Chapter 4 - A dangerous beauty in the forest

Sonny walks further into the forest by himself. The truth is he's afraid. He's not used to traveling by himself.

He used to go with his parents, either with his mother or his father. Staring at the dark trees and dark shadows, or feeling everything is about to get you.

He knows it's all in his head, so he has to repeat over and over that there's nothing out there, but he needs to keep his guard up.

He walks around and looks for anything to hunt, anything sustainable to eat. A baby bird flew across the trees. A rat is traveling between the holes in the ground.

Sonny slowed down when he noticed something from the corner of his eyes, a sharp white shadow in the darkness.

A vague whiteness. Then a flash….

Sonny went to hide with his heart pounding. What is it…?

Sonny hid behind a tree, his hands clenching behind the bark, and a tall figure appeared in the darkness. A tall one.

A tall figure in a white one with silver hair, holding a silver sword stained with blood dripping to the ground.

Sonny felt chilled to the bones, for he felt a bloodthirsty aura radiating from the youth.

Then another person appeared, a person in a dark robe that looked like it was from a demon sect. That person grinned demonically at the silver-haired figure. "Fool, don't think about getting away from me!"

They fought for another fifteen minutes, each blocking and hitting the other, looking for weakness. The demon grinned demonically and stabbed the figure in the shoulder, but the figure in the white robe didn't grunt.

The demon revealed an annoyed expression, which allowed the other man to take action; he used his blade to strike the other person. The demon was surprised upon seeing the blade cutting straight through his wrist, and he screamed loudly enough to cross the forest.

When the wrist fell across the dirt, he glared at the man in the white robe andvowed with vengeance, "My name is Reggie! And I'll come back for this!"

His eyes were dark as an abyss before he disappeared from his spot.

Sonny stayed in his area, watching the man in the white robe holding the silver sword toward the ground. Sonny felt his heart racing; he wanted to leave but he was afraid to draw attention.

He waited for the other man to leave.

"Come out."

Sonny clenched his hands. How did he know I was here?

Sonny slowly walked out because he felt a cold air on the back of his back. He stood before the other man, who looked coldly at him. "Who are you?"

Sonny licked the bottom of his lips. "…My name is Sonny."

The man lifted his brow. "What is a boy doing out here so far in the forest?"

Sonny spoke cautiously, "I—I was looking for food."

The man stared at him deeply, and Sonny looked down and noticed his sides were bleeding badly. Blood was dripping to the ground. He was injured.

Sonny frowned.

He stated, "You're injured?"

The man faintly curled his lips. "Yea."

Sonny swallows hard. "Do you want me to help you with that?"

Sonny felt stupid asking that; he knows nothing about the man, and he's on a time limit. If he returns late, the men might be angry with him and might hurt him as a result.

But for some reason, he wants to help this man.

Sonny looked at him.

The man has silver hair so long it cascades over his shoulder, a white robe so simple but it makes him very beautiful and elegant, and lips as red as cherries.

The man stared at him, and then he nodded. He walked toward the tree and slowly hissed while he took a seat. He held his side while blood spilled from his hands.

Sonny felt sick, for he remembered his father. How he was injured so badly that he succumbed to his death.

Sonny had to shake his head and slap his cheeks hard in order to shake himself out of it.

He remembered some of the things his father taught him, herbs that can heal injuries and sickness, and so he went deep into the forest searching for the herbs he needed.

He collects different herbs; dirt got collected in his hands and clothes, but he didn't care anymore; all that matters is saving that man's life. He pushed back his hair and carried the herbs in his hands and went back into the man's location, and he smiled in his direction, "Hey, how are you doing?"

The man looked at him but said nothing. Not even a smile.

Sonny wasn't discouraged by it, so he knelt on his knees and set up a fire, cooked up the herbs together, and smashed them together with a rock gently, and he began chatting with the man.

Maybe because he lost his parents tonight, was almost abducted by someone with the servant, and was forced to hunt some animal, or he would be forced to be something. It was nice to talk, a normalcy out of all of this.

After all of this, he finished cooking the herbs, he carefully walked to the man cautiously, and he looked at the man to make sure he wouldn't hurt him or anything.

Sonny asked, "Hey, can you take the robe off? So I can put the medicine on for you."

The man looked at him and the medicine in his hands and nodded his head. He hissed through his teeth and removed his robe from his body, and dried blood stuck to his chest and lower abs.

Sonny tried to smear some of the sticky medicine on his lower abs, and the man let out a soft hiss.

Sonny tried to be a bit more careful. He didn't want to hurt the man, but the pain can't be helped.

The man spoke, "How do you know about the medicine?"

Sonny replied carefully, "My father taught me."

The man stared at him. "Where is your father?"

Sonny felt his heart clench painfully. He swallowed hard; he wanted to speak, but the words were too painful.

The man seemed to sense something, so he didn't say anything. Silence filled the atmosphere; it wasn't the bad one.
