Uchiha Clan- One Hour Before

Sasuke's House-Courtyard

Fukagu was sitting at a table, wearing a black robe instead of his village guard uniform.

He sat with a pair of teacups on the table, waiting for someone.

Time passed slowly, he stopped to count the time.

All the things his wife Mikoto was doing in the last month, he knew it. But he didn't do anything to stop her, not even after discovering yesterday that she had the Mangekyo.

He remembered the nicknames she'd earned back during the two wars. All her battlefield feats were worthy of an epic.

Her tragic reputation had circulated through the clan—until she began to reveal her sharpness. He heard about her but never tried to get closer, both were strangers until the second war ended.

Then she changed.

Her demeanor became more soft and the experience she had during those years was like they did not leave any mark on her.

They met at a reunion, when the former patriarch was alive. Their interactions become more common with time and before he reacted, they married.

Two years before the third war began, she gave birth to Itachi.

It was fast but he felt happy with that, he got married with the strongest woman in the village besides Kushina and now has a son. If she wasn't an Uchiha her name could be in the same level at

Minato, not for strength but reputation.

There's no one who survived in those times that didn't respect and felt fear about her.

The pride he felt was enough to build a monument. But not everything went well. After they marry and start to live together, he notices that something was wrong with her.

She didn't remember the things she did in those years, her memories were always like mist. She didn't have any congruent memories about the war.

Even when the third war began and she returned to the battlefield, she didn't remember those things. Time passed, and the Third War ended—but Mikoto's condition remained unchanged.

The moment he realized it, he felt terrified.

Someone injured my wife

He seeks for doctors and specialists to treat her, but no one found any abnormality, after that, he stopped for a while.

Itachi was five years old and seeing that his son was safe, he tried the last thing: consulting Ikki.

An anomaly in the clan, Ikki had fought alongside Mikoto since her earliest years on the battlefield. They mostly grew up together, yet he'd always seemed invisible.

The second war ended, and he got moved outside the clan. He stopped going on missions and lived with the stipend the clan gave to the war veterans, but he returned to the battlefield with her in the Third War.

The war ended and the Nine-tails attack hadn't happened yet. There was only a few months until that.

One night, long after everyone had gone to sleep.

Even now, he remembered the conversation they'd had that night.

Fugaku stood before Ikki's door, unsure if this was right—his courage, summoned moments ago, was dissolving.

When he turned around and wanted to return from the same path, a voice stopped him.

"Come in—you'd never have entered if I hadn't called you."

Those words squeezed his courage, yet he turned and entered.

He closed the door behind him and walked slowly, following the voice.

The hallway felt like it would never end.

"I was waiting for you, coward."

He called me a coward?

As if Ikki was mocking him, he spoke again.

"Yes—you. I saw everything you did: you knew something was wrong with Mikoto and tried to help her." He paused for a moment. "But that's not it, is it? You simply wanted to use her reputation to crush the opposition. Even now, with your son nearly five, you're still the same."

Fugaku felt mad hearing those words. "What are you talking about?"

"I was with Mikoto in both wars, you know? I saw her growth. When the second war ended, I thought we'd never meet again." Shaking his head, he continued, "But it wasn't like that. We met again in the Third War, and now she has a son."

Fugaku's chest swelled with pride."Yes- he's MY son."

But Ikki just sees him with despises "Don't act like that, bastard. Back then, I didn't know what happened to her to have a child with a bastard like you. I thought that she acts the same in the clan-because I never left the battlefield."

This time Fugaku was confused "No? Why? You were companions."

Without changing his tone, Ikki replied "Because I belonged to the battlefield. We fought together and that's all, I just wanted to protect her back. But the war ended and this time she told me that it was a permanent farewell."

"She never told you about herself?"

"No. The moment the war ended she told me: the Mikoto who I fight with will disappear. Then she went on living with you." Ikki paused. "I didn't agree with her decision, but I respected it. After all, sinners will be punished—sooner or later."

Fugaku didn't respond. He followed the sound and finally saw it.

Tens of flower paintings—each a different hue—adorned the room. Some resembled eyes. Ikki sat, painting another.

