Gritting her teeth and bearing the pain of many cuts in her body, she kept running without stopping until she reached the middle of the forest. Not hearing any sound, she looked back in the dark.
Her silver eyes can see even in the darkest nights, too. Not seeing humans anywhere around, she let the girl in her arms sit under a cedar tree. Then she does some hand movements and makes a shield around the tree with her powers. By then, she also felt exhausted and weak, so she sat down beside the girl.
"Don't worry, Edel, no one can see you." Gently touching her face, she wiped the blood from the corner of her cheeks and let the girl fall asleep. "I'm sorry that I have to leave you here. But your grandfather would meet you soon." While saying she took out the necklace with a big blue diamond and put it on the girl's neck.
After kissing her daughter, she stood up and left without looking back. The little girl who was left behind, looking at the back of her mother with blurry eyes, wanted to stand up and run after her, but for some reason, her small body felt paralysed at that time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mother!"
"You are awake." A gentle voice sounded in the room.
The girl who was sold to the old man, turned and saw a middle-aged woman with a bowl in her hands was sitting there on a stool beside the bed she was sitting on.
'Drink this medicine." she gestured at the bowl and the girl quietly drank the medicine before passing the empty bowl back.
"How are you feeling now?" seeing the girl was still hesitating to speak and kept her down, she sighed,
" We found you outside of our home last night. Although you were not injured but you have lost some of your past memories." The lady continued.
" There was a note with you last night, saying that I should contact my father after treating you."
The girl finally lifted her head and looked at the lady in fearful gaze. The lady was melted under her gaze and her motherly instinct awaked. She patted the girl's head to let the girl feel comfortable and relax.
"Don't worry child, my father is not a beast or vampire. He is mer..... I mean he is a mere human." the girl relaxed a bit and again lowered her head.
"But? Do you know my father? seeing the girl shook her head, she hummed.
" You rest here first. I will see if your next dose is ready or not." the lady went out after closing the door behind.
The girl who was left behind revealed an expression that can only be seen on a mature person. Observing her surroundings she got out of the small bed and walked up to the only window present in the room.
What greeted her was, large and wide trunks of wild trees outside. A mysterious smile appeared on her face. After looking outside for few minutes, she took something out of her pants pockets and threw it outside. Touching her neck, she felt relieved and got back to bed, lie down to rest first.
Outside the room, sound of pots clinking could be heard with whispering,
"She is okay for now. But she has to take the medicine and rest to regain her memories." The lady speaks.
"How much time it will take?" Someone asked and by the voice, it was a man.
The lady who was still working on her medicine paused for a moment, " Four weeks for now, you can come again after that to check on her." She replied in a careless tone.
"Hmmm, I will come by then." the man turned to leave but stopped, " Remember, she is the most important person for the Lord. You better take good care of her." Delivering his warning he went out of the house before the lady could say anything. Hearing the sound of footsteps getting far, the girl in the room also closed her eyes to rest.
The lady heard all, but ignored his words and continue to stir the medicine. After a while the lady strain it in the bowl and walked towards the room in which the girl was sleeping.
Entering into the room she saw the girl's closed eyes and put the bowl on the table beside the bed. She walked up to the window and looked outside in deep thought. The next second her lips parted,
"I know you are not sleeping." the gaze of the lady turned sharp. Turning around she saw the girl was also looking at her, sitting on the bed.
"You don't have to be surprised, because I know your life is in danger. But the person who left you outside is far worse than the danger itself." Walking to the bed she sat down.
"Four weeks is the most time I could get it for you." Looking at the girl she sighed and gave the bowl of medicine to drink. The girl took the bowl and looked at the lady for a second before drinking the medicine and giving the bowl back. The bitterness reached her mouth and a frown can be seen on her face.
"You have powers right?" the girl's frown disappeared and she sharply looked at lady. "I can sense the power of self healing on you. Although I don't know why you can't use your powers for now? But you can recover your memory or not its all on you." The gentle voice of lady and her kind gaze made the girl's gaze relaxed and she turned to look at the window.
The lady thought that she doesn't want to talk, so she patted gently on her head and was about to stood up, when she heard,
"Aunt" the girl called out and the lady melted at her innocent voice. An unknown ping of emotion hit her heart.
"Edel... I am Edel." She then looked up at the lady with her light blue eyes. "And I don't want to regain my memory." saying that her eyes went blurry.
Lady hugged Idel and patted her to make her feel comfortable.
"It's okay Idel, you are safe here." The lady comforted the girl and put her in sleep before going out of the room.
As soon as she came out of the room she was startled. An old man was standing just outside the room, also looked at the lady with annoyance. Seeing the man she grabbed his hand and went outside of house. After walking a few meters form the house they stopped.
"Lis."
"Stop this Emma! You already know, she is not human. Neither us." the man spoke first without giving the lady any chance. "We can't take risk and she is not one of us."
The lady wanted to argue but stopped.
"I have already informed your father. He would be here soon."
"What? Who told you to do that?" Emma's voice raised and the old man took a step back.
"Emma, she is not our daughter. And you know that." The old man wanted to sooth her, " and about the Lord, if he is behind her, she must be dangerous than she looks."
Emma who was burning with anger, finally settled a bit and looked towards the house. Suddenly tears flowed out of her eyes, thinking of the past and she knelt down covering her face.
"We will find her Emma." the man walked up to her and patted her head.
After some time, they came back to the house. The man gave a glass of water to Emma and sat down beside her.
"What to do you think of the girl?" the man asked in a solemn voice.
"Her name is Edel." Emma's nasal voice tells that she just wept hard. "Her memory can't be restored. because a very powerful mage made her forget all the past memories. Only he or she can made her recover."
"Hmmm. So what should we tell to Lord." The man asked in worry.
" She has powers, so if we can unbound her bound powers, she could heal herself with those powers."
Emma's words made the man's eyes wide and he looked at the closed room in horror.
"Are sure about it Emma." He asked to confirm, if he heard something wrong. Seeing the nodding head of his wife, his heart beats increased.
"No doubt, that's why Lord is behind her."

Edel who was sleeping soundly opened her eyes in daze and looked outside the window once again. Seeing that it was dawn, she sat up and pulled out the necklace she was wearing. The same which the lady had given to her five year old daughter.
A faint light was coming out of the big blue diamond, that made girl unhappy, and she removed the light blue pearl bracelet, she was wearing on her left wrist. Throwing it in the air she whispered something, and the bracelet turned into a little white bird.
"Edel, Edel, Edel. you are so bad. you have starved me for three days." The bird kept crying in it's childish voice.
"Shh, keep you voice down." Edel warned her and the bird turned to the door.
"Not there. We are in the middle of the forest. You can eat wild fruits here, so go outside." The bird without any delay flew outside through window. It was just about to cross the window, when Edel called it out.
"Come back soon. we have to leave , he is coming to get us." she said in a hushed tone.
