Chapter 28 - The Albertan Handbook

It was a bit weird navigating the golem, the two slots that I saw through gave poor visibility. Also, my strength while using [Geomancy] to swing my club was pitiful.

All that was a moot point, because I had a frickin golem mech! It would allow me to be completely safe from being infected and I could fight on the front lines. When I needed to move fast, I had to make sure I kept the Golem together as well, so I couldn't move very fast.

Though I could use the whole Golem's bulk as a weapon. Throwing a few kicks and miming a fight I was ready to go. Jumping onto the wall, I felt some of it give way, but it held as I overlooked the battlefield. The rats had a legion, the rank and file had been slamming into my [Force Field] the whole time I was crafting my golem. Intermittently, there were plague bearers, and by the look of it, two plague spewers. Hovering above the rat legion where the [Plague Elementals] are ready for the battle.

I looked back at the spiders each of them looked ready to go. Anastasia was hovering on a ball of venom she had collected from her siblings, giving her the thumbs up, we were ready. Playing around with my [Force Field], I had figured out how to give certain creatures permission to exit and enter the [Force Field], which was great.

Jumping up I slammed downwards on the pile of rats. I began to swing my club in reckless abandon the sheer weight of the force behind my club sent them flying. Right into the spikes I had created on the walls. The spiders dropped from the ceiling onto the rats before dragging them up.

A plague bearer latched onto my back and began to tear at my golem's back. Luckily, I could move my golem's arms wherever I wanted, and so I began to batter the infected rat before throwing it high in the air, where a group of spiders tangled it up.

At the same time, Anastasia was kiting the [Plague Elementals] which we found out were only really harmed by magic. The only two skills we had that harmed it were [Geomancy] and her [Toxikinesis]. She would periodically splash them with the venom ball she was flying around on causing them to scream. Don't ask me why flying plague skeletons were harmed by flying rocks and venom.

I clocked another plague bearer in the head sending it sprawling onto its smaller brethren. I swung downwards ending it, something I had learned was that I could run constantly make repairs whenever my Golem's body cracked or chipped simply by drawing rock from the ground into the damaged areas.

It was steady going, and the golem suit had the added Benefit of not being massively taxing on my Mana pool. As the rats tried to swarm me the spiders helped drag a few away. It was going to be costly mana-wise to do this but it was worth it. Levitating my suit a few feet I crashed downwards on the pile of rats that had tried to crush me.

They screamed as I ended their plague-filled lives. I felt a colossal force tackle into me slamming me into my wall. The rock sagged against the Force as one of the two Plague Spewers tackled me. Fashioning a spear from the chest of my golem I speared it cleanly through the chest before hurling it into the canal wall.

Reforming the chest back to normal I had to duck out of the way as the other one tried to two-piece combo me. Upper cutting the one who tried to blindside me its plague-ridden flesh gave way to the fist of the golem.

*BOOM*

I felt a concussive force slam into me from behind. One of the [Plague Elementals] broke away from the group chasing Anastasia. Its Skeletal hand stretched out, and a beam of energy slammed into the plague spewer I had upper cutted. Cancerous flesh spread outwards from the wound entrapping my fist as the other one began to claw at me.

'Anastasia! What's going on? I thought I killed one!' I yelled as I desperately fought off both plague spewers.

'It's the [Plague Elementals]! They can heal the infected!' She responded as she swooped in and slashed the elemental that had been healing the spewers.

I manipulated the hand stuck in the spewer and sent a blast of shrapnel into its head hopefully killing it. Retracting my golem's hand, which was basically a stump, I reformed the hand before slamming it into the other one. Grabbing it by its neck I threw it deep into the rat swarm.

Turning around, I decked the other spewer, which had been slightly healed by a passing elemental.

I resumed my rampage, stomping the rats, and as the remaining plague spewer that really looked like a giant tumor now tried to attack me again, I picked it up and ripped it in two, sending both flying.

With my Mana reserves running low, I called a retreat back to the [Force Field], empowering it with most of my remaining mana, strengthening it.

As I waited for Anastasia to use her venom as a power washer and an overkill disinfectant washing away the blood and guts of the rats before I could step outside of the Golem. Seeing it was in pretty good condition, I reshaped some of its features that I had done hastily on the battlefield. I was sitting chilling in the wizard's tower when I received a prayer.

'Hey this is Mr. Smith, Kien I need your help Some crazy people dressed up in weird garb started chasing me calling me a heathen in such after I refused to convert to the weird cult thing they were a part of' I looked down at the vision of Mr. Smith huddled in a stone building of sorts around him was a group of random people and fantasy races I think I even saw a minotaur.

