Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Lawless Island, Sphinx

The Grand Line, Marine Headquarters, Marineford.

The red-haired female Admiral kicked open the Fleet Admiral's office door, slammed her palm on the desk, and asked aggressively, "Old man Yama, why are you holding me back? I just fought that bastard Silas. No one knows his methods better than I do!"

"Ahem, Rona, please calm down first."

Current Fleet Admiral Elephant Yama coughed lightly, signaling the female Admiral to settle down.

"I have already sent Sebastes and Kong. Besides, this is an order from above. You just fought White Wolf Silas, and your injuries have not fully healed..."

"Those minor injuries healed long ago!"

"Yes, yes, yes."

Elephant Yama looked at the furious Rona, who might draw her sword at any moment, with extreme frustration. He could not very well say that the higher-ups believed Rona had fallen into disadvantage in her battle with White Wolf Silas, so they doubted her abilities and decided to send more senior Admirals instead.

Elephant Yama said in a conciliatory tone, "Rona, you know the higher-ups are very angry about the Marines losing the Heavenly Tribute this time. They have ordered the Marines to recover it within one month."

You had to understand, the Heavenly Tribute was tax money dedicated to the Celestial Dragons, specially escorted by Marines. For nearly a hundred years, no pirate had dared to pull their whiskers.

For a pirate to actually dare rob the Heavenly Tribute was undoubtedly a provocation against them.

So the Five Elders, the World Government's highest authority, were greatly displeased and demanded that the Marines recover the Heavenly Tribute and capture the provocateur within one month.

Otherwise, they would use next year's Marine military budget to compensate the Celestial Dragons' losses.

Fleet Admiral Elephant Yama was extremely helpless about this situation.

Because it was simply impossible!

Who knew where White Wolf Silas would run after robbing the goods?

If White Wolf Silas had also stolen the transport ship, they might have been able to track him down by following the ship's trail.

But now, White Wolf Silas had not taken the transport ship, only the cargo inside.

So trying to find White Wolf Silas and the White Wolf Pirates in these vast seas was like finding a needle in a haystack.

Moreover, the Marines could not have all their Admirals running around looking for the White Wolf Pirates. You had to know, although no overlord-level pirates had appeared on these seas, great pirates who dominated various regions were as numerous as cattle.

"Rona, the Giant Shark Pirates have been active near Dressrosa recently. If you can quickly deal with them, I will let you participate in this operation against the White Wolf Pirates. How does that sound?"

"Is it a deal?"

"It's a deal!"

Watching the red-haired woman flip her hair and leave the office without looking back, Elephant Yama scratched his few remaining hairs and sighed.

"A man in his seventies still coming out to cause me trouble. Silas, you bastard, could you not just retire quietly?"

To silently reach their territory and even rob the Celestial Dragons' Heavenly Tribute, looking at the report submitted by Vice Admiral Robbie from GL Branch 9, Elephant Yama rubbed his temples.

"That boy Kong has really gotten stuck with a tough job this time."

Meanwhile, in the New World, seven dark green warships were sailing on the sea surface. Each warship exceeded seventy meters in length, and each was packed with Marine soldiers.

If there were a few more warships, they could almost assemble a World Government "Buster Call."

Actually, a Buster Call consisted of ten warships plus five Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals, and these seven warships carried three Marine Vice Admirals, one Admiral candidate, and one Marine Admiral.

"Really cannot stay quiet at all."

A thin, wretched-looking old man lay on a beach chair on the warship, enjoying passionate massages from two beautiful female slaves beside him while saying with displeasure, "He never won even once before, but this time he caught little Rona off guard, drove her back, and now he is getting cocky."

"Can he not just let me retire in peace?"

A middle-aged man with hedgehog-like hair said seriously, "Admiral Crimson Horse, White Wolf Silas is after all a legend who has sailed these seas for decades. We should be more cautious."

"Hmph, he is just an old geezer like me, that is all."

As he spoke, the old man lewdly groped the buttocks of a female slave beside him.

"Besides, he is not as handsome as me! Do you not think so, Kong?"

Looking at the old man's wretched donkey face and then thinking of Silas's appearance from a few years ago, Kong really could not bring himself to agree with the old man's assessment.

"Anyway, I will leave commanding the warships to you, Kong."

The old man laughed as he embraced the two female slaves with collars around their necks and headed toward the cabin. Kong and the surrounding Marines, as if already accustomed to this, turned a blind eye.

Kong looked at the vast sea, murmuring to himself, "Where are you now? White Wolf Silas."

At Sphinx, an island nation located in the middle section of the New World, not just an island but a country with a population of several hundred thousand, the remote geographical location and barren land meant this country could not pay sufficient Heavenly Tribute annually like World Government member nations.

So Sphinx could only become a non-affiliated nation, receiving no Marine protection.

More than a decade ago, Silas had set foot on this island during one of his earlier voyages. Back then, the local kingdom was desperately fighting off wave after wave of pirate attacks.

Leveraging his fearsome reputation, Silas cleared out the troublesome raiders before transforming the island into a neutral meeting ground for pirates.

Over time, it evolved into a thriving black market where crews traded their plundered treasures.

That was over ten years ago now.

The residents of this island still lived in hardship, but compared to being unilaterally plundered by pirates, their situation had improved countless times.

However, Silas was not satisfied.

Because ten years ago he was still too weak. His great pirate reputation could intimidate ordinary pirates but could not intimidate those proud individuals who, like him, held the title of great pirate.

After his long absence from this island, the island's power had been divided into several parts, occupied by several great pirates respectively.

Now, there were no longer any of his flags on this island.

But to say that Silas had taken over this island ten years ago to help its residents was not actually true.

He had actually come looking for someone.

A man named Edward Newgate.

However, he had not found him ten years ago.

Because according to normal timeline development, Edward Newgate might have just been born at that time, still just a child.

Even now, Silas did not hold much hope.

He only remembered that Charlotte Linlin would be abandoned by her parents to the Giant Kingdom of Elbaf in the past two years, but did not know when Edward Newgate would set sail.

That man who would be called the world's strongest in the future...

Whitebeard Edward Newgate!
