Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Is This Vampire Insane?

Today, Natsuki Minamiya had a headache.

She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but her luck today seemed downright awful.

She made herself a cup of tea but spilled it before she could even take a sip.

On the way home, she ran into some lunatic releasing a familiar beast in the middle of the street. After giving him a good beating, she handed him off to the security squad.

Then, just as she was about to rest at home, she was suddenly woken up by an emergency call—there was a vampire causing trouble.

Maybe it was her imagination, but today felt even more exhausting than usual.

Or was this all a sign of something worse about to happen?

Of course, Natsuki, the Witch of the Void, didn't have any ability to see the future. She just grumbled in frustration before getting up and heading to the scene.

In the blink of an eye, Natsuki arrived at the top of a tall tower, surveying the scene below.

"This is a disaster..."

Even just looking from above, the street below looked like it had been torn apart by some terrifying force—completely wrecked.

The ground was littered with bloodied, twisted bodies. Seeing this, Natsuki's expression turned even darker.

Without a word, she shifted her gaze to the center of the battle.

Flames and aurora-like lights clashed fiercely. Two figures were locked in combat, soaring from the ground into the sky without a moment's pause.

Amid the storm of magic, Natsuki could see two petite girls—one wielding a gun, the other a sword—clashing in a fierce exchange. But it was clear to her that the girl with the gun was only on the defensive.

Also... both of them were clearly vampires. But those wings...

"Are they Type-T?"

Muttering to herself, Natsuki speculated aloud.

What she meant were the vampires from the Chaos Zone of the Warlord Empire—confirmed to all be female, capable of turning their familiars into living weapons like whips or guns. Their beastman bloodline also granted them incredible physical prowess, even without familiars.

Given how the two were fighting, it made sense that Natsuki thought of that possibility.

She could also hear the conversation between the two clearly from where she stood.

"Flandre, stop! You have to stop attacking!"

"Hahahahaha—Big sister, come play with Flandre too! Flandre's having so much fun right now!"

"Flandre, if you don't stop, I'm going to get angry!"

"Hmph! Big sister always locks Flandre in the basement! Flandre doesn't care if you're mad! Flandre wants to play! Don't you see? The people here are so sturdy! No matter how hard I play, they don't break! Well... except a few who just crumble when I squeeze them!"

"Hmph! Flandre doesn't care anymore. I'll go play by myself!"

Was this really just a sisterly quarrel that escalated this far?

Without wasting another second, Natsuki waved her right hand. Around Remilia and Flandre, the air shimmered with spatial ripples, and from those ripples, silver chains shot out.

These were divine chains, silvery and ethereal, instantly wrapping around both girls.

"What—?!"

"Annoying things—!"

It was as if the two sisters hadn't even noticed a third person was there.

Remilia's expression instantly changed. Her power surged in an attempt to break free, but even she couldn't tear the silver chains apart. Instead, they bound her tightly, rendering her completely immobile.

Then, a slightly slurred but amused voice came from behind them.

"These are divine chains forged by the Devas. You think they're that easy to break?"

"What...?"

Caught off guard by the voice, Remilia looked over her shoulder.

To her surprise, the source was an extremely petite figure, which made Remilia's gaze soften just a little.

Looking around, it was only now that she realized—they weren't in their own world anymore.

"The outside world...? No... Based on what that Usami girl said, this doesn't seem right either. The mystery of the outside world should have disappeared long ago. So that means..."

The term "another world" surfaced in Remilia's mind.

Her face turned even grimmer.

If there was a way back, that would be fine. But there wasn't!

To Remilia, this kind of otherworldly mess was way too troublesome.

And to top it off, the moment she arrived in this new world, she had already taken a hard fall.

As for the reason they were being restrained—it was probably obvious from the destruction caused by her battle with Flandre.

"Flandre…"

Remilia looked over at Flandre with deep concern. Unexpectedly, Flandre had her head down and wasn't saying anything.

At that moment, Natsuki glanced at the two girls' wrists and spoke calmly.

"You two destroyed an entire district, severely injured the security squad... and by the looks of it, you're not even from Itogami Island. That makes you illegal entrants. So basically—wait, what the hell is this feeling—?"

Suddenly, Natsuki's face changed. An intense sense of suffocation—like she was staring death in the face—cut her off mid-sentence.

She looked up.

Flandre had finally lifted her head, and those crazed, gleaming eyes were staring straight at Natsuki. For some reason, being stared at like that made her feel like death was looming over her.

Remilia watched the scene, growing more and more anxious.

Ever since arriving in this other world, her sister had been slipping closer and closer toward the edge of total loss of control.

She even saw the crystals on Flandre's wings beginning to crack and tremble.

Even Remilia couldn't stop despair from creeping into her heart.

As her sister, she couldn't even protect Flandre...

Crack—

What widened Natsuki's eyes in shock was the next moment.

Flandre looked down at the divine chains restraining her. Then, clenching her fists, she crushed them with a sudden motion.

The divine chains—crafted by god's(demi-gods actually) themselves—were shattered by a vampire's bare hands.

"How is that even possible—?!"

This was the first time she'd ever seen a vampire destroy laeding. Nothing about this made sense.

"Hahahahahaha—"

With maniacal laughter, Flandre stared straight at Natsuki, her face filled with wild excitement.

"Big sister over there! Want to play a danmaku game with Flandre?"

"Danmaku... game? What's that?"

Natsuki suddenly had a very, very bad feeling.

"It's this!"

Flandre spread her arms wide. Behind her, a massive magic circle formed.

Then—brilliant light illuminated the night sky over Itogami Island.

As Natsuki's expression darkened further, countless glowing projectiles fired out in all directions, raining chaos upon the city.

Was this vampire... completely insane?