'All I need is some way to hold them off, apparently, there is a passage here that will open at first light and will lead to the next stage of the Tutorial for me, but it's midnight where I'm at and the Fanatics are all heavily out-level us.

Looking around most were level 5 with a few higher and a few lower.

'Alright, Mr. Smith, I can raise a barrier to protect you, but if they start to attack, the only way to repair it is by worship, okay?' I sent the message to his head.

'Uh, yeah huh this really works or I'm going crazy' He responded.

'You're not going crazy, I need you to go and stand at the entrance to this chamber and raise your hand in front of it,' I instructed him.

'Ah, okay,' he said before he stood up and walked over to the doorway. A few of the others in the room looked worriedly before I paid the 50 Divinity it cost (Ouch) to erect a permanent barrier.

The Minotaur guy looked at Mr. Smith confused.

"I thought you were a [Low human] construction worker? How did you summon such a powerful Force Field?" The Minotaur asked skeptically.

"Ah, one of the people in my group back at the system integration got a racial evolution to Daemon or was it Daimon?" Mr. Smith responded.

"Hmm, you're from a new world, and one of your members ascended to a Divine?" The Minotaur pieced together stroking his goatee.

"Pretty much he says that this shield will hold, but if it starts to crack it'll require worship" Mr. Smith explained.

"Hmm, well, tell your Divine that he has my thanks, but I'll hold off on the worship until I make it out of this," the Minotaur said, sitting down.

...

Snapping back to my body, I sagged man I had spent a while buttload of Divinity alas it was worth it if Mr. Smith made it.

Focusing on my current situation, I saw another force approaching, besides the tides of rats. I saw [Plague Elementals], a regiment of Plague Bearers, and a group of ten spewers.

While I hadn't grown much personally in power, my allies, minus Anastasia, had reached level 14. They had it much, much easier when it came to gaining XP. Hopefully, I could reach level 15 after killing the [Festering Patriarch].

Jumping down from my tower to enter my golem, which in preparation for my newest batch of infected rats, I decided to bless, and yes, it did hurt to spend an extra 10 Divinity on top of the other hundred I spent today.

Luckily, the Staff and the Golem's mana reduction stacked, making it even better for drawn-out fights. Entering the Golem I closed the hatch and prepared for combat. The spiders looked strong and ready for the battle ahead.

Jumping straight over the wall I entered the fray. My enhanced golem bashed through the front lines of the enemies sending rats flying. Above me, Anastasia attacked and harassed the [Plague Elementals] stopping them from interfering and healing the rats.

Barreling towards the regiment of Plague Bearers, I jumped, landing in the center of their loose formation. They began clawing at my golem, trying to rip it, as long as I had mana, though it was a pointless endeavor, as I continued to fix damage as soon as it appeared.

Slamming one of them into the ground, I bashed another away with my other hand using [Flow of Combat] to keep track of the bearers' locations. A [Plague Elemental] joined the fray, filling the rats' injuries with disease-filled, cancerous flesh.

Reaching up, I grabbed the Skeletal leg of the elemental. I had realized that my Golem, when filled with my magic, could grab up the elementals. Pulling it close, it struggled as its compatriots tried to stop me. I grabbed each half of the forsaken creature and pulled. It died and its body faded into vapors. Returning my attention to the rentinue I mopped up the floor with them.

The group of spewers locked eyes with me and began charging towards me running over their allies. Picking up a dead bearer by the rats tail I threw it into the charging line of infected giant rats sending them toppling over. The ones behind trampled them in order to get to me.

I cocked back my [Daemonic Club] and glocked one In the head. As I tried to back away I almost tripped on the corpse of a bearer forcing me to spend a ridiculous amount of mana to raise the golem. Landing down I was dog piled by the spewers bile splashing uselessly against my golem as I closed the eye slits and redirected the breathing holes.

I had to rely on [Flow of Combat] to sense where they were. Sending spikes of hardened earth I began pulling them off me. I noticed a large Presence enter the battle, it floated above and the spewers began to attack with new found strength. Bashing one aside I tried to swipe at the figure, but it evaded my attacks. Turning back I slammed the closest Spewer and grabbed onto its bloated skin and threw it haphazardly towards what I assumed to be a giant [Plauge Elemental].

'Hey, Anastasia what's floating above me?' I asked as I kept on having to reform my golem as the spewers tore it away.

'its called [Elder Plague Elemental] and it's one big mofo'
