Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"Irasshai, Irasshai," Chen Fan greeted, a sly smile spreading across his face as he ushered a guild member to the chair in front of his desk. His expression, though welcoming, exuded an odd, almost lewd aura.

He carefully examined the wound on the person's arm. Chen Fan's eyes narrowed, his lips dramatically curled. "Hmm, let me see, wow, your wound is so deep!" His voice rasped, filled with feigned concern. "It might affect your future magic casting, you know?"

Instantly, his expression turned serious, his tone lowered, laced with false concern. "More seriously, it might affect your future magic power progression! After all, the body is a conduit for magic power, isn't it? How can a good physique support your dirty soul?" He paused, a tiny twitch at the corner of his lips.

Chen Fan immediately realized his mistake, as if the words had slipped out accidentally. He cleared his throat twice, loudly. "Ahem, ahem... I mean, without a strong physique, one cannot support strong magic power!" He corrected himself, an awkward smile gracing his face, attempting to cover his tracks.

However, the person in front of him had focused their entire attention on the phrase 'cannot progress'. Their face paled, their eyes vacant, lost in the fear of stagnation. They no longer heard anything Chen Fan said afterward.

"Then Chen Fan..." Before they could finish their sentence, Chen Fan cut them off with a decisive wave of his hand. "Don't call me Chen Fan. When I see patients, just call me Doctor!" There was a twinkle in his eyes, a role-play he thoroughly enjoyed.

"Then Doctor, can my wound really be healed?" The person asked nervously, their eyes fixed on Chen Fan, afraid of hearing a 'no'.

"No problem, this is a minor issue," Chen Fan said in a cheerful tone, his eyes winking slyly. "Since today is our first day open, I'll only charge you 10 Jewel." His voice was full of suspicious generosity.

"10 Jewel?! That's really too cheap!" Hearing that their wound could be healed for such a small fee, the person was overcome with joy. Their eyes sparkled, as if they were already envisioning piles of gold coins.

"Don't rejoice too soon," Chen Fan said with a sigh, his tone full of mystery, like a fortune teller about to reveal a dark fate. "Don't you feel that your magic power progression has been getting slower recently?"

This profound question immediately pulled the previously happy person back into the abyss of sadness. They responded to Chen Fan with a slow nod, a faint murmur, "Mhm." In his mind, Chen Fan smiled slyly. "This is just nonsense, how could magic power be so easily improved?"

Leaning back in his chair, Chen Fan closed his eyes and held his forehead, displaying an expression of profound pain, which made the person even more nervous. They could even hear their own heartbeat echoing in their ears.

About a minute later, Chen Fan opened his eyes again, his gaze sharp. "According to my many years of medical experience, this is 'cancer'!"

"What is 'cancer'?" The person asked with a trembling voice, their face pale at the sound of such a serious term.

"'Cancer' is a very stubborn disease," Chen Fan explained in an undeniably serious tone. "It lurks within the human body, showing no abnormalities normally, but at critical moments, it will erupt! The 'cancer' in your body must be due to prolonged injuries that didn't receive systematic treatment, leading to muscle necrosis, destruction of bodily functions, and decreased self-coordination ability... In severe cases, it can lead to loss of sexual function!"

Chen Fan rattled off many medical technical terms, all of which the person didn't understand. Their head was smoking, trying to comprehend.

"Then what should I do?" Seeing the person's face, almost on the verge of tears, Chen Fan knew this was the opportune moment. The bait had been cast, it was time to reel it back in.

So he said, "Don't worry, I can help you cure it, but such a massive undertaking will consume my life. Alas... for the sake of others, I can only sacrifice myself." He let out a dramatic sigh, his face radiating an aura of self-sacrifice, as if he were a hero ready to die for the good of the world.

The person was deeply moved and, after vaguely paying 100,000 Jewel (somehow the money suddenly changed hands, like magic), they walked out with an excited heart, waving, an aura of happiness enveloping them.

Of course, Chen Fan had already healed the wounds on their body with his own abilities. After all, no matter how black his heart was, he would still do what needed to be done.

Just as that person walked out, a group of others surrounded them, asking questions. Most were just curious, but some also wanted to hear how great Chen Fan's medical skills were.

And that person simply praised Chen Fan's medical skills, how amazing they were, and how cheap the cost was, in short, they only said good things, like a missionary spreading good news.

At this moment, Chen Fan's voice sounded, "Next!"

A group of people rushed towards Chen Fan, one person having a rather fierce expression, ready to pounce. After finally calming everyone down, Chen Fan also sped up the treatment process, no longer like with the first person, because the 'Hand of God' brand had already been established, and it wouldn't be so troublesome later on.

He would ask everyone who came, "Do you want the 'big' one or the 'small' one?"

Since everyone outside understood what Chen Fan meant, they clearly stated they wanted the 'big' one. After quickly completing the treatments, Chen Fan found himself utterly exhausted, sweat drenching his forehead. Perhaps it was truly as he said, his current 'physique cannot support his dirty soul,' ah, he misspoke, it was his 'pure soul.'

Although he was very tired, there were benefits to this. Chen Fan could clearly feel his integration with this body. Perhaps soon, he would be able to start working on developing his brain. After all, the human brain is very complex, and one mistake can lead to unimaginable consequences, just like what he told Makarov. He didn't dare to take that risk.

Like a street vendor selling unlicensed fake medicine caught by the police, Chen Fan hurriedly packed up his stall. He stretched out his hand and shouted, "That's all for today! We'll continue tomorrow. I'm out of magic power!"

"No way! You treated all of them, and it's almost our turn! How can you just leave?!" A group of people reached out their hands to block Chen Fan's way, looking like police officers about to apprehend Chen Fan, which made Chen Fan extremely helpless.

Suddenly, a voice from the doorway shouted, "Erza's back!"

"WHOOSH!" "WHOOSH!" "WHOOSH!" "WHOOSH!"...

One by one, they quickly returned to their seats, seemingly having a very Happy conversation, which left Chen Fan stunned. But it wasn't everyone, there was also a disdainful 'hmph' sound.

Chen Fan saw that it was indeed Mira. He remembered that in the manga, when they were young, she and Erza didn't get along very well, they were both tsundere types, Chen Fan thought.
