As long as she brought him over, her part was done.
Still, she hadn't anticipated a reason like this from Kaito. In her mind, whatever was calling him away should have been something far more pressing — not just picking up breakfast.

Thinking that, Yelan shifted her gaze to the two young women standing behind him.
Thanks to the nature of her work, she already knew who they both were.
One was a traveler who claimed to be searching for her brother — someone who could wield elemental power without a Vision. The other was a ward of Inazuma's Electro Archon, a figure of considerable influence in Inazuma.
Neither of them was anyone ordinary.
And yet here they both were, entangled with the same young man in that kind of way.
"Then I'll trouble Miss Yelan to wait here a moment — I'm going to go buy some breakfast."
Hearing that there was no hurry, Kaito left those words behind and headed off.
A moment later, only Miko, Lumine, and Yelan remained at the entrance of the small courtyard.

With that thought, Miko stepped forward and said, "Miss Yelan, would you like to come inside and sit? Kaito will be back shortly."
"It's all right — I'm fine waiting out here."
Yelan shook her head at the invitation.
She was only here to fetch someone for Ningguang. Getting any more involved than that wasn't necessary.
"Then might I ask what brings you to see Kaito, Miss Yelan?" Since Yelan had said she would wait outside, Miko followed up with another question.
Kaito had only mentioned that someone was looking for him — not what it was about. She very much wanted to know what this was actually regarding.
More importantly, she wanted to get a read on exactly what kind of relationship existed between Kaito and this girl called Yelan.
"I'm sorry, Miss Miko — I've simply been entrusted with the task of bringing Kaito over. That's all."
Yelan had no intention of saying more than that.
She was aware that Miko and that young man called Kaito were no ordinary acquaintances — but she still wouldn't elaborate. Whether the young man chose to tell her himself was his own business, and none of hers.

Hearing Yelan put it that way, Miko arrived at that conclusion almost immediately.
It seemed she might have guessed wrong earlier. Kaito and Yelan had apparently only just met — they didn't know each other, let alone share that kind of relationship.

"I see. And may I ask who it is that's calling for him?" Miko pressed on.
She could wait and ask Kaito when he returned, but she was absolutely going to make the most of this chance to question Miss Yelan first.
Kaito might not know Yelan, but he could well be quite familiar with whoever had sent her.
So she needed to find out clearly.
"Tianquan Ningguang." This time Yelan didn't hesitate — she gave the name directly.
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she had the distinct feeling that Miko had been treating her as someone with an ambiguous, hard-to-define relationship with that young man.
So when Miko asked who had sent her, she answered just as directly.

The moment Lumine heard that it was Tianquan Ningguang who had summoned Kaito, that thought leapt into her mind.
If that was indeed it, then she had nothing to worry about.
So she said aloud, "I see. If that's the case, then I won't pry any further."

Watching Lumine, Yelan couldn't help but think exactly that.
She didn't know whether her guess was right or not, but she had a feeling it was more or less on the mark.

She had been ready to leave it alone, and yet here she was, unable to let it go.
"If I might ask — who exactly is this Mobius you're referring to?" Yelan looked at Miko and put the question forward.
"That's... a bit of a long story. Let's wait until Kaito gets back and have him explain."
After a moment's thought, Miko decided it was better to leave that to Kaito.

That answer only made Yelan more curious still.
But there was nothing to be done about it — if that was how it was going to be, she would just wait for the young man to return.
After that, the three of them fell into silence.
A short while later.
"Kaito's back." After a moment, everyone's attention was drawn to those words from Lumine.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
The moment he returned, Kaito offered a brief apology. He then handed the breakfast he'd bought to Lumine and added, "You and Miko go ahead and eat — I'll go see what Ningguang wants."
"Mm, okay."
Lumine accepted the breakfast and gave a small nod.
Wait.
He held Miss Yelan up out here just to buy breakfast for me and Lumine?
Listening to the exchange between Kaito and Lumine from the sidelines, Miko was genuinely caught off guard.
She'd assumed Kaito had simply been too hungry himself and had gone off to grab something, leaving Yelan to wait in the meantime — but it turned out he'd done it for the two of them.
In her view, he could have just told them to go buy something themselves. There was absolutely no need for all of this.
Of course, Kaito had already gone and done it now.

Still, whatever her reservations, she couldn't deny that what Kaito had done gave her a warm feeling.
"Then I'll take my leave for now." With those words, Kaito and Yelan departed.
"Come back soon."
Watching Kaito's retreating figure, Miko murmured that after him.
The two of them then headed back inside the small courtyard.
"Really now — he could have just told us to go buy our own breakfast. Instead he left someone waiting out here for who knows how long," Miko complained the moment they were inside.
"I know, right. It's not like we had anything else going on," Lumine agreed.