An eye surrounded by those same petals.

Ikki didn't turn; he simply continued painting.

"Beautiful, isn't it? These flowers are like her—despite all her tragic experiences, she kept living, hopeful for the future." His expression softened with pity. "But even after all those years—and having a son—she can't let go of the past."

"..."

His expression became determined, as he was completely secure "But I knew it: one day the flower would bloom. And I'll be there—her Shield once more."

Fugaku was speechless, but he got the answer he wanted. Mikoto was fine, she simply didn't want to remember the war.

His expression changed to one of disdain. "Crazy bastard, keep your eyes, I will live with her and you will continue in this hole." He turned back to leave the house.

Ikki's voice sounded again. "I told you, Fugaku. The coward will sin. And thank you—I'll keep my eyes open to witness it."

Fugaku clenched his fist but didn't answer.

"Aha, just run. Do as you always have, you useless bastard."

Fugaku couldn't stay calm with those words.

"What the hell do you want?! You-" his words got stuck in his throat. He saw Ikki's eyes, they had a pattern. A shield pattern.

"I said—stop the act, you useless bastard. My eyes may not be as good as hers, but they're enough to deal with you."

Fugaku hadn't expected him to possess those eyes; the rage he felt seconds before turned to caution and fear.

He left the scene and never looked for him again.

---|---|----|----|

Letting go a sigh, Fugaku felt complicated.

Three sets of Mangekyō? What is this?

While he was thinking like that, footsteps echoed from inside the house.

Shaking off his thoughts, he waited for him.

A few seconds later, he appeared.

Itachi, his eldest son.

Fugaku gestured for him to sit, Itachi obeyed and sat before him.

Itachi was the first to talk.

"You argued with Mother too, didn't you, Father?"

Fugaku was silent, but he finally replied.

"Yes- your mother... she's finally recovered."

"I never thought that my mother had that kind of past."

"She was the strongest, but once they discovered her amnesia, they erased almost every record of her."

"... But I found it."

Staring into his son's eyes, Fugaku asked, "Because they wanted you to do it… what's your choice, Itachi?"

With a solemn expression, Itachi assured him. "You know the answer, father. I do everything for the village."

Seeing his son speak with such fanatic conviction felt strange.

"Are you sure about that? You know what your mother could do."

Itachi shook his head and replied with confidence. "She will understand my good intentions, everything is for a greater good."

"... If you say so. But don't touch them..."

"Thanks, father."

Once everyone was asleep, Itachi moved. Three clones dispersed in different directions while the main body stayed in the courtyard.

He needs to do it in silence and for that, the murder will be extremely careful.

He targeted the elders of both factions first—if he took down the strongest, the rest would follow easily.

The fight was tough for the clones; the elders blocked two out of three strikes before the poison took effect. His father helped by creating a barrier so no one else was alerted.

Itachi's clones continued killing the elders until there's no more. Feeling that the things would be easy and can complete the mission of the Third, he thanked his father again.

Fugaku offered only a bitter smile and spoke quietly. "Your mother is back, and... Ikki is with her."

Itachi continued with his confident attitude. "Don't worry, father. Mother will understand and support us."

"..." But Fugaku knew it, the less that his son will receive from her will be her support. He thought that his son could do it before she awoke, but fate spat in his face.

Itachi didn't think to stop his actions; he simply waited for his mother to return so he could tell her.

Suddenly, his clones' senses dulled and then vanished. Then, the pain went throughout his whole body. Reading the memories of his clones, he saw it. The clones didn't simply vanish—they turned to ash, and a grey flower sprouted from the remains.

This kind of pain was something he never experienced before, he gasped for air. Then he noticed it, his father didn't say anything, and the courtyard was in silence.

Until footsteps echoed once more.

Regaining his senses, he saw her.

His mother was slowly walking to them. Although the distance was afar, he could hear the steps.

Fugaku seemed dejected, as he knew things wouldn't go as his son wanted.

No one says anything. The side of them was in silence, and Mikoto was followed by Ikki's shadow.

