Ficool

Chapter 30 - Standoff

Aaron had similar thoughts to that of Felix. All this while he had been toying with Felix and taunting him to buy as much time as possible until Felix could no longer keep active whatever skill he had that boosted his attributes.

It wasn't that he couldn't take Felix on one-on-one, but not only did Felix have the advantage in attributes, he also proved to be capable of a prolonged fight with the upper hand when it came to stamina due to his superior Constitution attributes.

Aaron didn't want to burn himself out too much before he faced Lady Morwen. But on seeing the unfavorable state of Athenae, who he'd thought wouldn't find it too much of a trouble to take on Lich Knights with her unparalleled strength, Aaron knew he still had a chance at getting Lady Morwen if he got serious and ended the fight swiftly.

You know what they say, "Two heads are better than one."

After discovering the true nature of Felix's class system, Aaron never really intended to let anyone know about it because not only did he find Felix interesting, he also wanted to keep his second class system as a trump card. Only if Felix hadn't gotten in his way. Now, he was going to kill both him and Lady Morwen and inevitably reveal he had two class systems. That should be more than enough to be acknowledged by not just his father, but the world. He was going to be recognized as the Savior of mankind.

He stood in an opposite building to the palace, watching Felix with a mean expression, and was just about to make his next move. This time he wasn't planning on using just magic bullets and his sword beams—those were but his Level 1 skills. He was about to unleash the hell of his Level 2 skills on Felix.

But before Aaron could make his move, he spotted Chelsey and the other S-Ranks—except Lucy—approaching Felix.

He frowned, unsure of their motives and if they wanted to team up with Felix to stop him. Not that he wasn't confident he could take them all, but it would be a hassle and time-consuming.

"Felix?! I think it's time to stop." Chelsey declared from above, surprising Aaron.

Felix was momentarily stunned by Chelsey's words. Seeing as Michael, Ballista, and MJ cornered him, he couldn't help but frown and looked up at Chelsey, who was levitating in the air with the help of her flames. "And what's that supposed to mean?"

"You have to understand that things have spiraled out of plan and none of us ever thought things would wind up this way. We are now against an enemy twice as strong as any of us, and this is not the time to be fighting amongst ourselves. We need both you and Aaron with Athenae making sure Lady Morwen doesn't fuck all of us up when the moon rises, while we take care of things out here. Everyone has a part to play. So this could go two ways…" Chelsey paused looking down at Felix like she was the superior one. "You'll either set aside your differences with Aaron and assist him in taking down Lady Morwen… or you'll leave us no choice but to step in, and trust me, none of us would like that." Chelsey declared.

"…"

The courtyard instantly fell silent except for the sounds of battle with Athenae and the Lich Knights. If one looked closely now, Athenae wasn't having a hard time cutting them down and pushing her way through to the boss room. It looked like she had gotten some kind of strength buff. But only she knew it wasn't that she had gotten stronger, but that the Lich Knights had gotten weaker. And it was all thanks to whatever Felix had done.

Athenae scoffed at the thought of Felix's mystique, then a small smile appeared on her face. Unaware of what was happening outside now.

Aaron was grinning from ear to ear as he watched everything unfold with the S-Ranks and Felix. He was very much interested to see Felix's reaction before he made his entrance. But unlike what he—or anyone—thought Felix's reaction would be, Felix began laughing with an amused look on his face as he watched Chelsey and laughed even harder.

Felix couldn't help it. What was this? Did Chelsey think they were shooting a TV drama or something? What gave her the nerve to think she was now the shot caller for convincing the other candidates to play along with her?

Felix admired her courage. But sadly, she was in no place to make such a decision, nor did she have the strength to back it up. To Felix, Chelsey reminded him of that one sassy baby cousin whenever she came to make demands from him like she was the older one.

"Hahaha~ I—I'm sorry, but who the fuck do you think you are?" Felix's expression suddenly grew serious. He was indeed amused at the way she had declared her statements, but he was also angered at being looked down on.

"W—What?" Chelsey's heart skipped a beat at Felix's sudden change in demeanor. But then she grew annoyed at being scared of him when he was clearly outnumbered with Aaron on their side.

"It seems you think you can take us all on," Chelsey said as strands of flames snaking around her body began moving violently like she was about to cast a powerful skill. "I'll advise you to swallow your pride and do the right thing." Her voice was laced with threat as she emphasized on the "right thing".

"The first one of you to make a move against me, I'll make sure you don't live to see beyond the walls of this city." Felix calmly said as he swept his gaze through the S-Ranks, holding eye contact with each to show them he was being dead serious.

The candidates were visibly shaken. It was like Felix had forbidden anyone within the courtyard to not move, as the S-Ranks stood still like statues, careful not to even breathe too loud so Felix didn't misunderstand it for a move against him. This included Chelsey who could only grit her teeth and glare at the S-Ranks she had brought with her for backup. Everyone was too scared to go against Felix now as one word from one scene replayed in their heads over and over again.

"Die."

This was the word Felix had said to the mob boss at the Sahuagin Dungeon, Sekolah The Maw Crusher, to end his life and clear the dungeon effortlessly. And no one wanted to be the next victim for this broken skill.
