Ficool

Chapter 35 - 35

Alright," Rys Fiske replied and quickly walked to the corner under the stairs, where an office desk, computer, and printer were placed, forming a small space separated from the training room on the first floor.

Later, Rys Fiske planned to hire someone to design it, at least to partition the space under the stairs and create a small cubicle. Otherwise, leaving the computer and documents out in the open like this wouldn't be very safe, especially since a diverse group of people came to train every day.

Not long after, Rys Fiske came out with a contract. It wasn't overly complex, just an employment agreement: Logan would serve as a sparring partner and supervisor at the Wing Chun martial arts school for $5,000 a month.

This salary was already quite high. Even Rys Fiske and Zhong Qiang only received $5,000 as intern salaries. While it was understandable for Zhong Qiang, Rys Fiske was the son of Kingpin, with countless assets, yet he only earned $5,000 as an intern. This shows that Logan's salary was indeed substantial.

Logan nodded in satisfaction after seeing the contract. He knew, of course, that this money was more than what most of his previous jobs paid, and with less work, plus free food and lodging, it was a great deal.

Huang Wen smiled subtly when he saw Logan sign the contract. He kept Logan not merely to be a sparring partner; more importantly, Huang Wen wanted to seize the opportunity to exploit the system.

In just ten short minutes, Huang Wen had acquired two extraordinary items and skills from Logan: the Slow-Motion Glasses and the Steamed Bun Bomb. It was foreseeable how many good things Huang Wen would obtain from Logan in the future.

However, Huang Wen hadn't yet decided what new tasks he should assign to Logan.

"Alright, I'm leaving this to you all. I'm going out for a bit," Huang Wen said, snapping back to reality, acting like a hands-off boss. "You all practice your punches well, especially Xiao Qiang. You must train with all your might. When you're tired, eat. If you still can't gain weight from martial arts training, then just go back to the hot pot restaurant!"

"Don't say that, Brother Wen. I just don't gain weight no matter how much I eat. Is that my fault?" Zhong Qiang looked at Huang Wen with a bitter expression. Why was he suddenly targeting him? He hadn't done anything to attract such animosity.

"Uncle Wolf, keep an eye on this kid. Don't let him slack off," Huang Wen instructed Logan, then turned and left the Wing Chun martial arts school. The people in the school exchanged glances, then, under Logan's fierce gaze, each one began to practice their punches diligently.

After leaving the Wing Chun martial arts school, Huang Wen went to the Chinese supermarket closest to Chinatown. He browsed inside, muttering to himself, "Should I buy sunflower seeds or chewing gum?"

"If it's chewing gum, it's like a sticky bomb, which would be more secure. But I vaguely remember that one steamed bun has the power of a normal bomb. Would chewing gum accidentally injure innocent people?"

"But if it's sunflower seed shells, aren't they too small? And the difficulty of using sunflower seed shells is clearly higher than chewing gum. Forget it, I'll buy both, and I'll test their power first."

Huang Wen quickly left the Chinese supermarket with a bag of sunflower seeds, a pack of chewing gum, and a super-large apple. Then he found an empty alley, summoned his tuxedo, activated stealth mode, and climbed onto a rooftop, weaving through the skyscrapers of New York City.

If only Huang Wen had spider silk and wasn't in stealth mode, the urban legend of Spider-Man would have appeared prematurely.

After a long while, Huang Wen found an abandoned lot. Seeing no one around, Huang Wen stopped, spat out the chewing gum he had been chewing the whole way, threw it out, and then, with a thought, he ignited it.

With a loud "bang!", the chewing gum transformed into a bomb and exploded directly, creating a crater with a radius of 3 meters. Huang Wen, standing more than ten meters away, also felt the impact.

However, the tuxedo's force-dissipating function activated, and coupled with the considerable distance, Huang Wen was unaffected.

"Uh, does this count as powerful or weak?" Huang Wen walked to the site of the explosion, seeing no trace of the chewing gum, only a dark, charred pit.

"It should be less powerful than the steamed bun, but a three-meter radius is still a bit too large; it might harm innocent people, and such a big commotion could easily attract unwanted attention." Huang Wen mused, cracked a sunflower seed, and threw the shell under a large rock.

With a "bang!", the sunflower seed shell exploded, sending the large rock flying. This time, however, the explosion radius was less than half a meter, meaning it covered roughly the area a person stands in.

"Hmm, this is not bad!" Huang Wen looked at the shattered rock and nodded in satisfaction. "Calculated this way, the Steamed Bun Bomb skill should be based on volume. Size and thickness must be taken into account. So…"

At this point, Huang Wen looked at the large apple in his hand. This apple was almost half the size of Huang Wen's head, which meant it was roughly the size of six steamed buns.

"I've already decided to use sunflower seed shells, but should I still test this apple?" A flicker of intention crossed Huang Wen's eyes. "I might as well try it to see how much power it can unleash, after all, it's considered large among regular foods…"

"I can't exactly bite into a watermelon with its skin, and if I cut it, the power would likely decrease significantly. Let's just try this!"

Having made up his mind, Huang Wen bit into the apple, then threw it away. Before the apple could hit the ground, Huang Wen ran backward and then detonated the massive apple.

"Boom!" A powerful blast of air rushed in, almost knocking Huang Wen off his feet. When Huang Wen looked back, a giant crater about thirty meters in radius appeared on the distant ground, billowing thick smoke, indicating the immense power of the apple's explosion.

"Gulp!" Huang Wen instinctively swallowed. He knew that if he had been at the center of that explosion, he probably wouldn't have survived. The apple's explosive power was ten times that of chewing gum!

"Sunflower seed shells are still safer!" Huang Wen let out a long breath, leaving the area with lingering fear. He re-entered the urban area of New York City and returned to the Wing Chun martial arts school.

As for scouting out Captain Yifu, Huang Wen planned to do that after dark.

"Brother Wen, you're finally back! You don't know what I've been through…" Two shifts of students had already changed at the Wing Chun martial arts school, but Zhong Qiang was still being put through extra training by Logan and Rys Fiske. At this moment, seeing Huang Wen was like seeing a savior; he ran over, drenched in sweat.

"Alright, alright, so you just trained a little extra?" Huang Wen glared at Zhong Qiang in annoyance. "If you're hungry, go home and eat. After you've digested, come back. I'm telling you, kid, if you can't gain ten pounds of muscle within a month, you'll be getting double the training!"

"Double again? Wouldn't that be super double? No! Brother Wen…" Zhong Qiang's wails echoed.
