Chapter 3 - Old Master Pius and Madam Pius comes Home

She found a set of small pajamas that looked like a Pikachu, which Little Treasure could wear. She had bought them while working part-time and just casually put them in the closet.

It was easier for Gaus to change clothes since her little brother had left some clothes behind for her.

Rose felt like she had disappointed her adoptive parents after reuniting with her real parents. She didn't have the courage to see them again, so she rarely talked to them and only stayed in touch with her little brother, Tang Nuo.

After finding the clothes, Rose went back to her room to get new bedsheets and pillow covers.

The sofa in the living room wasn't big enough for Gaus to stretch out his legs. She moved a stool over to make the space bigger.

She didn't have to worry about Little Treasure. He washed himself, put on the cute pajamas, and went straight to bed on his own.

Rose finished her bath and changed into a more modest pair of pajamas. She walked out after making sure she looked okay.

"That… Mr. Gaus, I'm going to sleep first. Call me if you need anything. "

"Okay. " Gaus's eyes lost focus as he looked at the freshly bathed Rose. His eyes darkened a little.

She was wearing the most normal pajamas and had her hair in a bun. She looked fresh, and her skin had a natural glow from the shower.

He noticed that Rose had dressed simply. There was nothing wrong with how she looked.

But inside Gaus, something felt hard to describe. He noticed that a certain part of his body was reacting a bit.

Rose went into her bedroom and saw that there was a cute little creature there. She felt happy.

Lots of things have changed since last night.

"Sleep soon," she said, turning off the light and leaving the lamp on. She lay down next to Little Bun.

Little Bun blinked, seeming completely ready to stay awake.

Rose had a headache.

It looked like kids needed stories to fall asleep.

Rose gave up and said, "I don't know how to tell stories. What if I sing a song for you? "

Little Bun looked excited and nodded.

So Rose gently patted Little Bun's back and started to sing softly:

In the warm and cold autumn days,

Staying close by your side,

Quietly watching time fly by.

Those red leaves amongst the wind

Caused my heart to be at peace.

Between wakefulness and drunkenness,

Resisting the urge to smile.

Let me be like the snow in the clouds,

Raining cold gentle kisses on faces

With endless feelings of lingering,

Flows endless love in humanity.

Welcoming the thousand changes in life...

Rose stopped singing because the next line was "Having sex with a lover. "

Yikes! That line didn't seem right for a child.

She should switch to another song.

Rose coughed, "Auntie will sing another song for you since I forgot the next line! "

Little Bun nodded.

Rose thought hard about a better song for a child:

Jack and Jill went up the hill

To fetch a pail of water.

Jack fell down and broke his crown,

And Jill came tumbling after.

Up Jack got, and home did trot,

As fast as he could caper,

He went to bed to mend his head,

With vinegar and brown paper.

After singing, it three times, she heard sweet snoring from her side.

Raising kids wasn't easy at all.

She suddenly felt respect for Gaus as a single dad.

She wondered who Little Bun's mother was. Why did she give birth to him and leave Gaus?

Was it because her family status was too low for the Lu family to accept?

Was there something wrong with Gaus?

Rose slowly fell asleep, letting her mind wander.

At midnight, Rose was suddenly woken up by a muffled sound from the living room.

She gently got off the bed to check on little Bun, who was sleeping soundly.

She saw Gaus pouring some water to drink after he opened the bedroom door. One hand was on his stomach, and his face looked pale.

Rose rushed over. "Mr Gaus, are you okay? "

"Nothing serious," he replied.

"Does your stomach hurt? "

Gaus didn't answer.

Rose knew she was right.

Gaus couldn't stand spicy food. But why would he try to eat it?

"Wait a minute, I'll get you some medicine for your stomach. "

She was glad she had the usual medicine at home.

Rose quickly brought the stomach medicine over, "You need to take both pills. "

"Thank you," Gaus took the pills from her hand. His slightly cold fingers lightly touched her palm, and it felt like they were touching her heart. It suddenly made her feel weak.

In the still quiet of the stormy night, it was too easy to lose control in front of someone so beautiful!

Rose silently recited the digits of Pi until she could calm her heart down.

She stayed with Gaus while he took the medicine, since it wasn't polite to leave right away.

