Chapter 20 - Love Triangles and Life Lessons

As we continued to walk, I asked him a question that could change his whole perspective about Zia.

"You know those show b*tch girls??"

He paused, looking at me confused...

"What do you mean by show b*tch girls?"

I paused as well.

"They are kinda like play girls but pick-me type, you know?"

Getting back to walking,

"You mean the bad type."

I lightly laughed.

"Hmm... haha... so you don't know them."

He felt annoyed.

For a prodigy kid who turns out to be this way—not to mention he doesn't know about girls and all but is still obsessed with one—makes him feel annoyed rather than ashamed.

"Quit running the ambush, just tell me the crap about them."

"It's just they are not really suited for men. Not all of them, but some aren't. Like she might approach you very carefully, learning your weak side and good side, so..."

He looked super hyped about it. Unintentionally, he continued to copy my body language.

"And so... Tell me."

I raised my fingers, turning around while smirking.

"Once they get you on edge, they will play cute and hot with you... Before you know it, you already fell in love with them which makes you feel like they fell in love as well."

He put his hand on his chin thinking.

"Wait... what."

I put my hands in my pocket, telling him about the world he never knew existed.

"It's basically like they will become your fiancée and drain you as hell, bro, but still not all of them are like that, okay."

He nodded, looking suspicious of something.

"Okay—okay."

"So yeah, after they drain you and you are not any use to them, some of them will leave you alone, breaking your heart by showing they never even cared, and others will leave you after doing the one and only thing they never miss..."

"They will fake everything by making it look like they were the victim, as if they never even wanted it but you blackmailed them."

"Broo, aren't we taking this far? Why would they do that?"

I smirked after looking at him.

"It's because they will be able to blackmail you back, and even if you left them, they will be able to play on you. As long as you never come with real evidence that surpasses their blackmail, you're dead."

He looked down, getting shocked.

"So they will use you even after leaving you? What a shame..."

"The moral of the story... Zia wasn't bad as she seems, okay... Don't get it into you..."

He gazed down, unconsciously walking slower.

"She is a pretty good girl and a decent one too."

He raised his hand, scrubbing his neck from behind.

"I was the problem, bro. I didn't even know that Ezabel liked me, but yeah whatever... I'm planning to move on."

I punched his head, forcing him to bow.

"Eventually, you will get to notice who you actually rejected."

Today was a really hard day. I did all I could to help end this triangle mess.

Slowly walking to the door of Ed's house... No!! My house.

I got in, looking at the scene before me. Riya was walking downstairs. She saw me closing the door.

Riya

"Ohhh... Jane is here... Why are you later than usual? So how was your test? What are your future career expectations?"

I was so exhausted that I felt my back wasn't mine anymore. I walked to her while she was standing on the stairs. She stood waiting for me. After I reached the mid part of the stairs near where she was.

"First of all... I'm exhausted... Second, I'm exhaauussstttdd..."

She looked at me very suspiciously and raised her left eyebrow.

"Does your back hurt?"

I thought it might be easier to end the chat here and talk to her tomorrow, so...

"Yeahhh..."

She looked at me with her sarcastic smile.

"What did you do? Not like you did much exercise... Does that mean you have ohhh... girlfriend?"

I slapped my face.

"Please... I'm exhausted... Okay Riya, we will talk tomorrow morning before I go to test... And don't tell Ed, he will wake me up to make sure about it."

She looked at me so happily.

"You know what? I won't tell my husband... If you call me mom."

That word "mom" that I never used for anyone made me speechless. She is pregnant. I'm guessing she got excited... TO BE A MOM.

"Okay MOM!! Goodnight."

She and her confidential smile are the last thing I want now—is it? She even smirked about it...

I opened my door... tomorrow I must pass. I'm excited for Monday. Tomorrow is actually Friday. I will officially make friends in class. The prep class ended and the exam is gonna end tomorrow, that's it.

I slept on my bed. Jumping right on the bed while rolling and packing myself.

It feels so nice to live like this after all the suffering I had... I wonder how the church is doing... Father Athos and those twin sisters Nesta and Neve...

Anyway, I better sleep or else I will get tired again when I wake up.

---

Morning

The dazzling sun with its radiant morning light streamed in my room... as I forgot to close the window last night.

I sometimes hate it. Why does the sun need to rise in the east? Why...

Anyway, I couldn't sleep after the shining sun woke me up. I looked at myself in the mirror and did my usual routine.

Looking good and rich. I walked down the stairs. Ed was awaiting, even with Riya not telling him anything, he could see through me.

He crossed his legs in a chair, drinking tea, reading a newspaper. He saw me coming and took off his glasses and put them down on the table.

I'm actually starting to realize I should call him dad by now. I casually said,

"Morning Ed."

He stopped reading.

"Jane came over here..." I sat down, bringing a chair.

He looked at me seriously.

"Is something going on? Last night you came so late and you slept without even eating."

I didn't want to lie about it. So I told him,

"Listen Ed, there are these upperclassmen who kinda had a love triangle and I solved everything. I mean, they were kinda having problems, so yeah..."

Ed looked at me with a neutral reaction.

"Who are they? Tell me everything."

So I told him about Zia, Emily, Luna, and Ezabel... And finally Oliver.

He was shocked that he fell off his seat and he stood up again and said,

"Those girls are treated like princesses in blankets... Promise me that you won't be a problem and won't cause it as well. Having connections with them is deadly just as it is good."

I laughed at him.

"Hahahaha... Nah, they are girls after all. Each of them except this Luna, who I don't know and never talked to, are good with me. It's okay Ed, don't worry."

Riya came to bother us about it—that's how family is.

My two days in prep class and yesterday's exam made a lot of mess in my life that today I decided to pass time reading a book in a library.

---

I finally ate breakfast, and when I got out with Ed with a carriage, he said to me,

"YOU HAVE CHANGED SO MUCH, JACE! IT'S LIKE YOU STOPPED FIGHTING THE WORLD, AND THAT MAKES ME GLAD."
