Chapter 22 - Lynx

Orea walked back towards the others, sitting alone quietly, she pondered on Lynx's words,..'you might be friends with the enemy'..what the hell could he mean by that?.., she was so deep in thought that she didn't notice Valtor take his seat next to her.

Are you okay, he playfully nudged her arm as he glanced at her

Staring into his blue eyes, she smiled as she replied,.. 'Yeah, I'm fine'.

I noticed you were gone for a while, he searched her face in curiousity

Um..yeah, I talked with Lynx..a little

About what?, he wondered

About his visions, she replied, as she slightly shifted her gaze

And, did he say anything?

Nope,..he still won't talk about it

Trust issues... Valtor muttered under his breath, there's definitely something ominous about that guy.

While he talked, Orea continued to stare into his eyes as Lynx's words seemed to pop up in her head for some reason..

Speaking of visions, she continued, did you never see any or maybe at some point remember anything at all about your past?

Valtor's gaze fixed at her, as he replied, I wish I did, I would've loved to know even the slightest information about my past, but all I got was that note and I still have no idea who left it.

Yeah, she sighed as she glanced elsewhere.

Hey,..Valtor gently brushed her chin as he turned her face to meet his gaze, scanning through her features, he asked, " what's bothering you?".

Observing him, not only could she hear the sincerity in his tone,..she imagined no evil could possibly be found in those innocent blue eyes,..Lynx either had to be a liar or highly delusional.

Nothing's bothering me, she finally replied, I'm just overwhelmed by...all this, she glanced around their dimly lit environment.

Me too, he gave her a knowing look,..

I know we're stuck here for now, but we're going to find our way home, somehow,.. I'm sure of it.

She smiled a little as he pulled her into an embrace, with her chin resting on his shoulders, her eyes drifted shut in comfort as she settled into his warmth while he stroked her back reassuringly.

She subconsciously smiled at his touch .., on opening her eyes, Orea met Lynx's piercing gaze, though from afar, his gaze lasted long, boring holes into her skin, then slowly but finally, he looked away.

Orea was highly taken aback by his strange actions, she continued to stare in his direction as she wondered,.."who exactly is this guy".

Orea got up, she had some errands to make. she walked through a bushy path, greeting everyone she came across while they recripocated the gesture. She probably knew everyone around here, it was home after all..

On finally getting to the river, she crouched as she lay her drum by the bed about to fill it up. Briefly scanning her surroundings, she saw 'him' again. The same boy she always found by the riverside, he worked for a fishmonger who sourced for his merchandise in her hometown, neither of them belonged here, their skin colour set them apart from everyone else.

Feeling heavy stares on him, the boy glanced in her direction, meeting the familiar face whose gaze remained unfazed. If stares could kill, surely he would've died a long time ago.

They continued to hold their gazes in silence till his employer's loud voice rang out

Lynx!, he called out, we're done for the day, get the boat ready!

The boy quickly moved away as he commenced his task while Orea continued to watch in curiousity,.. suddenly she began to hear someone call her name, looking around for the source of the voice, she found no one.

She wondered in confusion as the voice seemed to be coming from up,.. glancing at the sky, she was met by a blinding ray of sunlight, which later became shadowed by Valtor's warm gaze as he stood above her.

Good morning, he greeted while she briefly shut her eyes on realizing she had been dreaming.

Sorry for cutting off your sleep, he apologized as soon as she shot her eyes back open.

We were about to go hunting, so I thought to wake you, he continued.

We'll be leaving in twenty minutes, but you're free to rest if you don't want to come with, he grazed her arm before walking off.

Orea sighed as she lay her head back in thought,..the dream slowly began to replay in her head as she recalled a specific character.

'Lynx', she muttered to herself.
