Chapter 3 - Chapter - 3

Throwing it in the air, she muttered and covered her ears. The bracelet turned into a beautiful white bird in the next moment.

Edel, Edel, Edel. I hate you; I hate you; I hate you. You made me starve for three days."

Edel was expecting this, so after the bird stopped speaking, she uncovered her ears.

"Keep your voice down," Edel warned her, and the bird turned to the door.

"Not there. We are in the middle of the forest. You can eat wild fruits here, so go outside."

The bird, without any delay, flew outside through the window and was about to cross the window when Edel called it out.

"Come back soon. We have to leave, he is coming to get us," she said in a hushed tone.

"Don't worry, Edel, I will be back soon." The bird nodded its head and flew outside.

Edel smiled and looked outside. Seeing that there is some time before the bird comes, she lies down to take a nap.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Edel, look here." A handsome, generously proportioned man called out a little girl, who was playing outside a small house.

Edel stopped after hearing her name and turned to look at man coming towards her.

"Father" she ran to him calling out in joy.

Reaching to her father she hugged his leg and the man lifted her in his arms while laughing.

"My child" the man kissed her cheeks lovingly "Look, What I bought for you from the forest?"

Edel who was happily sitting on her father's arm looked where her was gesturing. A small blue bird was sitting on the other shoulder of his father made her eyes wide in amazement.

"Woah, is it for me father?" she asked, innocently with her blue eyes looking at the bird. While trying to touch it carefully extending her small hands.

"Yes, My girl. It's for you." He replied and laughed on her cute action" Wait dear." her father stopped her, seeing that the bird was about to fly away.

This made the Edel's face dropped, and she looked at her father as if she was about to cry. Her father who was well aware of child's stubborn nature, smiled and let Edel stand on the ground. taking out a knife from his waist, he made a small cut on Edel finger and let the blood on her finger touch between the bird's eyes.

In the second moment the bird cried out in pain and fainted. Catching it in his palm, he shows it to Edel. Edel who was also looking curiously at bird turned serious and worried for it. Turning at her father, she wanted to ask what happened, but he replied first.

"It's normal, Edel. It will wake up in few minutes." He assured her and gave the bird to Edel.

"My child from now on, this is your playmate and best friend." Edel who was gently holding the bird in her palm nodded while looking it.

"It will protect you from any danger Edel." He muttered under his breath and patted her head.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Edel woke up from her nap and the tears flowed out of her eyes. Thinking of the dream she just had, made her remember the memories, she was most afraid of.

"Father;" A voice covered with pain and longing escaped from her mouth.

Covering her face she unknowingly started sobbing without voice. After a while her eyes changed with a determination and she turned to look at the window. A shadow hidden in the darkness of the night can be seen clearly on window. Getting of the bed she went to the window. And the shadow disappeared after few moments. The light in her eyes dimmed as she looked outside in daze and pain.

"Father, Mother. You both will have to wait some more for me. I will find you soon." Looking at sky that was turning into the three shades of dawn, she called out.

"Edel" a sharp voice of the bird sounded beside her ears, making her startled and angry.

The bird lowered it's head and kept quite under her glare. The action made Edel smile and thought of the only thing left behind by her father for her as a companion.

"Have you eaten enough?" she asked.

Without looking up the bird nodded it's head and Edel smile again. Patting it's head she looked at the sky again.

"It is time for us to leave. He will be here at any time." she spoke while touching the diamond of her necklace, that was emitting a faint blue light.

The bird finally looked and nodded. The next second she leaped of the window and jumped out from the second floor. If anyone she her like this, would never believe that she is the same pitiful girl living at the village.

Looking back at the house and the lady she smiled and turned to live. After few minutes of walking in the forest, she suddenly stopped and the bird who was also sitting on her shoulder also alerted by sharping it's eyes.

The bird can see in the dark and after looking around and not finding anything, it felt weird. Sensing it's emotions, Edel also felt a sudden coldness around them. A movement she just felt was real and if nobody seen, that meant a huge problem. Ready to attack if any enemy would attack, Edel took out a small dagger, hidden in her pants.

A gust of wind blew from behind her and the hair on her neck stood up in fear. Clutching the dagger in her hand she looked around in the dark.

"Miss" a familiar voice leaped in pain made her looked ahead. Running at that direction she reached there, only to find a man on his knees brutally beaten and tied. Looking at the man who was standing beside the familiar tied man, her eyes burned with anger.

It was dawn and the sun was still not risen, so the face of the man was still hidden in the dark. But Edel can still recognize that it's the same old man who bought her before. Although it was dark but she could feel his eyes scanning her body head to toe.

" It seems you got better fast and I was not well informed." A deep and rough voice mixed with little anger came out of the old man's mouth.

A shadow ascended from the tree beside the old man, turning into a man, who knelt on one knee and a hand on its heart.

"Lord, I was told that, it would take four weeks." The man defended urgently, afraid of any punishment.

"Hmm, AND?" The old man asked still looking straight at Edel.

"AND? and. Oh and. And I have checked, no one is around other than him." he looked at the tied man.

Seeing the funny interaction at front, the bird laughed and received a glare from Edel.

The old man who also heard the bird, looked at it curiously and the bird found in his hand at the next moments. Not understanding what happened, the bird looked at the old man in fear. A dark world can be seen in his eyes made the bird chirped in danger.

"Where were you before?" he asked examine the bird carefully, grabbing in his fingers.

Saying that he again looked at Edel and smiled in understanding.

"It looks like, your father loved you dearly, as well as your mother." the old man said and freed the bird who in fear flew, reached at Edel's shoulder and breathed in relief.

The man who was kneeling beside the old man also disappeared in the dark after receiving a gesture, leaving him with the tied man alone.

The tied man who was ignored all the time, finally called out again in pain.

"Miss. Run. He is not a human or anything simple." Saying that he lost his consciousness and fell down.

"Why?" Edel, who was silent all along observing the scene, finally spoke.

"Why, hmm? why I bought you or why I left you at that house or why I'm here?" the old man asked. looking in a good mood.

Edel, not wanting to entertain him looked at him with a blank eye.

"You are the first and last, who can look me look me and questioned me like that. YOU....... KNOW." the old man still in a good mood speak to her, while walking towards her. "But, I will tell you why I'm here. Because of him." he pointed at the man lying flat at ground with his hand and feet tied.

"Who told him to sneak around you at this time." The man was the same man who was looking for Edel before at the window. And after giving her the news he disappeared from the window.

Edel clutched the dagger tightly in her hand, seeing that the old man was approaching her.

"I'm not your enemy." The man who was walking at front, now he is behind Edel grabbing her the hand with dagger and whispering into her ears.