"Are you feeling a little better? Do you need to go to the hospital? I'm sorry, I didn't know you couldn't eat spicy food…"

She had been worried about little Bun all along. In the end, nothing happened to little bun, but something happened to Gaus instead! What would this be called...

"It's not your fault, it's just an old problem. "

Gaus suddenly spoke after a silence: "The reason I came to your place tonight was because Little Treasure wanted to see you. "

Rose wasn't sure if he had said that by accident, "Little Treasure wanted to see me? "

"Little Treasure was very scared in the warehouse. He really relies on you now since you saved him," Gaus explained.

Rose noticed that whenever Little Treasure was around, or if someone mentioned him, the cold atmosphere around Gaus would ease a lot. He wasn't as scary as he was earlier in the daytime.

"So it was like this..." Rose nodded.

This kind of night made it easy to let down one's guard. Rose asked a question that had been on her mind for a while, "Umm, just asking, does Little Treasure not know how to speak? "

She had never heard Little Treasure say a single word. He would only nod or shake his head.

"More than not knowing how to talk, he doesn't want to talk," Gaus answered.

"So it's a problem of the heart? " Rose frowned.

"Little Treasure is quite closed off. He tends to shut himself away," Gaus said honestly.

"It's like this..." It was basically what she had guessed.

As to why Little Treasure was so closed off, it was a secret of a rich family, and she wouldn't dare ask any more.

"Miss Rose," Gaus suddenly looked directly at her. His eyes were bright, cold, and calm. Yet they made her feel so intense they could burn a body into ashes.

"Yes? " Rose started a little at the intensity of his gaze.

"Have we met somewhere before? " Gaus asked.

If someone else had said that, Rose would have thought they were trying to start a conversation, using an old-fashioned way. But Gaus's eyes showed real confusion.

"We probably haven't. Even if I had met Mr. Gausbefore, I would have remembered. But is there something wrong? " Rose kept her voice steady. With her status, she couldn't have met someone of Gaus's level. That would have been the case even when she was still the Ning family's young miss.

"Nothing," Gaus looked away, his eyes reflecting the dark night outside the window. He seemed a bit lonely.

The mood between them was getting a little tense as they talked like this.

"Mr Gaus, if you don't need anything else, then I'll go to sleep first? " Rose carefully said.

It seemed like Gaus had seen through her. He raised his hand, "No rush, sit. "

No rush? ! She was in a big hurry, okay!

Rose sat down quietly, like a little kid in school. Her face looked like she was about to cry.

Gaus held his head with one hand and said, "Are you scared of me? "

In the dark of night, Gaus seemed even more dangerous than he did during the day.

Rose shook her head a lot, then nodded carefully, "I guess no one in the capital isn't scared of you, right? "

Gaus played with the cup in his hand as he said slowly, "So you're scared of me because others are scared of me? Then why don't you marry me, since other women want to too? "

This question made Rose so scared she almost fell out of her chair.

She had just thought she had gotten out of that situation during the day. Clearly she had been too naive.

How was she supposed to answer such a tough question?

Rose trembled as she raised her hand, "Before I answer, can I ask you another question? "

Gaus nodded, "Sure. "

"Why me? Is it because Little Treasure depends on me? I think that's only temporary. He'll be fine once his emotions settle. Even if he's always like that, you don't have to… you don't have to go through all this trouble…"

Rose tried her best to convince him, as if she was talking to a girl who had gone the wrong way.

Gaus put down the cup and looked at her, "I thought I made it clear the first time, Miss Rose. If you don't understand, I'll say it again. I'm going to repay you with my body because you saved Little Treasure. "

Exactly because of this, I can't accept this! Rose thought in her heart.

She felt like she couldn't talk to him anymore about this. All she could do was make an apologetic face, "Mr Gaus, I'm very thankful for your kindness. But I'm not interested in marriage, so…"

Gaus raised an eyebrow, "So, you only want to sleep with me, but not marry me? "

"Yes, that's exactly—wait! No, no, no, no… that's not what I meant! " Rose was about to kneel. Could he be any more terrifying with his words?

"Unfortunately, I don't accept premarital sex. "

"Who would believe that…" Rose muttered under her breath.

You've already been pregnant before marriage, okay?

Gaus looked out the window, his expression a bit blank, "Little Treasure was an accident. I don't know who his mother is. "

"..." Why did that sound so bad?

"Then you're okay with me having a son? " Gaus suddenly asked.

