"This man is one of Frenis's henchmen," Veronica continued. Frenis is the leader of a massive underground organization in Coruscant. He makes a fortune through illegal activities, such as selling intelligence and hiring mercenaries. Rumor had it that he had powerful backers, which made him a figure to be feared in the area.
"According to Senir, this man will meet with another group at the Chaos Bar tomorrow to deliver an item. We don't know what it is, but many people are keeping an eye on it. Our job is to take advantage of the chaos and try to steal it." Veronica finished speaking and leaned against the railing, watching Amir.
"This isn't a small-time operation. Even Senir is getting involved, which means the item must be extremely valuable. This will be dangerous," Amir said to the three of them. In the past, he would have refused such a mission outright.
"Senir said we don't need to get involved in the fight. We just need to find an opportunity to act as a distraction. If the mission fails, he'll give each of us two hundred credit points as compensation," Jax interjected.
"The Chaos Bar is full of scum. Don't expect them to spare you just because you're young," Amir said. "Plus, these are Frenis's men. Once he has his sights on you, you're in serious trouble. In short, this is a high-risk, extremely dangerous mission with potentially disastrous consequences."
Hearing this, the others' expressions grew somber.
"So we have to get the stuff out without anyone noticing," Amir said, playing with the lightsaber at his waist.
"Haha! I knew you wouldn't refuse," Jax said, jumping up and slapping Lango, turning his green scales red.
"Now that we've decided, we need to plan carefully tonight to make sure everything goes smoothly."
Amir continued.
Veronica nodded and crossed her arms again, exposing her mechanical arms. She signaled to Amir with her eyes as if to remind him to modify her.
"Let's go to Uncle Mel's warehouse. I brought back a lot of good stuff from the imperial warehouse this time. I'll help you upgrade your combat power," Amir said with a smile.
First floor, commercial district.
Tall buildings pierced the sky like swords, sparkling with brilliant colors. Countless people looked up at this beautiful sight every day but never had the chance to enter.
On the top floor of one of these buildings, a blue humanoid creature dressed in luxurious clothing slowly sipped the wine in his hand.
"Senir, right? You did a good job this time. I'll entrust you with handling some minor matters at the port. Is there anything else?" Lensis Kopet asked the creature before him. Though the sight of its tentacle-covered face always made him feel queasy, he patiently received this lowly parasite. After all, such dirty work was not something the noble elite should get their hands dirty with.
"Lord Lensis, what should we do if we've angered Frenis this time? After all, I'm just a lowly servant. If he holds a grudge against me..." Senir hesitated, his expression betraying his fear.
"Remember, this was your decision. Frenis is just an ignorant fool who knows nothing. By tomorrow, he'll be gone." Lensis set down his wine glass and signaled to his bodyguards to escort the guest out.
Senir lost his courage to ask any further questions, so he walked out the door and got into the elevator.
The elevator began to move, and Senir smiled slightly and straightened his clothes. When he reached the first floor, he walked out of the spacious, bright building hunched over, heading toward the lower floors. He looked like a stray dog chased from its home.
The morning in Coruscant was hazy, as if everything were still immersed in last night's madness or had finally come to an end.
But for some people, the madness was just beginning.
The chaotic bar still retained the excitement of last night. Some people who had been drinking all night were lying on the seats, muttering in their sleep. Others were still pouring drinks into their stomachs.
Amir watched a large insect drinking alcohol like water in the corner and shook his head in disbelief. This creature had eight organs capable of breaking down alcohol. However, the green T'leek lying on the table across from Amir was not in such good condition—his antennae had turned red.
"Even at the Chaos Bar, there shouldn't be this many people in the morning. It's not like yesterday was a holiday," Amir said casually to Veronica, who was sitting in front of him.
The redheaded girl was too busy examining her exposed, mechanical arm to respond.
The Chaos Bar, the most vibrant bar in the area, was meticulously decorated. The floor was made of smooth alloy, the space was spacious, and the massive bar counter emitted a red and blue glow and held hundreds of different drinks. Elegant tables and chairs surrounded it, and a few exquisite chandeliers added to the bar's unique, alluring atmosphere.
Countless people were drinking wildly, and shady deals were being struck every moment. The bar could turn a nobody into a wealthy tycoon overnight or bring a once-prominent figure down to ruin. True to its name, the bar was chaotic yet undeniably alluring.
"Don't be nervous, Veronica. Just watch my performance," Amir said with a smug smile.
"Hmph. I'd rather go up there myself, beat these people to a pulp, and take out the target." Veronica looked at her new arm, seeming to gain more confidence.
"Don't rush it. Your time will come." Amir finished speaking and noticed a robot walking into the bar.
"BD? That model isn't common." Amir muttered to himself. The small, bipedal robot seemed to notice Amir's gaze and walked straight toward them.
"Hey, is it coming toward us, Veronica?" Amir asked, noticing BD's footsteps.
"Obviously," Veronica replied, also fixing her gaze on the robot. It was a silver-white robot with slender legs supporting a square head. Its front, light-sensitive lenses were spinning rapidly.
"BD, is that you?" As the robot approached Amir, a memory from long ago suddenly unlocked.
As if in response, BD raised its left leg and waved it a few times.
"Hahaha, it's an old friend. Please, sit down. Unfortunately, there's no motor oil here, or I'd definitely give you some." Amir looked at the silver-white BD in front of him and unconsciously recalled the stubborn figure from years ago who was constantly searching for something in the scrapyard. Amir had repaired its broken left leg, and in return, it had led him to a valuable engine, which was now used in "Coke."
The BD hopped onto the table effortlessly and emitted a series of beeps, as if greeting Amir.
"I'm doing well now. How about you? Did you find what you were looking for?"
"Beep, beep—beep."
"Haha, congratulations! Let's go back to the workshop for an oil bath and a carbon cleaning. Since we've achieved our goal, we should reward ourselves properly." Amir said happily. He had wanted this robot for a long time, but it had refused to go back with him. If he could bring it back to the workshop this time, he would definitely spoil it rotten.
"Zip—zip—beep—zip." BD's electrical sounds betrayed its excitement.
"How did you understand that? How can a robot talk?" Veronica looked at Amir as if he were crazy.
"Hey, you don't understand. That's called telepathy." Amir looked at Veronica challengingly.
"Beep!"
"BD agrees."
"Hmph!"
The alloy doors suddenly swung open and a cold breeze swept into the bar. A humanoid figure wrapped in a brown trench coat walked in, carrying an old-fashioned box. He moved slowly, as if the box were extremely heavy.