Fugaku knew that they didn't stand a chance, but he had the last hope. He hopes that she could allow it. As long as Sasuke survived, he can accept any result.

...

Mikoto stopped about five meters away, and Ikki placed the seat he'd been carrying for her.

As if it were the most natural thing, she stared at them.

Fugaku could see it; this is a version of his wife that he never knew, even after more than fifteen years.

Mikoto just sat in silence, she could handle it, but Itachi couldn't.

"Mother... will you support me in this? They promised that they won't touch Sasuke." He spoke, not in a pleading tone, but as if he were sure that she would support him if he mentioned his brother.

Mikoto looked his spectacle in silence.

Itachi took it as he thought that she wasn't convinced about the promise. "You don't need to worry, mother. The third and Danzo promised me."

Fugaku closed his eyes.

Mikoto didn't let him wait for an answer.

"Itachi. Are you stupid?"

The small smile Itachi always wore froze. His mother called him stupid?

"I say it again- are you stupid? Who do you think you are to make that decision?"

"But, mother. This is for a greater good, this is for the Will-"

She shook her hand "Shut up. Do you think that or do they? The only thing you can say is Will of fire to excuse your shit?

"..."

"Answer me now. It's an order."

"... We need to do this to save the village." Itachi answered with his head down.

The only thing he received from his mother was despise "We? Who's we? Save from what? The only thing I see is a pair of bastards who think that they are above everyone." She paused for a moment and turned his gaze to Fugaku. "And you- damn imbecile- You would accept all this stupid farce? Just let all the clan die to not take the responsibility?"

"... I did what I could."

"Ikki, bring Sasuke here."

The shadow disappears without any sound.

"Mikoto, don't you dare-"Not only Fugaku, but Itachi had the same expression. They didn't want Sasuke to know these things.

Mikoto just ignored them and a few seconds later, Ikki appeared holding a sleepy Sasuke.

Softly petting Sasuke's head, Mikoto asks again.

"Now, both of you, tell Sasuke what you did and what you intended to do."

Fugaku answered for them both. "Don't involve him in this."

The sleepy Sasuke just finally awakes and sees the situation. "Mom? Dad? Nii-san?..."

Cradling Sasuke in her arms, Mikoto replied. "I didn't ask again, say it before I take action."

None of them dared speak the truth. "Mikoto, we can talk about this..."

"That was your last chance. Now is my turn." As she spoke, her pupils shifted into a Myosotis pattern.

Seeing that scene, Fugaku and Itachi tried to look away but it was too late. The eyes of both changed in the same pattern and small flowers began to appear on their bodies.

"You start, Fugaku."

"Understand. I knew what Itachi wanted to do but I didn't try to stop him–because I didn't know how to deal with the conflict between the village and the clan. I helped him to kill the elders of the clan to be sure that no one could stop him."

"Now it's your turn, Itachi."

"I saw Shisui's death at the hands of Danzo, and I lost hope seeing the internal conflicts in the clan. The Hokage and the Councill promise me that if I kill all the clan and become an informant, they will keep Sasuke alive and protect him."

Placing a hand on her chin, Mikoto nodded, satisfied. "Mm that's not all, but fine, it's enough."

Sasuke was hearing, he couldn't believe the things they said. "Mom... What are my father and Nii-san saying?"

Mikoto kissed Sasuke's cheek. "They say that because they're sinners, Sasuke. If I don't stop them tonight, tomorrow the clan will be a sea of corpses. Including me, your mother."

Sasuke felt astonished, and Mikoto could see how her son's eyes slowly turned red.

"Come, I need to show you the things your brother and father did." Hugging Sasuke, she starts to walk towards the houses Itachi's clones were in before. Fugaku and Itachi followed them, like puppets.

Mikoto continued going through the houses of the elders and they could see it, all of them were dead. No one survived Itachi's murderer. After that, they returned to the courtyard and everyone took the same position as before, as they never left the scene.

Ikki knew that Mikoto didn't know at all that she wouldn't show that spectacle to her son, but he remained in silence. That's not his job.

Sasuke couldn't hide his trembling voice, the kid felt fear seeing those scenes."Mom... who did this?"