"That's impossible! " Rose thought. If Gaus said that, then all the women in the capital were trying to be Little Treasure's stepmother. How could she care that he had a son?

"Then why? "

It seemed like Gaus wasn't going to let her go unless she gave a good answer.

Rose held her forehead and took a deep breath. She said, "Mr Gaus, marriage isn't a game. Whether it's for repaying a debt or any other reason, we just met. Do you understand my personality? Do you know my past? "

"The one I want to marry is the present you. "Your past has nothing to do with me," Gaus answered, as expected, in a strong tone.

Rose's expression cooled, "But to me, my past is also part of me. I can't just cut it off to marry you. Mr Gaus, we are going in different directions. I honestly suggest that you take back your crazy idea. "

A heavy silence followed.

Rose thought Gaus would get angry again after being rejected.

But Gaus spoke calmly, "Understood. "

Rose's tight nerves finally eased, "Then I'm going to sleep. Good night. "

"Good night. "

The man looked at that weak back, his gaze as deep as the ocean. The only thing that stayed the same was the heat from the bottom of the sea.

Rose was woken up by the sound of a man's low voice coming from the living room the next morning.

Gaus put down his phone when he heard footsteps behind him.

He smiled and asked, "Did I wake you up? "

Rose looked at the man in front of her, her eyes wide with surprise.

Gaus wasn't wearing a shirt.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw bare skin, and it was too much to take in.

She rubbed her nose, glad she hadn't done anything foolish.

Gaus didn't seem to notice her strange expression.

Instead, he calmly picked up his shirt from the sofa and began to put it on. He said while buttoning up, "There's an emergency at work, I need to leave now. Could you wake up Little Treasure for me? "

"Oh, sure!

" Rose nodded and hurried to call for Little Treasure.

In the end, she didn't have to call.

As soon as she turned around, she saw a soft, moe, and incredibly cute Pikachu staring right at his dad, Gaus, without blinking. His face clearly showed he was unhappy.

"Little Treasure, go get dressed," Gaus said as he put on his coat.

The response was a loud "Bang!

" as the bedroom door shut quickly.

Gaus was completely unfazed.

Gaus: "..."

Rose: "..."

Gaus tried the door but found it locked from the inside.

He looked at Rose, "Do you have the key?

"

Rose awkwardly shook her head, "I do, but it's inside the room.

"

Gaus pinched his brow and spoke in a cold voice, "Lu Qingyu, you have three minutes.

If you don't come out by then, you won't be coming back here again. "

After three minutes, there was no sound from inside.

"Tressure, come out!

If you're expecting me to force you out, then I won't be so easy on you! "

Still nothing.

A certain little bun wasn't giving his father one bit of dignity.

Rose watched from the side and fought the urge to laugh, "I can go to work later, why don't Little Treasure stay here for a while longer?

"

Gaus's face turned dark as he pulled out his phone and began to call someone.

Rose took a peek and saw he was calling a psychiatrist.

She was stunned. Was he really calling a psychiatrist over something so small? Wasn't it making a mountain out of a molehill?

Rose coughed lightly and suggested, "Why don't you let me try?

"

Gaus hesitated a moment, then nodded.

Rose leaned on the door and used a gentle tone, "Little Treasure, Auntie has to go to work later.

I can't take care of you. Could you go home with Daddy first? "

Still no response from inside.

How about this: Let's exchange phone numbers so we can contact each other whenever we want.

We can even video call! "

A shaky sound came from inside.

"The director will scold me if auntie is late.

"Our director is really strict, auntie is so pitiful wuuuuuu..."

The door opened.

Gaus had been ready for a long battle.

His eyes briefly showed surprise. He looked at the woman beside him with a complex expression.

She had managed to get Little Treasure to come out quietly with just a few words.

The last time this happened, Little Treasure had locked himself in the attic at home.

Their whole family, the butlers, maids, even the psychiatrist and a negotiation expert, had all been involved. They finally had to break the door down after talking all day. The result was the little guy ignoring them for an entire month.

Rose was unaware of this incident.

She just thought the child was very obedient. She picked up the little bun. He had been miserable but still came out because he didn't want to see her get scolded. She praised, "Little Treasure is so obedient, thank you darling! "

The praised little bun looked a little happier.

He quietly handed her a piece of paper with a string of numbers on it.

