Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

At this moment, Chen Fan didn't return to his room. Too many things had been frustrating today, and he needed to vent. So, he ran wildly through the forest outside the villa, stirring up countless clouds of dust, his speed seemingly rivaling a high-speed Mage.

He stopped in a spot far from the villa, gazing up at the full moon hanging high in the sky, then closed his eyes, inhaling the fresh air through his nostrils, feeling a momentary calm.

Suddenly, Chen Fan said in a calm voice, yet full of authority, "You all should come out now, you insects. Aren't you tired of following me this far?" His eyes opened, sharp and piercing into the darkness.

As Chen Fan's words fell, "Swish, swish, swish..." several sounds emerged around Chen Fan, and a few hidden figures appeared. A cold, murderous intent began to seep into the surroundings, suffocating the air, startling a flock of crows still sleeping in the trees, making them fly away with panicked wingbeats.

Without greeting, without a word, they immediately unleashed several spells towards Chen Fan: fireballs whizzed, ice arrows shot forth, earth spikes pierced the ground, and various other magical incantations, all rubbing against the air with whistling sounds, rushing towards Chen Fan and surrounding him, forming a ring of death.

"Boom..." All the spells exploded a large hole in the ground, raising a thick cloud of dust that enveloped the area. Slowly, the dust dispersed with the wind, revealing Chen Fan standing unharmed in the center of the large hole, his hands still casually in the pockets of his white lab coat. An aura of invincibility emanated from him.

Seeing Chen Fan completely unharmed, those few people were somewhat surprised. This clearly didn't match the information they had. Without speaking, they continued to cast spells, and "boom, boom sounds" kept ringing out, shaking the forest.

Chen Fan didn't dodge. His hands either blocked the attacks directly or swung them flat. All the spells that attacked Chen Fan were either bounced back with equal force or refracted, colliding with the spells cast by the others and then vanishing together in a flash of magical light. His reflexes and ability to manipulate energy made him like a powerful wizard who mastered power control.

After struggling for a long time, seeing that these people didn't even speak and only used very traditional magic without tricks, Chen Fan had his own guess. So, Chen Fan said, his voice calm, "You're from the Magic Council, aren't you?"

The bodies of those few people trembled slightly, a subtle, almost invisible reaction, yet Chen Fan still saw it. After getting the information he wanted, Chen Fan didn't plan to waste any more time with them. Over the years, not only these few people had been trouble for Chen Fan, and the people who had bothered him had all been silently eliminated by him.

Chen Fan knew that one day the Magic Council would come looking for trouble with him, but he didn't expect it to be so blatant. 'It seems I, Chen Fan, have really been underestimated,' Chen Fan sighed in his heart, a small annoyance rising.

Since these people dared to come, they had to pay the price. The corners of Chen Fan's mouth curved slightly, forming a thin, horrifying smirk in the darkness.

With his hands still in his pockets, his body slightly bent. He stomped his foot forcefully, and with a "bang!", Chen Fan was shot towards one of them like an arrow released from a bow, leaving a deep footprint in the ground where he stomped. His speed sliced through the air with a roaring sound, like a fighter launching a high-speed attack.

His white lab coat, combined with his feet not touching the ground as he flew through the air, made Chen Fan look like a terrifying white phantom under the moonlight, a silhouette of death.

With a "whoosh..." sound, Chen Fan appeared beside the person as if teleporting, lightly patting the person's shoulder as if in a normal greeting, which startled the person, who stared blankly as Chen Fan walked away step by step.

When Chen Fan was about five meters away from him, a sharp pain, like thousands of needles piercing, spread throughout his body. After that, his entire body began to distort, his head gradually swelled, and various parts of his body began to bulge unnaturally, like a failed experimental subject, torn apart by invisible internal pressure. "Bang..." His body exploded with a sickening sound, blood splattering everywhere, spraying a blood mist that stained the entire sky red. This was the horrific manifestation of Chen Fan's power.

