As the next few days went on, the citizens voted on installing a Mastocratic Government, which passed with an eighty-five percent yes vote. While the Key Council knew this peace couldn't last, they ordered the Greater Ottawans to make the most of it. The CIMCO Foundry was cranking out iron and steel as fast as it could. Libbey-Owens-Ford cranked out tanks, aircraft parts, and automobiles that ran on kerosene. SB Plant Foods and Strong and Strong Ag. were taking the farmers' crops faster and faster as the Greater Ottawan Agricultural and Industrial powerhouses cranked up to their maximum outputs.
The Ghost of Ottawa, along with his Grandpa, Archie (the Key Council's Leader), assisted the construction, agriculture, and industrial sectors of Greater Ottawa. The Senecan Preppers build ships and landing vehicles able to carry the Greater Ottawan Navy to victory. Meanwhile, John Hladovcak, General of the Greater Ottawan Air Corps, had pilots drilling, adjusting to the variety of B-17s, B-36s, P-51s, and SB2U-2s, all preparing for potential combat. Everywhere Inferna and Goldbeard went, while touring the city, Greater Ottawans were working hard to improve the quality of life, outer city defenses, and work towards Archie's big goal. Despite voting in Mastocracy, Archie held firm to the belief in "Peace through Strength" and had the entire city ready to show off just how much the "Friendly City" could do.
However, once he had time, Archie slipped away from everyone, driven by the Ghost just Northeast of the Northside of Greater Ottawa. There, far outside of anyone's gaze, the Autowa rumbled to a stop, with gravel-crunching footsteps transitioning into the sounds of grass underfoot. Eventually, two pairs of shoes stopped walking, as Archie and Ghost placed new flowers in the vase of Archie's late wife, Patricia (Grandma of the Ghost). Archie's white hair swayed in the breeze, his eyes stung softly as he removed the dead flowers from the tombstone. The Ghost placed a sealed red feather from her Red Hat Ladies hat above her name plaque. His copper eyes stung, and he felt his heart throb with a pained sorrow for the hole left in both of their hearts after Patricia's death. She had no monuments, no gardens, no parks in her honor. Instead, what she left behind was the warm touch of a loving hand upon their hearts. As they walked away, the Ghost turned around, looking out over the cemetery, eyes burning from the pain. He dried the welled-tears out of the corners of his eyes, then hopped into the Autowa and drove both of them back to town. As the mid-afternoon set in, Greater Ottawa was still hard at work. Archaeologists examined the Ruins within the Klondike Valley. As it turns out, the people who used to live here had been wiped out by the early crusades of the church...
Meanwhile, deep within the Church of Humanity's catacombs, the Bishop walked down a long corridor, escorted by two guards. Upon reaching a grand door, the Bishop left his guards outside and took his place seated near the Pope. "My faithful servants of God. I have gathered you here today to review what has transpired regarding the former Ruins of the Klondike Valley, the Tribal Dragonnewt Village of Igneous, and our next objective." The Pope's words echoed in the magically protected room. As the Cardinals, Bishop, and other high-ranking clergymen spoke, the Bishop shook his head. "It would seem these, "Greater Ottawans," are human, and do not seek any forms of protection the Church has to offer. Rather, seems they are adamant to make an enemy of the Church." Stated the Bishop, clearing his throat before continuing. "Furthermore, those known as Greater Ottawa intervened in our cleansing of the Dragonnewt people. The Igneous Chiefess, Inferna, has allied with these powerful newcomers. Now, there are those speculating that the Dwarves of the Hackenberk Mountains are going to seek to ally with Greater Ottawa."
The Pope slammed his fists down upon the stone table. "WE MUST PURGE THESE HERETICS!" His voice calmed as he took a deep breath. "I shall call upon the demons and angels that our Lord, God, has allied with us. We shall send the Heavenly Legion, Demonic Onslaught, and our fleet of warships to Hackenberk Pass. They will bring those Dwarves under our rule... or bring down the Cobalt Mountain upon their godforsaken heads!" The room erupted in praise and cheers at the Pope's plans. As the Pope left the room, he was teleported up to the top of Mankind's Outstretched Arm, a tower that pierced the heavens, where he met with the Head of the Archangels and the Leader of the Demonic Sins.
"Ah, the Pope graces us with his presence. To what do we owe the pleasure?" Asked Head Archangel. The Demonic Sin's leader sneered and shook his head. "Such purity is just... disgusting." The Pope slammed his staff on the ground, silencing them both. "Now, gather your legions, gather all of them. Go, you have been tasked by the Will of God to either subjugate the Dwarves of Hackenberk Mountains, or bring that Cobalt mountain down on them. Do you understand? You are to force them to bow to us, or wipe them all out."
The Archangel and the Demon nodded and left at once, gathering their legions, then departing on their three-day flight from the Holy city. However, while none of the Holy Church could have seen this coming, the Star-Spangled Assassin, Bobby Marshall, got word back to Greater Ottawa of his situation once he'd safely escaped the city. "...That's correct—angels, Demons, and a whole fleet of ships will attack the Dwarves three days from now. Get word to the Dwarves and Ghost... Get there before the Holy Church's forces do. Star-Spangled Assassin, out. Radio static filled the headphones as the Ghost took off the headset and raced to the airfield. "PILOT! GET OVER THE DWARVES OF THE MOUNTAIN! TELL THEM HELL IS COMING, AND WE'RE COMING TOO!" Yelled the Ghost at the Huey pilot, handing him the note and sending him off to warn the Dwarves.