Rose received the note, "Eh?

Is this your phone number? Great, I'll save it. I'll definitely call you when I have time! "

Gaus thought something was off.

Little Treasure didn't have a phone, so where did he get that number?

He looked over, using his height advantage, and saw it was his own phone number.

Not bad, as expected of his son! Rose was woken up by the sound of a man's low voice coming from the living room the next morning.

Gaus put down his phone when he heard footsteps behind him.

Gaus thought something was off.

Little Treasure didn't have a phone, so where did he get that number?

He looked over, using his height advantage, and saw it was his own phone number.

Not bad, as expected of his son!

Martha was furious in the office. "Rose auditioned and got the role of supporting female lead! "

"Supporting female lead? " Elly frowned. "Wasn't she just in an unknown movie playing a tiny role? How could she have time to audition for a major role like this? "

"I thought the same at first. I found out some things about yesterday's audition for the lead female role. The judges were about to leave when they accidentally saw Rose. They thought she was perfect for the role and decided on the spot. That's why you were so careful around her. This Rose is really tricky. Even after the auditions were over, she still managed to influence the judges. Who knows which judge she was trying to win over! "

Martha didn't say anything more. Rose's appearance was a powerful tool. It wouldn't surprise her if one of the judges had developed feelings for her.

She had planned to carefully mentor Rose when she first signed her. Who knew Elly would suddenly appear out of nowhere.

On one side was a rookie with no connections. On the other side was a popular artist with a big family. The choice was clear. In the entertainment world, it wasn't just looks that mattered.

Elly looked down. "Even though it's not the lead, this movie is a big production! "

Anyone listening could tell she didn't want Rose to get the role.

Martha was a bit worried. "I'm afraid there might be some problems. The company put a lot of money into this movie. The boss who owns the company would be happy if both the lead and supporting roles are from our company. If there was someone else better, we could replace Rose. But no one else passed the audition. Now we don't have a reason to remove Rose..."

Elly seemed to think of something and then calmed down. She touched her neatly painted nails and laughed. "Forget about it. If she wants to play the fox spirit, then let her do it. A seductress who caused the fall of a nation—this role is perfect for her! "

...

Rose got a call from Martha right away, telling her that she had been cast as the supporting lead in Land Under Heaven. She had to start preparing.

The movie Land Under Heaven showed the female lead using good qualities to help the male lead take the throne. Meanwhile, the supporting female lead used bad methods, made enemies, and was eventually forced to jump off a cliff, making people happy.

That's why Elly was so willing to let her take on this role.

Even though she got the supporting role in Land Under Heaven, Rose still had more work to do. She had to film another role, that of a mistress who stole a man's husband. There was only a five-minute scene left. She would be surrounded by a group of people who would beat her for five minutes.

Actually, filming that five-minute part took two hours. The people playing the crowd were new and their actions didn't match their expressions. She had to be hit repeatedly.

After returning home, Rose turned on the TV and sat on the sofa, exhausted.

She felt like she had forgotten something after lying down for a while.

The TV was showing the news, and a familiar face appeared on screen.

That incredibly beautiful face, those broad shoulders, slim waist, long legs, and strong personality—could it be anyone else but Gaus, little bun's father!

Gaus seemed to be at a contract signing event, shaking hands with some foreigners.

The host was excitedly talking about how the Gaus Corporation had signed a deal with an Italian brand and was entering the European market. Their stock could double.

Rose suddenly remembered. She had forgotten to call little Bun!

...

In the Platinum Palace,

The Gaus parents had returned from overseas, and the whole family was having dinner together.

The Gaus Corporation was about to finalize a major contract they had been planning for three years. Old Master Pius was very happy and praised Gaus a lot, even giving Gerrald some praise.

But the main topic came up toward the end.

His words were something like: Work is important, but your precious grandson is even more important!

Old Master Pius: "Gaus, work is important, but you can't forget about Little Treasure. You've finished the busy part of work, so spend more time with Little Treasure! "

Old Madam Pius: "Find someone to help take care of Little Treasure if you really don't have time. Little Treasure has grown so much already. You should also think about your own personal life! "

Old Master Pius: "Your mother is right! "

Gerrald gave his brother a subtle look. Their parents were starting to play this game again.

Gaus kept eating and said nothing.

Little Treasure was holding a phone, not moving a single finger. Grammar Check
