The Glimmerwasp flew at them very fast. It aimed for Lyra, who was wearing armor.
"Shield!" Ren shouted.
Lyra was a trained knight. She was ready. She put her steel shield in front of her. The wasp's stinger hit the shield with a loud CRACK. The hit was very strong. Lyra was pushed back, and a big crack appeared on her shield.
The wasp's stinger was stuck in the shield for just one second. For Ren, that one second was a very long time.
He moved like a flash of light. He was too fast for the wasp to see. He slid on the ground and swung his plain sword up. He did not aim for the wasp's hard shell. He aimed for the soft spot where its wing connected to its body.
SHRIIINK!
The sword cut deep. The wasp made a loud, pained sound. One of its wings was broken. It fell from the air.
The wasp was now very angry. It forgot about Lyra. It turned all its rage on Ren. It jumped and tried to sting him again and again.
But Ren was like a dancer. He did not block. He just moved out of the way. He dodged and weaved around the angry wasp. The fight looked like a master swordsman toying with a clumsy baby.
Lyra got back on her feet. "Its legs! Attack its legs!" she shouted. She charged in to help. She swung her sword at the wasp's legs. This made the wasp confused.
The wasp was distracted for just one second. That was all Ren needed. He stepped in close and pushed his sword straight through one of the wasp's big eyes.
The wasp stopped moving. It was dead.
The fen was silent again. Lyra stared at Ren. "How..." she whispered. "That was... impossible."
"I had a good teacher," Ren said with a wink. He checked his System.

He carefully took the long, sharp stinger from the dead wasp. He held his sword in one hand and the stinger in the other. 'System,' he thought. 'Conceptualization. Make my sword sharp using this stinger.'
A bright light came from his hands. The stinger turned into golden dust. The golden dust flowed into the sword. The sword glowed with a bright, golden light.
When the light faded, the sword looked a little different. Its edge had a strange shimmer. It looked very, very sharp.

Ren was very happy. He wanted to test his new sword. He saw a thick vine hanging from a tree. He swung his sword at it with a light, easy motion.
There was no sound of hitting. There was only a soft shiiiing.
The thick vine fell to the ground in two pieces. The cut was perfectly smooth, like glass.
Lyra's jaw dropped.
Ren looked at his new weapon. He heard the sound of more wasps buzzing in the distance. A dangerous, happy smile was on his face.
"Alright," he said. "Let's go get some more."
