Chapter 3 - second victim

A ward boy lies motionless on the pavement.

His wrist is slit, and something is stuffed in his mouth — a folded piece of paper.

Max bends down and removes it.

Written in red, smudged ink — or maybe blood:

"You didn't guess on time."

Max (furious):

Shit...

(Roy comes rushing from the other side, breathing heavy.)

---

Roy:

I heard—

(then sees the body)

Oh… damn.

Max (grim):

He's not just a killer.

He's a mastermind.

Roy (looking around nervously):

Wait… does this mean he's still here?

Max:

Yes.

You stay here — watch for anyone suspicious.

I'm heading to the CCTV room.

(He starts walking off, then pauses.)

Max (suspicious):

By the way... where's the coffee?

Roy (quickly):

I was in the queue when I heard the scream.

I dropped everything and ran here.

Max (nods):

Alright. Go.

(They split — Roy stays behind, and Max heads off.)

---

Max (to himself, intense):

He's challenging me now.

And I love a challenge.

You'll be standing in front of me soon...

A lone shadowy figure stands silently on the upper parking platform — not visible to Max or anyone at the scene.

The wind brushes past as the figure watches Max walk away from a distance.

VOICE (low, calm, chilling):

"Of course… as you wish."

The shadow turns slowly… and disappears into the deeper darkness of the structure.

Max (frustrated, staring at the screen):

Come on… I can't be seeing the same figure again.

(He leans in, rewinding footage)

Was it a different person?

No… that note rules that out.

(He bites his nails, then dials Roy.)

---

CUT TO: HALLWAY – ROY ON CALL

Roy (tired):

Sir, no one seems suspicious.

Actually, everyone who passed by had medicine or reports in hand.

Max:

Did you check the reports?

Roy:

Yeah.

I'm starting to feel like a ticket collector guy, not a detective.

Max:

Okay… are you hungry?

Roy:

Of course.

I left my breakfast midway — and didn't even get that coffee.

Max:

Alright. Let's take a break.

Roy (relieved):

Finally.
