The group trudged eastward towards the direction of the city, their pace sluggish as the scorching sun's rays pierced through their skin
Kymani let out a long sigh as he crouched to his knees to complain,..you know I'm starting to miss the forest, at least we had a lot of shade under the heat.
I know, I would cool off the heat but I don't have any strength left, Orea added as she ran her hands through her hair, causing her curls to flow backwards while Valtor subconsciously smirked on watching.
Zara glanced back at Kymani,..yeah, I'm tired too,...and we still have a long way to go, so I guess we should stop here for today, she glanced at Valtor for his opinion
Yeah, let's call it a day, he agreed, ..
Hours later, it began to grow dark and they all lay asleep.
Soon the weather grew cold.
As the cold air enveloped her, Orea clutched herself tightly as she shivered uncontrollably, causing her to stay awake throughout the night.
Whatever happened to the weather?,..she thought as she sat up, her eyes widening in surprise at what she saw
Wake up!,.. everyone get up!, she yelled as she glared at the walls of ice that surrounded them while the others also began to exclaim in shock
We're being ambushed, Valtor concluded as his eyes glowed yellow. He surged forward with a fire blast with which he created a massive hole in the icy wall before them.
They immediately ran through and stood at alert as they searched for their captor, finding noone.
Someone or something has to be out here, Zara said as she glanced at the others,..'we can't have walls of ice grow overnight'
As soon as she was done speaking,..an ice spike suddenly flew towards them which she managed to dodge by a hair's breadth.
More spikes followed, causing her to immediately create a shield barrier around them.. glancing around, she asked,..is everyone okay?
Yeah, though it'd be better if we knew where the attacker was, Valtor replied, these things seem to be flying from every direction
Orea bent down to pick one of the sharp icy crystals on the ground, as she did, an idea immediately popped in her mind, Zara how long can you hold that? she asked
Not much longer, Zara replied
I have an idea, Orea announced as her eyes turned grey. She stretched her arms towards the sky, causing the sun to rise...if we can't fight back, we can at least weaken the attack, she explained,.. sunlight should have an effect on ice right?
The spikes would melt before getting to us,..Valtor realized,..good idea
As the weather turned scorching hot, the spikes now felt like rain drops as they melted before them, Zara immediately took the barrier down.
Kymani glanced at the others before announcing,..I'll go track down whatever's out there, "see what we're up against", with that, he turned invisible
Wait!, Orea called out as she stretched an arm towards him, I'll go with you.
Orea immediately felt Kymani's grip on her arm, causing her to also go invisible, to Zara's surprise..
What about us?, the wavy-haired girl spoke up after recovering from the shock,..do we just wait here?
Once we find the source of the attack, I'll send you a signal..you'll know it when you see it, an invisible Orea replied as they moved away.
Valtor and Zara glanced at each other as they remained in the same spot,..the spikes,.. 'they've stopped', he announced on noticing
whatever's sending it probably knows we're onto it
Woah,..Zara suddenly yelled,..her reaction was mirrored by Valtor's as the grass beneath them suddenly grew and twisted, pinning their legs firmly to the ground.
What..the hell!, she glanced at Valtor who rolled his eyes in frustration.
Still holding hands, Orea and Kymani moved stealthily as they glanced around the open field, seeing nothing but two weirdly shaped bushes standing in the middle of nowhere. As Orea looked elsewhere, Kymani continued to stare at it's weird shape in curiousity.
Is it just me or did that plant just move?, he suddenly spoke up causing Orea to immediately avert her gaze back to the plants, noticing a pair of arms protruding from one of them....those aren't trees!, She realized, those are people disguised as trees!
She immediately released her hand and sent lightning into the clouds, causing her to go visible in the process
As she did so, one of the attackers noticed her from afar and whispered something to the other
Orea watched as a human masqueraded as a tree began to approach her..
This should be interesting...she thought.
