"Mercs?" Akane said, rising, her usual playfulness gone.
"Or worse. Raiders." Akari's voice was low, tight. She was already moving toward the back exit, axe slung over her shoulder like a war banner. "We've got seconds before they hit the door."
Minami flinched, shrinking against Kenji's side. "Wh-what do they want?"
Kenji didn't answer. He already knew. Out here, survivors weren't just prey to zombies—they were currency.

"We're not giving them anything," Kenji said coldly. "Not a damn thing."

Tetsuo tackled a second raider from behind the door, bashing him with the flashlight. Akari came in like a goddess of war, axe arcing through the air with a howl and slicing into a third man's collarbone. Akane moved like smoke, darting behind a raider and jamming a knife straight into his kidney.
But it was Rei who stunned them all.
She stepped out from cover, raised the dead man's SMG, and opened fire with surgical control—short bursts, aimed, perfect.
In five seconds, it was over.
The smell of blood was back. But this time, it wasn't zombies.
It was worse.
