A few hours had passed since my last conversation with graham.
He took note of what I could recall, what my name was and how old my body was, after a small scan.
"22 years old..well 222 years old, if you think about it." I murmur to myself.
He advised me to meditate, try to gain back long lost memories hidden deep in my unconcious. -Wasn't quiet that easy with all these new things distracting me.
.
.
While we took the medical scans, to clear me of any need for observation, I was brought to their facilities, 'NEO' the name of the organization. A grand building, overgrown with synthetic trees.
Graham told me we lost a ton of wildlife as we evolved, destoryed many species so on and so forth.
One of the few things that were bound to happen at some point, I wasn't surprised.
So, they thought of a solution, instead of having to use soil or dirt to grow a natural tree, they mutated it, now being able to grow on and digest plastic waste, giving it a pretty blueish colour, the stem grey, yet warm.
It is said, that they produce double the oxygen than the common tree, clearing pollution almost instantly.
Funny, considering there is no real need for it anymore. Many people are said to go by teleportation, avoiding car accidents or long drives, while also taking up less time giving people the ultimate efficiency.
Everything had changed. It felt like expiriencing life again from the view of a child, trying to understand the world around them. -So many questions.
.
But that was an hour ago.
Finally in my own space, enough air to catch my breath.
I sat down on a fluffy textured carpet, trying to do as I was told. Meditate.
Meditate...meditate..
.
.
Suddenly I was starteled by a buzzing coming from the outside, I open my eyes slowly, giving into my curiosity.
"You must be kidding me!" I sprint toward the window, the blinds now wide open.
I am met with the most incredible view my eyes have ever tasted.
..This city, it was paradise!
A mix of harmony, connection and solitude.
A home filled with pallets of green, blue and white. -Decorated in it's most beautiful flowers.
A place where nature and technology connected, walked side by side, lived. Together.
"How could I have missed this! This is amazing! This is pure art!"
.
.
.
After taking in the view a little longer I go back to my previous task. Meditation.
.
"I have to focus, this could help me get myself back, figure out who brought me here."
I close my eyes and hold my position until I'm in a trance like state.
A sudden frequenzy catches my attention. It feels familiar, connected.
I focus, trying to hold onto whatever signal it is.
The closer I feel, the more it starts to sting.
I continue.
Clenching my teeth, I hold onto it, the brutal stabbing in my chest growing stronger.
I gasp, sweat dripping down my face.
"I-it burns, it burns so much.." . . . and then, nothing.
.
I'm back on that field again, my breathing fast, gasping for air.
A continues rining in my ears.
I am blinded by the piercing sun that embraces me.
Death...it's close.
.
Footsteps approach, the sound of crushed gras getting louder.
All I can make out is a hooded person. They crouch down next to me.
Their lips move but no sound.
.
Then nothing again.
.
My eyes open in a flash, now somewhere different, all I see is white. Left and right.
.
Then a sudden whisper.
.
"...witness." echoing in the distance.
.
My eyes open again.
I'm back in my room, my chest moving up and down rapidly.
.
Relief washes over me as I return.
"That must've been the person who took me."
"Witness..what am I supposed to witness?"
I get up walking toward the window once more.
"This..? The future?"
Scratching my head I continue walking around the room.
Was this a clue?
It would make sense.
If the chamber works just like sleep, freezing your cells in time for you to stay intact for over 100 years, then my memories should still be with me.
You don't lose your memories after sleeping in...
Well this was a different kind of sleep, but in theory the same thing.
This hooded person must've manipulated my memory, I'm sure of it!
"The only person I can turn to now is graham, maybe I should inform him of my findings.."
I don't really know if I can trust him, he's nothing more than a doctor, noone I know.
I sigh. Crossing my arms.
"What do I have to lose?" I shrug and walk out of my room.
The hall to the smart homes was spacecious, almost empty.
Like I had noticed earlier, no soul at sight.
"..still weird."
Come to think of it, graham was one of the only people I've met so far.
Is the future just a bunch of humans hiding from each other...?
Teleportation really left the world empty huh?
I chuckle "we'll see about that."
I walk around until i reach a corridor with an exit sign.
"Finally."
The door opens by itself as I get closer.
"Uhh..this isn't the exit.."
I find myself in a lab.
Wait these must be the chambers graham was talking about!
They're huge! Filled with a blueish liquid.
"He was right." I say quietly.
People floating in water, the tube cold, freezing.
"It actually looks like they're still breathing in that liquid. How old must these be..?"
I look around, for 3 hours at least.
"These people have all been forzen 100 years in the past." None older.
"I guess I really was here the longest." I confirm.
I stop walking, standing before an intersting looking specimen.
I look at the notes assigned to him.
"A persident?
..Kinda makes sense, that only high class people would be bound to such a privlige.
"Was I one of them?"