Everyone was shocked by the horrific death, their faces showing profound fear, their eyes wide. They had seen all kinds of killing magic, but never such bloody and strange magic. They stared blankly at Chen Fan, who was calmly walking towards them. Against the backdrop of the blood-red moonlight, Chen Fan's eyes glowed an unusual red, and numbers flickered on his glasses, making him look like a cold, emotionless killing machine.

"Tap, tap," As Chen Fan's rhythmic footsteps slowly sounded in the silent forest, their hearts also began to pound loudly, their rhythm unconsciously adjusting to the approaching footsteps, creating a symphony of fear.

"Ah..." Finally, one person couldn't bear the terrifying pressure and shrieked hysterically. A large magic circle appeared under his feet, and he roared, "Earth Spike!" He pressed his hands to the ground, and continuous "boom..." sounds were heard as countless large earth spikes emerged from the surrounding ground, rapidly approaching Chen Fan, forming a wall of thorns.

But Chen Fan seemed oblivious, continuing to walk forward, the numbers in his eyes still flickering, a terrifying calm. The imagined scene of blood splattering did not occur.

No change appeared under Chen Fan's feet. Chen Fan maintained his calm expression, walked to the earth spike closest to him, reached out, and pinched the tip of the spike with his fingers, holding it between them with ease. A demonstration of quiet, terrifying power, like a powerful Mage stopping an attack with a finger.

He flicked his finger towards the person. Seeing this, the person was shocked and quickly used Molding Magic, "Earth Wall!" With another roar, a large earth wall rose in front of him, a desperate defense.

A "whoosh..." sound came from Chen Fan's hand, followed by a sharp whistle in the air.

"Boom... boom..." sounds were heard. The earth wall in front of the person collapsed piece by piece, revealing what was behind it. A small but perfect hole appeared in the person's forehead, bleeding profusely, while Chen Fan remained expressionless. His firing power was precise and deadly.

At this point, everyone was completely terrified. Perhaps Chen Fan only considered the deceased person an "extra," but they knew how powerful that person was. They began to use magic to scatter and flee, like frightened rats escaping from a cat. They no longer dared to think of causing trouble for Chen Fan, only wanting to survive.

Seeing everyone beginning to flee, Chen Fan stomped his foot. The ground beneath him seemed unable to withstand the pressure and began to crack like a giant spiderweb. Several broken rocks floated around Chen Fan, surrounded by an invisible aura. He lightly flicked his right hand, and an invisible ripple spread through the air, turning the rocks into deadly projectiles.

A "whoosh..." sound of breaking air was heard as the rocks shot out like cannonballs, creating sparks as they rubbed against the air, whistling towards those people. "Pfft." Everyone turned to dust even before they could scream, while those who tried to escape through the air became dazzling blood-red fireworks in the night sky, a deadly and spectacular sight.

Seeing everyone die so cleanly, Chen Fan closed his eyes, inhaled the slightly blood-scented air, and let out a long sigh. He was a little troubled now; everything about his Superpower was good, except for its cursed 'quid pro quo' nature, which was truly terrible. It was a curse that came with great power, reminiscent of the price to be paid for high-level magical transformations.

He had known before that as his power increased, his empathy would decrease, eventually leading him to face those people alone. He never expected that now, as his power grew, the 'quid pro quo' nature would return.

Having just killed so many people, not a single ripple appeared in Chen Fan's heart. His feelings were flat, empty. He truly didn't know what he would become in the future, and his mood grew rather irritable.

Suddenly, a gigantic purple magic circle appeared in the sky, emitting a terrifying aura that made one's hair stand on end.

"Roar!" A massive monster, shaped like a giant violin with hideous features, fell from the magic circle, landing on the ground with a THUD and letting out an angry roar that shook the air, making the trees tremble. It was Lullaby, the instrument of death itself.

"I will devour your souls! So, whose soul should I start with?!" Lullaby's majestic voice echoed through the air, full of menace, sending waves of fear.
