As soon as Amari felt the heavy, suffocating presence of Sebastian's fury just outside her door, the string of curses that had been at the tip of her tongue disappeared instantly. Her voice failed her. Instead, she slowly and silently began to shut the door again, hoping that perhaps he'd take the hint and leave.
But he didn't.
The loud banging that followed rattled the door violently, making her flinch. The sound was deafening, echoing through the hallway of her quiet apartment building. She feared her neighbors would hear the commotion, peek through their peepholes, and start whispering. As much as she didn't want to face Sebastian—not now, not ever—she had no choice.
Reluctantly, she opened the door again.
Sebastian barged in without so much as a word of greeting. His face was dark, the anger in his expression radiating like a storm ready to burst.
