Chapter 16 - The Tenth Floor[3]

Xior grabbed his attackers claws and threw him on top of the others. The one fighting Becca fell down as she cut his achilles tendon.

The dragon tribe member squirmed in pain as Kayla locked her blade with another's claws. Her wrist glowed and an ice shard shot out from her chest.

The dragon tribe member dodged but it grazed his right eyes, which gave her enough time to twist her body as she loosened the grip on her blade.

She grabbed him and suplexed him on the ground. Xior made quick work of the other two, one clawed him only for Xior's wounds to heal instantly, his runes glowed and he shot a fire arrow towards one and jumped towards the other.

He kicked his claw and grabbed his head smashing him onto the ground. It was over, they had quickly taken care of them.

"We were told they were strong?" Becca said.

"They are, these were their weakest soldiers who aren't even skilled in wars." Kayla said as she tied them together.

"Wait! I feel like this is a trap. Think of it, why would they send them?" Xior insisted.

But it was too late, something huge in the sky stopped the sunlight. They looked up to see a lesser full dragon flapping its wing to keep itself floating.

It roared and the area shook, smoke came out of its mouth as runes around it neck glowed and he breathed fire onto the group.

Xior dug his fingers deep into the ground and pulled hard, the area broke and went flying, hitting the dragons mouth making it stagger. Xior jumped towards him, Becca and Kayla behind him.

Becca used her skill and an arc of pure mana jumped out of her sword as she swung it while frost covered Kayla's blade as she drove it in its eye.

Xior impaled its other eye with his hand and as both of his eyes were not functioning it fell on the ground. Xior, Becca and Kayla got off it and saw the dragon revert back to a humanoid form, brown scales covered his arms.

Dark brown horns protruded from his head and his eyes were bleeding. He tried getting up but a punch from Xior knocked him out.

The dragon tribe hostages woke up with gasps, they were in chains with rune repressors around their wrists. Xior and Becca had brought those from Dragon Guilds office.

Rain now stood in front of them alongside Xior and Tharnak. The blind dragon was slouched down on the ground, his breath came in low pained gasps.

Rain sat on the chair in front of him and crossed his legs.

"Now, I will ask you some questions very nicely." He said as he grabbed his head.

The dragon tribe member flinched and tried to move his head but it was futile. The chains binding him didn't allow him to move much.

"Why is your Chief hostile with the other tribes?" He asked.

"I-I d..don't know" He mumbled

"You're clearly of a higher rank than these soldiers, I can tell when you lie. So tell me while I'm asking nicely."

"O-our Chief...wants to r-rule ov-over all of the t-t-tribes." He answered.

"Interesting, anything else you're not including?" Rain asked.

"H-he meets with someone every week. I don't know who he is but he is certainly stronger than our Chief."

Xior stepped forward and crouched, he looked at the blind dragon tribe member and took out a healing potion and making him drink.

Light returned to his eyes as he opened them, his eyes were healed. He looked at Xior who held the bottle and bowed down.

"Oh great Dragon, I thank you for helping this poor humanoid dragon kin of yours."

"Why are you calling me a dragon?" Xior asked

"Your scent, it's of a powerful and strong dragon. Please have mercy on me."

Just as he was to ask more questions Rain raised his hand, indicating for him to stop. Rain got up and walked out with Tharnak.

Xior was left inside, alone. He thought how was this possible? Then he remembered the murals he saw during the trial.

'Could the murals be connected to all this?' He thought.

Becca went back with Rain while Xior stayed with the Wolf Tribe. For helping them he was deemed a member of the pack along with Becca.

He wore fur lined tunic and trousers just like them. His white hair, black at the ends fell on his shoulders as he walked carrying logs in his hands. The snow had started to increase, and so did the cold.

He was walking through snow which came up to his knees. As he was not a native he didn't know the land and so he slipped. The log hit his head and the ground beneath him broke.

He fell into a deep cave system inside the mountain. The surroundings felt like an ancient ruin. He conjured a fireball in his left hand waited for his broken bones to come back to their place. He looked up and saw he had fell quite a lot of distance.

There seemed to be a staircase leading deeper into the base of the mountain. Xior wanted to go back but there was a faint sense of familiarity coming from the deep void below.

He started walking down, the walls once again had murals like the ones he saw during the trial. However, these were different, the same dragon stood in front of lesser dragons. Then the scene shifted towards the lesser dragons fighting among themselves.

The mountain was shown as well as the cave system inside it but nothing more. Xior kept thinking, trying to connect things to each other but in between those murals and these, there was a lot of information missing.

He almost reached the end when a chilling wind made its way up his body, he got goose bumped by the intensity of wind. Something was down there which would clear some of his issues.

He let go of the fireball and let the darkness consume everything once again. As he reached the end he walked forward and saw three doors in front of him.
