Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 - The Sweetest Lie

The class was loud.

Boys shouting across benches.

Chairs scraping.

Markers flying.

And then the door opened —

And silence dropped like a knife.

Ravi Singh was back.

"Miss me, losers?" he smirked, stepping in with the swagger only someone like him could wear.

Shaurya and the others immediately got up, laughing, fist-bumping, "Where were you, bro?!", "The vibe was dead without you!"

But Ravi stopped cold mid-step — eyes locked on the figure near the window.

A girl.

Silent. Calm. Reading. Like she belonged.

"What... is that?" he asked, pointing directly at her.

Reyan didn't answer.

Shaurya muttered, "That's Ryu. Our new monitor. Girl President."

Ravi's expression changed.

Disbelief twisted into disgust.

Then into a grin — dark, dangerous, playful.

"You let a girl in Section C?"

"Mr. Avi's orders," Shaurya shrugged.

"She's quiet. Doesn't talk to anyone," Kabir added softly.

"She doesn't have to," Ravi said. "She's already changing everything."

He stared at her again.

"Disgusting," he whispered. "Section C used to be untouchable. Now it's turning into Section Cute."

Lunch break. Back of the school building.

The boys formed a circle — the real Section C.

Ravi stood in the center like he never left.

"We don't prank her. She's not scared of that," Ravi said.

"So what then?" one asked.

Ravi smirked.

"We make her believe someone loves her."

A hush.

"Make her feel like she belongs. Like someone sees her."

"And then?"

"Then we show her it was all fake."

Some boys chuckled nervously.

"Public. Loud. Crushed," Ravi added. "She quits the class herself. No stains on us. Just shame on her."

"But who'll do it?" Shaurya asked.

Everyone turned.

To Reyan.

"She already looks at you differently," Ravi said. "You give her hope, and when she takes the first step forward... you pull it away."

Reyan stared at the dirt.

"She won't fall for it," he said quietly.

"She will," Ravi replied. "They always do when it's their first time."

A long pause.

Then Reyan nodded.

He agreed.

No emotion. No grin.

Just silent betrayal, slipping into place like it belonged there.

Last period.

Ryu dusted her notebook, not noticing Reyan walking toward her.

"You missed a spot," he said, reaching out.

She blinked — confused.

He brushed the chalk gently off her arm.

Her brows pulled slightly together. "What are you doing?"

He smiled. Soft. Kind.

"You always sit alone," he said.

"And?"

"You don't have to."

She looked at him, unsure.

She didn't know yet...

That this was the first touch of poison.

The first thread of the lie.

And from the doorway, Ravi watched it all — arms crossed, smirking.

The game had started.

And Ryu had no idea she was the prize, the pawn, and the target all at once.
