Ren left the Grand Awakening Hall. He could feel people looking at him with pity. He almost laughed. If they only knew the truth.
He walked to the maintenance desk. A tired woman took his report. "Name? Ren. Rank? F. Next!" She did not even look at him. Ren did not correct her. It was better if everyone thought he was weak.
As he walked into the busy city, he felt a strange feeling. It was his System. A new message appeared on his blue screen.

Good things? Bad things? This sounds like fun, Ren thought with a grin. He had always liked challenges.
He walked to the Adventurer's Guild. It was a big stone building where people got quests to fight monsters. Inside, a big board showed all the available quests. Ren saw one that looked easy.
"Goblin Infestation. Reward: 50 Silver." Goblins, Ren thought. A perfect start.
He went to the front desk. A bored woman sat there. "I want the goblin quest," Ren said.
The woman looked at him. "Are you sure, kid? Goblins are not for beginners."
"I'm sure," Ren said.
The woman shrugged and stamped his quest card. "Okay. They are in the Whispering Woods. Good luck."
Ren walked to the Whispering Woods. It was a dark and quiet place. The trees looked scary. Soon, he heard a scream. He took out his simple iron sword and moved quietly.
In a small, open area, a group of goblins was attacking an adventurer. The adventurer was a young woman with fire-red hair. She was fighting bravely, but there were too many goblins.
Ren smiled. Time to see what this Mythical Rank can do.
He charged into the fight. He was faster than he had ever been before. He moved like a blur. He cut down the goblins easily. His simple sword felt like a legendary weapon in his hands. In just a few seconds, all the goblins were dead on the ground.
The red-haired woman stared at him. Her eyes were wide with shock. "Who... who are you?" she asked.
Ren put his sword away. He offered her his hand to help her up. "Just a guy with a System Glitch," he said with a wink. "Are you okay?"
She took his hand. "Yes. Thanks to you. My name is Lyra."
"I'm Ren," he smiled. "Nice to meet you." He then looked at the dead goblins. Time to see about those good things, he thought.
He checked his System.