Pointing at them, Mikoto said with a smile. "They did it, Sasuke. Those bastards couldn't handle the responsibility, and their response was to kill everybody- if everyone were dead, they wouldn't have to take responsibility.

"Why? They were our family..."

"Ask them, Sasuke. I will let you do it, don't worry." Turning at them, she snaps her fingers. "Wake up, you pair of useless."

Leaving the illusion, they saw it: Sasuke was looking at them with doubt and a bit of fear on his face.

A silent panic gripped them.

Oh no...

"Mikoto, what have you done?!"

This time both of them opened their Mangekyo, they didn't want to fall into another illusion.

"Why are you barking? Just show the things you- loving father and son pair did. Isn't that the thing you wanted to show him tomorrow? Isn't it the same?" She tilted her head in pure confusion.

They wanted to argue with her, but the things she said were true.

Sasuke's voice took them out of their thoughts.

"Fater, Nii-san... is what mom said true?"

"Sasuke, it's not what it seems"

"Sasuke, you need to trust us, we do the best for the village." As always, Itachi spoke as a cultist.

"Say the truth or I will do it again, your eyes couldn't resist me." Mikoto's pupils began to whirl.

He realized it wasn't a request—it was an order. If they don't obey, she will do it again.

Letting out a big sigh, Fugaku was the first to talk. "It's true, all your mother told you was true, Sasuke." The moment he finished his words, it seemed as if he suddenly aged.

"Father!" Itachi felt rage, why did his father give in to her?

Fugaku just shook his head. "Say the truth, Itachi. We couldn't win against her."

"He's right, Itachi. Say it quickly, I haven't got all night; there are rats to clean up.

Turning his gaze to her son, Sasuke, she could see how his son almost awakened his Sharingan.

Sasuke fixed Itachi with his gaze, waiting for him to deny the accusations.

Looking away from his brother, Itachi starts to speak. "It's true, Sasuke. We wanted to kill the clan... but it's for a greater good, you need to trust us! It's the only way!" At the end of his words, he was yelling.

Hearing his brother admit their sin, Sasuke awakened his Sharingan- it was one magatama but the shadow of the second was perceptible.

Mikoto gives him a huge kiss on his cheek "Good jog, Sasuke! Now you too have the sharingan"

To which Sasuke just cried and fell asleep, he couldn't handle the shock of the truth.

Mikoto looked sideways and spoke. "Ikki, destroy the elder's eyes and block the way to the rat who is seeing us."

"Understood, Mikoto-sama." As he spoke, a red barrier began to cover all the space.

"Hey! don't do that! it was just getting interesting!" A playful voice sounded from one of the trees near them.

"Mm who are you? I felt that someone was watching us, but I didn't know about you." Mikoto just looked at him with curiosity, she wasn't worried about him.

Itachi recognizes him, it was the man who told him to cooperate.

"Be more respectful, young lady. You're talking with your leader, Uchiha Madara."

... Everyone who was watching fell stunned, except Mikoto.

"Pfff you? Madara? He's dead and... even if he was alive, he never would be a stupid bastard like you. Now shut up, I'm dealing with a family problem."

The man who called himself Madara(Obito) remained in silence, but everyone could feel that he was really mad. Surprise for everyone, he didn't say anymore and stood there.

"Sasuke is sleeping, send him to his room, Ikki." Mikoto gives Sasuke to him.

Ikki disappeared.

"Now, it's time for the dogfight. One of you needs to die and the other must carry the sin. Start fighting."

"Mikoto, you couldn't do this-"

"I said– fight." As she spoke, a vast field of flowers erupted in the courtyard, forming a natural arena.

No one expected that scene. She just created a battlefield as she wanted? Obito was the most scared, the field the other man Ikki created was enough to stop any teleportation near them, but that field? If he entered, there was no escape than winning the fight.

Who the hell are her eyes?! He started to run, but no one stopped him.

"Don't come back. If you did, even if I can't kill you, I would inflict you all the pain you deserve." Mikoto's words sounded near him, and he didn't ask why. He just kept running.

Everyone was paying attention to the arena, but the fight that all of them expected didn't start.

