Chapter 5 - HSFR 4: Creating a Checklist

Esmé stares at her phone. Sure, she had a plan, but she would have to make a checklist of what needs to be done, just in case she might have forgotten something.

She opened a note app on her phone so she can begin typing.

First of all, she wants to topple the mountain of riches Dominic's family has. She had some ideas on where to begin.

The Goldern family has supermarket businesses scattered in the country. If she could somehow amass all of their supplies since she had a space, she'll take them all.

Though it would seem like a small blow, it would still be something. Besides, if all of their supermarket started getting raided on seemingly the same day, they would think that it was someone from their own family who is betraying them.

Esmé had never shown any interest in any businesses her family had, let alone would she care for what Dominic's family had. Besides, all that they knew was that she is still on the bed in a hospital, since Dominic never visited her there.

She remembered in her past life that the only reason why Dominic knew that she was awake was because she sent him a message to come and fetch her. Now, she didn't want to.

Esmé will come to him once she is done taking everything away but before they found out about what she had done.

How would they find out it was her? No one would ever.

If her initial plan fails, she still hoped that she had enough space for other plans.

Weapon.

She needs a lot of weapons.

Because she is weak, sickly and easily injured, her parents never forced her to take self-defense lessons because her body might not be able to take it. It means that she doesn't have the stamina to fight close-ranged, but she could find a way to get gun handling lessons.

She plans to learn in secret. It is a way to defend herself just in case Dominic comes for her after she dumps him in the altar a month from now. Oh-so-little time, but she will manage.

Esmé wonders if she can put an entire house inside the space the pearl provides? If she could, maybe she can just go somewhere far and live a simple life in a countryside.

Then again, that is just wishful thinking. She needs to think as if the space is not unlimited, because it probably wouldn't be one. She had to make sure that the priority is to cripple Dominic's family's businesses so that they struggle.

The things she will get from there are just extra bonuses.

If there are more things that she had to put in her space and it runs out, Esmé might have to find a way to expand it. She's not even sure if it is possible.

She had read some fantasy books about how it could be possible but this is the real life. She's not sure which one would work until she tries it.

As she thought more about it, she saw a notification popped down as a banner. It is from a social media app. She was sent a message in it, a username she has never seen before. Having not opened it in a while with curiosity burning within her, she pressed it.

She is sent to an inbox conversation with the person. Esmé raised an eyebrow at that.

The profile picture is the default one before anyone puts their own images for it, not to mention that the account is empty with no post, when Esmé looked at the profile itself.

Still, the message sent to her made her feel a bit of curiosity with a cold feeling of dread went down her back.

[ Stockpile with as much as you need and want. Necessities, most of all. You don't need to know who I am. Just heed my advice and you will survive. I wish you luck. ]

What does the message mean? Esmé has no idea. But her plan could very well extend with what the message is sent to her.

She didn't realize that it was time to go until there is a knock on the door. This time, there is a different nurse who came in. But there is a smile on her face.

"I'm here to help you prepare for discharge." She says, approaching her.

Esmé simply nodded her head.

With the IV drip and everything else removed from her person and the machines turned off, Esmé stands up from the bed.

The nurse gestured to the bathroom. "I'm sure you're already aware but your ensuite washroom has a simple shower so you can use that before leaving." She reminds her.

"Right. Thanks for reminding me. Where do you want me to put the hospital gown?" Esmé asked, looking down on the hospital gown she is wearing.

"There is a laundry basket inside. You can just leave it there." The nurse says. "I'll be here in your room and cleaning up. Just open the door and call for me if you need any help."

"Will do. Thank you."

Esmé took a short, hot shower. She felt a little weird and awkward, because she is not bathing in her home. Still, she won't be coming here anymore anyway, so that's fine.

When she is done, she left the bathroom wearing her clothes she wore before ending up here. She gave the nurse a brief nod and soon enough, she is in the lobby, signing her discharge documents.

"I could've done that for you." A voice came from behind Esmé.

Esmé shook her head, already done signing as she returned the clipboard and turns to face her best friend. "There's no need. Besides, I'm fine now. Shall we?"

Abigail shrugs. "I came as soon as I can. You know how shit the traffic is."

As they made their way to the parking, Abigail looked up at the sky. "It feels like it's going to rain. Do you still want to eat lunch out?"
