It had been about a day since Kevin had talked to the captain, she had given them the time to choose their sequences after thinking it over.
Kevin sighed internally as he thought back to the last statement he had left behind
"But... even after knowing all this, i'll still take the opportunity to become a beyonder, because even if i don't the guy that tried to kill me will be back, so.. why did i want to tell you all this, well i guess i just like letting people know that i'm aware of their plans and that they only succeed because i let them, and that i can stop them at any moment."
He had left after saying that, indeed he had given a good descriptionnof how he wanted to be, not how he was, he couldn't get out of this situation even if he wanted to.
After sighing internally once more he thought about the sequence 9 formulas available.
Assassin, Hunter, Sailor, Spectator, Arbiter, Mystery Pryer, Sleepless, Seer, Apprentice and finally Marauder.
Among these only Seer, Apprentice and Marauder were complete.
When thinking about the pathways, he had also let himself be distracted a few times, Kevin usually makes the best choices on the go, however he suddenly remembered something deep in his memories, his memories are still slightly disoriented so it was hard to remember but he knew that it was a script of runes left behind by a person called Emperor Roselle,
'Right the script was in... Chinese?!'
He hadn't expected to find a language from earth... atleast not after the message left behind by Zack and the others,
'Could he be a senior transmigrator?'
As he came up with a lot of hypothesis, he tried to remember the contents in the copies he had read of the 'runes' he could only remember one line properly,
"I regret not choosing the Apprentice, Seer or Marauder pathways"
'This!'
The pathways the Emperor regretted not choosing were the same pathways the Chruch of The Fool had complete control over, that couldn't be a coincidence could it?, but more importantly this meant,
'That the Emperor was a beyonder, well thats to be expected, he couldnt be famous without knowong beyonders could he'
'Well then my choices are instantly zeroed down to Seer, Apprentice and Marauder'
The Seer pathway was aligned towards the secrets of mysticism, now normally this would be ideal since mysticism seemed to be their way back to earth, however Mystery Pryer was obviously more aligned towards mysticism and Zack had chosen it, now the Apprentice pathway was more under handed since it quite literally a Apprentice, so he decided on..
'I choose assassin' Chris's voice was heard inside his head.
There was a lot of voices stating that he was too quick and that just cause it sounds cool he shouldn't choose it however Kevin stepped in telling the discovery of Emperor Roselle and the three pathways.
'However, assassin seems like a good choice since one of us has to have combat prowess'
'...i'm choosing sleepless' Nick's voice was heard 'the capability to work without rest would seem like something we need later on'
Arthur then popped in with his choice 'spectator...aparently they can cure mental issues that plague beyonders at mid sequence'
*****
Chris had chosen the assassin formula yesterday and today someone from the Assassin's Hall, a subsidery of the Mystery seekers came, she was a woman
"Are you sure to choose assassin?"
Instantly the gray fog churned as if protecting him from a mental attack.
'She wants to convince me to not choose assassin?, should i go with it, wouldn't she get suspicious if i don't succumb to the attack?,.... no the attack seems mild, which means a normal person has a chance to resist'
He replied "yes, i do"
The woman frowned before smiling and saying "don't regret it" as she gave him the ingredients and the formula, he read it.
Sequence 9 Assassin:
Main ingredients:
Silver snake fangs
Black night bird's tail feathers
Supplementary ingredients:
Poison gland of Silver snake
10 ml of Silver snake blood
10 ml of Black night bird blood
1 acorn
10ml pure water
He started concocting it, first the pure water, then the two batches of bright red blood they mixed together to form a black, shadowy liquid, then he added the acorn which melted away instantly and the poison gland which was light pink in colour which turned the liquid a darker shade of black, then the fangs which seemed to turn the shade lighter and finally the feathers which turned the completed potion a shadowy shade of black.
He looked at the woman, she suddenly took out a mirror and chanted something after waiting for a few moments the woman said
"You've concocted the potion sucessfully, all that's left is to drink it"
Chris nodded, he stared at the potion for a moment...
Then he poured it into a cup and drank it without hesitation.
For a moment nothing happened, then Chris heard the ravings from somewhere, something was whispering into his mind tearing it apart then he felt his hand muscles cramp up, no his entire body did, he could feel the liquid reach out to every cell in his body, then something strange happened the gray fog churned in his mind and for some reason it seemed to have manifested into reality as he felt the coldness of the mysterious fog envelope his body and emanate outwards, the fog seemed to shield him from the potion's effects, it also seemed to disperse a bit, following the instruction given by the captain before he imagined a his own coat before swapping the picture with a firey ball of blue flames that churned and spat out flames.

Kevin was anxious, he didn't know if the potion had been concocted successfully and if he had drunk it, then suddenly he felt a change in the gray fog, it churned towards one point seemingly protecting it, no it wasn't a point it was a presence Chris's presence!, after a few moments in which all of them were tense, they felt the gray fog calm down and settle, they didn't let down their guard though, after all the fog calming down could mean two things one, he succeeded in his advancement, or two he failed and they couldn't sense his presence properly as the gray fog was still settling down, all they knew was that it changed, they didn't know if it was for the better or worse.

"Congratulations on becoming an Assassin" the woman said, as she smiled bitterly.
Chris replied "thank you... but why the bitter smile, if i may know"
The woman replied "you will know, in the future if your lucky... or unlucky depending on the way you see it"
Chris blinked "o-okay, i guess?"
'Not ominous at all'
She then led him up stairs, they had taken the advancement in the alchemy area below the library.
As the door opened Chris saw his friends all breathe a sigh of relieve, he was instantly drowned with all sorts of messages congratulating him and asking him if he was ok.
"Congratulations, Mr.Chris" Kevin said, after all they weren't supposed to be deeply connected.