Fugaku just sits at dawn, waiting for his son to take his life. Itachi was slowly approaching him, he knew that was the only way to survive. But the rage he felt continued to increase.

It's the only way! Why can't she see it?!

Mikoto didn't respond to his wishes.

Shaking her head, she talks again. "No, Fugaku. If you don't want to fight, I have another destiny for you. Take, feel the past, if you can endure it, you must survive."

Her eyes shine with a black light and then. Black Myosotis begins to appear in all of Fugaku's body. When his body was completely covered in it, he stopped moving.

Time continued to pass.

So, this is the sin Ikki told that time? Ah...

Fugaku's body dissolved, and a beautiful field of White Myosotis appeared on the ground.

Everyone felt a chill watching that scene.

Mikoto turned his gaze to Itachi, who was astonished.

"Now it's your turn, since you didn't want to fight, you must carry the sin for the rest of your life. I know you can't accept it. So, suffer in silence." Grey Myosotis-like ghosts appeared on Itachi's body, he couldn't touch it, but they were real.

His mother gives him the punishment.

With that finished, she talked again. But not for one who's near, she did it looking at the Hokage's building, where two shadows could be seen.

"If you try to do anything again, I won't kill you—but your clans will never escape. Remain hidden, like the rats you are."

Leaving her seat, she starts walking to her home.

Seeing Ikki who was guarding the house, she smiled. "Thank you, Ikki. Maybe later we could take a sunbath together."

"It would be an honor, Mikoto-sama. Rest well." The barrier disappeared and he returned to his home.

Itachi continues watching, waiting for his mother's words.

"Those flowers will follow you for your entire life. You can continue trying to convince yourself you were right, but the pain you feel doesn't lie. I'm not the one who delivers the punishment—I just follow instructions. You have to pay the price for your actions, Itachi.

You are no longer my son. Farewell."

Her silhouette disappeared as she went to sleep; her son waited for her. As she notices Sasuke watching from the window.

Itachi stood speechless.

Gritting his teeth, he slowly walked away.

I'm right, and time will prove it.

This is the last chapter of this small act!

Please leave a comments. I want to know what do you think about this rewrite. Only a few people leave comment, and I don't know if I'm going it well.

Fugaku knew the whole time that his wife isn't normal, but he didn't wait for the intervention of a third party. If no one told her the truth, her destiny would be the same as the canon: die without knowing the reason.

Ikki having the Mangekyo is fine, if the trauma was enough everyone could have it. The fact that his only friend died in front of him and he didn't know the reason, was enough for him to achieve it. It's only for protection, he's the shield, not the spear.

I loved thinking about Mikoto's skills. There is:

Bōkatensei- Rebirth Through the Forgotten Blossom: Unable to let go of the past, Mikoto remembers all his actions, the trauma she suffered from her death's parents and passing through two wars in a short time made her unable to live with it, that's why she had amnesia of that period of time.

She uses it on his enemies to face their past. All the things they passed through they need to face, but not as adults; as kids, teenagers, they incarnate their ignorant version.

If they can't handle it, their bodies will dissolve in white petals to make way for a new life.

Second one:

Haikyu Jōkon-Soul Cleansing Through Ashen Sin

This time she didn't show the past, for the name is obvious and the chapter told it. She didn't give the punishment, she just handed it out. They saw themselves as Mikoto did: guilty, stained, unable to redeem himself. She felt guilty for not saving her mother and the fact that her mother showed her the whole process made her unable to forget that.

There's no physic torture or something like that, you must need to carry with your decisions. Every life you take, the decisions that hurt others, the sin others impose on you.

You must accept your sin, live with it, without looking for excuses. The more time you stay in that state, your soul fragments, unable to die or live.

The field she created is just a expansion and use their skills in the ground.

She is really traumatized; she didn't think that her actions about showing Sasuke that spectacle could ruin her child, she showed the truth as she lived it.

Don't worry about Mikoto, she won't change history. At least not for the things that matter. She simply saves her clan.

Itachi being a cultist, nothing new.

Next, Naruto will begin to search for the truth.
