Amari was quiet at the other end of the line. She didn't immediately respond to Alexander's question. Her smile faded, and Lea, noticing the sudden change in her expression, glanced at her with concern and gestured, asking what was wrong. Amari simply looked at her, then turned her attention back to the phone.
"I'll see you again, Mr. Haskel. Goodbye," she said softly, not waiting for Alexander's reply before ending the call. "He's tough," she muttered under her breath.
Lea sighed in frustration. To her, it was a mistake for Amari and Alexander to grow close during such a critical case. Personal entanglements only complicate matters, especially when the stakes are high. Amari needed to be careful.
