Chapter 172 - Chapter 174: Compulsory Education

Not forgetting Obi-Wan and the others, Amir first dropped off 32 and Obi-Wan, then went to retrieve the Traveler from where it was parked outside the Tusken camp. He then returned to Mos Pelgo with the rest of the group.

It wasn't until they were close that Amir remembered to slow "Big Yellow" down. A Krayt Dragon suddenly appearing in town would be a massive shock to the residents.

Soon, Big Yellow came to a halt on the outskirts of Mos Pelgo.

Amir grabbed Milisen and jumped down.

"Still too late . . ." The town was deserted; everyone had been scared back indoors by the dragon.

Only one young man ran out from behind a building.

"Wolf?!"

"It's me, Hans." Wolf jumped down as well, introducing the man to Amir. "This is Hans, my partner in the farm venture."

"What is going on here?" Hans stared at the behemoth lying on the sand, unable to hide the shock in his heart.

"It's a long story, but the problem has been solved," Wolf said with a smile.

A look of excitement appeared on Hans's face. "Really? You really did it? I knew trusting you was the right choice!"

"Amir did it. Haha, call everyone out. Our town will be safe from now on."

At that moment, Amir and Milisen were using Bacta spray taken from the Traveler to treat Big Yellow's wounds. The battle just now hadn't been easy for it; a lot of tissue had been torn open, and some bones were slightly dislocated.

However, the Krayt Dragon possessed extremely powerful self-healing abilities. After stopping the bleeding and applying the medicine, Big Yellow no longer seemed to feel pain. Scabs were forming and flesh was regenerating at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Amir planned to take it back to the area near Obi-Wan's hut. There was a sizable cave near where he usually parked his ship, which would serve as a temporary den.

He couldn't let it go until he had completed its "compulsory education."

Right now, there was still a bomb in its stomach, so it dared not resist. But once he let it leave and the threat of death was gone, the mental connection they had just established would quickly sever.

At that point, it would slowly revert to its original nature.

Amir needed to give it some in-depth schooling.

. . .

Before long, the entire town had gathered around.

Knowing the Krayt Dragon wouldn't attack, they began to examine it with curiosity.

Amir noticed that many residents still held a shadowy anger in their eyes; some even looked like they wanted to unload a blaster clip into Big Yellow.

Amir saw it but ignored it.

Mistakes made in the past would be atoned for in the future. No matter how hard it was to accept, the resentment would fade with time. The only thing to take comfort in now was that the result was good.

Wolf explained the plan to the crowd, clarifying that neither the Krayt Dragon nor the nearby Tusken Raider tribes would pose a threat to them anymore. The residents finally let out smiles from the bottom of their hearts.

The pressure on them had been too great for too long. Surviving on this impoverished land was hard enough—facing not only Imperial oppression but also the threats of beasts and bandits.

Now, things were finally looking up. At the very least, they wouldn't have to live in fear when stepping out their doors.

The group warmly invited Amir to stay for a celebration, but he declined.

The incident here was resolved, and Wolf was finally settled, but Amir had a massive project waiting for him.

Big Yellow's classes needed to start immediately.

While it recovered over the next few days, Amir also needed to help it hunt for some meat to replenish its energy.

Taming such a creature was a rich challenge for Amir. Unlike gentle creatures, smoothing out the violent nature of this giant beast and making it affectionate was a very interesting endeavor.

Milisen had already volunteered to sign up as a teaching assistant.

After taking enough water from the town and bidding farewell to everyone, Amir drove the Krayt Dragon and began the long trek.

Mos Pelgo was a considerable distance from Mos Eisley.

They had the Traveler when they came, but the return trip offered no such luxury.

Relying on the nutrition paste they carried, the two traveled for more than a whole day before seeing familiar terrain.

Along the way, Amir appreciated many landscapes—deserts, peaks, oases. Everything contained the unique beauty of Tatooine. BD-4 didn't stop taking pictures the entire time.

Halfway there, Amir spotted a herd of Banthas, so he and Big Yellow went on a hunt. After Big Yellow was full, Amir and Milisen also experienced the feeling of a barbecue on the sands.

The Greater Krayt Dragon was fast; they arrived at their destination exactly at noon.

After finding a den in the canyon for it to heal, Amir walked back to the Traveler.

The journey had indeed been a bit long, and the dryness and heat along the way were torture.

After taking a shower, his body felt much more comfortable.

Collapsing onto the comfortable sofa of the Traveler, Amir and Milisen each grabbed a popsicle. Gnawing on the ice, Amir felt like he was alive again.

. . .

For the next few days, Amir shuttled between Big Yellow and the Traveler. During the day, he would occasionally go out to hunt some wild creatures. During this process, he constantly used the Force to "brainwash" the dragon, transmitting new knowledge and concepts to it.

Amir dared to say that Big Yellow could now be called the Confucius of the Krayt Dragon world.

If they had history books, they would definitely mark a heavy stroke of ink for it. Something like: The milestone of Krayt Dragons marching toward civilization, the greatest thinker, the pioneer of racial harmony, Aba-Aba.

Perhaps in a few years, Big Yellow would be writing characters itself.

Ancient life forms like this possessed a certain degree of wisdom; environmental factors simply denied them the opportunity to access learning. And even if they could, they wouldn't have a method as direct and efficient as Amir's Force instillation.

Now, Amir had undoubtedly opened a door for it.

Although it wouldn't reach the thinking level of a normal human, helping it curb its primitive instincts and establish basic modes of thinking was achievable.

For several weeks, Amir set aside a portion of time every day to communicate with Big Yellow. The connection between the human and the dragon grew tighter and tighter.

"Amir, are we going for a ride with Big Yellow today?" Milisen shook Amir awake early in the morning.

Since getting hooked on dragon riding, Milisen wasn't so repulsed by Tatooine's sand anymore.

"You've already learned how to communicate with it. You can take it hunting or for a stroll by yourself."

In less than a month, Big Yellow's temperament had stabilized. At the very least, it was very close to Milisen, Obi-Wan, and 32.

There was no need to worry about letting Milisen interact with it alone.

Amir had already taught Milisen the ability to communicate emotions with animals. Although it wasn't as direct as the method Amir had developed himself—which could stuff thoughts and images directly into the brain—simple interaction was possible.

Hearing this, Milisen ran to pick up a helmet and left the Traveler.

This helmet had a temperature regulation function; Amir had made it for her at Milisen's strong request.

Coupled with the cooling fan added to her smart tactical backpack, she hardly felt the heat when she went out now.

After getting out of bed, Amir tidied up and walked to the workshop.
