Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

Rico glanced at the metallic man before sighing and returning to his meal. "Blackgate is no longer secure. So prisoners were sent to Arkham, here, and Iron Heights. That is all it is really." Rico told him as he frowned at the bland taste of the eggs.

"Well then, I have a new question for you." Metallo moved from sitting on the table to sitting on a chair. "How are you at cards?" Metallo asked, prompting several others to come over and join them at the table and a stack of Uno cards being tossed in the middle of the table.

—--------------------

"Prisoner BG-Z-9341. You have a visitor, report to the blue door." His collar interrupted their latest hand. Rico clicked his tongue in annoyance and put down his cards. He had a stacked hand as well. Rico then discretely handed the smokes to Metallo.

Rico pulled himself out of the chair and walked to the blue door. As soon as he got close the light above it blinked and then the door opened up. Rico walked through and blinked in surprise; he was expecting a lawyer or maybe one of his mercenaries.

Instead he found a man and a woman standing on the other side of a reinforced glass screen. Behind him the door closed. So Rico moved forward and sat in the chair across from them.

The woman had a good set of black hair with a notepad and pencil out along with a recording device. She looked quite beautiful and was definitely the type of woman that Rico would actively pursue. But her eyes gleamed with excitement.

While the man was more restrained despite his bulkier size. He was wearing a simple and bland gray suit. But he was wearing a festive tie and did not fit in at all. He just had a pencil and notepad out. Then there were his glasses that did not fit with his physically fit body.

Rico noticed that they were wearing matching wedding bands. So that makes them a married couple. Rico already had a feeling he knew who they were but just in case… "To whom do I owe a meeting with visitors I have definitely never met before?" Rico asked as he looked between them.

"My name is Lois Lane, I am a reporter with the Daily Planet. This is Clark Kent, he is also with the Daily Planet. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions. It is mostly about your transfer here and your experience in the now designated lawless zone known as the Gotham Underground?" Lois Lane asked as she leaned forward.

"Oh? What is in it for me?" Rico asked with a chuckle.

"You get to do the right thing." Clark Kent pointed out as he adjusted his glasses.

Rico scoffed, "I am from Gotham. There is no such thing. So try again or go talk with one of the other prisoners. I am sure at least a few of them went through the Gotham Underground." Rico pointed out as he started to stand up.

Clark looked annoyed but Lois was already on top of it. "I will help get news about your illegal imprisonment. My sources in the GCPD have already confirmed that they are looking for a shapeshifting suspect." Rico sat back down and saw Clark flinch in surprise. Seems that Miss Lane came with a plane that did not include Kent.

Clark tapped a red button on their side and Rico could no longer hear their voices as he saw them begin to argue in silence. After a few minutes he pressed the button and was leaning back in his chair while pouting. It looked like he did not win the argument.

"I apologize for that." Miss Lane apologized and then waved. "Now let's start with how they brought you to the Gotham Underground."

"Well to start, I was in Blackgate's solitary confinement section. When my door suddenly opens and a meek looking scientist walks in. He thought he could trick me to drop my guard and then inject me with something that would knock me out. But I saw through the trap." Rico began narrating his story.

Going from solitary confinement to the secret doorway. Then all the way down the winding stairs until they arrived at the arena. Then how the Gotham Underground was divided between the criminal groups of Gotham minus the crazies. Then how he was pitted against a Venom Bear that he beat in submission.

Then how he was sold to a Russian mobster who then tossed him in with another prisoner. But before he could go any further the lights in the room began blinking red and flashing.

Rico looked around in surprise before an automated voice began coming from his collar. "All prisoners return to your cell immediately-" It cut off a moment later as the blue metal sliding doors behind him slid open. He could see back into his cell block where the others were looking around just as confused.

Then Rico watched as the side door that interrupted the reinforced window, that was lining the middle of the room, popped open. Then behind Lane who was looking confused and Clark who was looking around with determination the door opened up. A group of people in black tactical gear marched inside.

They had their weapons raised, some focused on Lane and Clark who were in the other room. But the rest went quickly through the door and either surrounded Rico or moved into the cell block where they held the rest of them at gunpoint.

Rico looked around and noticed these people were keeping most of their body hidden but a shorter sleeve here and there revealed some tattoos. A few moments later a figure entered through the door. He was holding a stopwatch as he walked in. "We have at most seven minutes. I suggest you hurry." The skinny man stepped to the side as a larger figure stepped inside.

One that Rico had seen several times before. He wore a mask and was focused on Rico as he entered. He looked at the reporters and nodded at them. "Move these two with the prisoners in that cell block." He told his people and they were pulled out of their seats and toward the main cell block.

Rico noticed that Lane discretely left her recording device. She was probably hoping to get some juicy information.

"Where is she?" Bane asked with his heavy Spanish Accent.
