Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: Black Dragon

"Happy!"

"Carla!"

"Panther Lily!"

Gajeel, Wendy, and Natsu — the three Dragon Slayer Mages — immediately rushed over, anxiously checking on their companions.

"These three little guys almost destroyed Hades's 'heart.' Luckily, I stopped them in time. Though the library is a complete mess now."

Wes Elwin said this with effortless ease, as if he had long prepared the excuse, completely ignoring the actual truth.

Hades let out a cold snort, clearly unimpressed by such an explanation.

By this time, he had already removed his eyepatch, and the magical power radiating from his eyes was so overwhelming it was suffocating.

Ordinary mages wouldn't even have the courage to stand before Hades, and those participating in the Tenrou Island trial were all elites of the Fairy Tail guild.

Now, all of them had gathered on this battlefield, facing a single shared enemy — Hades.

"It seems the Seven Kin of Purgatory have all been dealt with. Not bad at all."

There was a trace of admiration in Wes Elwin's voice. After speaking, he casually tossed the three cat-like Exceed toward the Fairy Tail members.

"Keep an eye on your pets. Don't let them run around."

As Happy, Carla, and Panther Lily were thrown over, the Fairy Tail members immediately caught them.

"Do you need my help?" Wes Elwin turned and asked Hades.

"No need. Fairy Tail… I shall destroy them with my own hands."

Wes Elwin nodded and stepped aside.

He intended to observe the coming battle up close. This was not just a clash between Fairy Tail and Grimoire Heart, but more like an inevitable internal struggle that would determine fate itself.

Hades's magic power poured forth like an endless tide. The incomparably powerful pressure made everyone in Fairy Tail feel as if they were trapped in a swamp, unable to move an inch.

The S-Class mages could barely maintain their footing, while the younger generation almost couldn't even breathe.

Under such intense oppression, Wendy, the youngest among them, was protected in the center, doing her utmost to heal the badly injured Makarov.

Just when everyone was beginning to sink into despair, Natsu — stubborn and reckless as ever — charged at Hades without hesitation, instantly reigniting the courage of the younger mages.

One after another, they broke free from the suppression of Hades's magic power and joined the fight.

Hades took on Fairy Tail's strongest group alone, yet not only did he fail to fall behind — he completely overwhelmed them with his immense magical prowess.

Whether it was Crushing Magic or Dragon Slayer Magic, everything in Hades's hands displayed extraordinary power.

Be it a one-on-one or a group brawl, Hades remained ferociously dominant.

Standing to the side, Wes Elwin watched the entire magical exchange unfold.

Hades not only unleashed the devastating "Amaterasu," but also wielded dark magic.

Laxus's Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic also shone brilliantly on the battlefield. Although he was a second-generation Dragon Slayer, his power was still not to be underestimated.

Yet the one who intrigued Wes Elwin the most was Cana — the woman who usually loved nothing more than drinking.

Her Card Magic might not have seemed particularly impressive, but she had actually mastered the super spell known as "Fairy Glitter."

The uniqueness of this magic lay in the fact that only members of Fairy Tail could ever learn it.

With her comrades desperately covering for her, Cana finally unleashed that technique — "Fairy Glitter."

Wes clearly saw a flash of astonishment cross Hades's face.

"Such a weak mage actually learned Mavis's magic… Fairy Tail truly has fallen."

Hades let out a cold snort and finally began to take the battle seriously.

"Law of the Devil!"

Dark power gathered in his hands as black clouds covered the sky, plunging the surroundings into eerie dimness.

The two ultra-tier magics collided in midair, canceling each other out.

"How is that possible?! That was the First Master's—!"

Cana cried out in disbelief. Her trump card had been effortlessly neutralized by Hades.

Faced with this outcome, she didn't know what to do. Tears welled up in her eyes.

Even with Gildarts trying to comfort her, Cana still couldn't come to terms with her defeat.

"This isn't your fault."

Makarov's voice rang out from nearby. After Wendy's treatment, he had regained some of his combat ability.

"This man was once a member of Fairy Tail — our second Guild Master. A man who has mastered all of Fairy Tail's magic."

Makarov's words made every Fairy Tail mage present feel their minds buzzing. The enemy before them was far more terrifying than they had imagined.

"But!" Veins bulged on Makarov's forehead as he roared, "He is our enemy now! Defeat him!!"

The moment he finished speaking, Tenrou Island — which had been devastated by the battle — began to restore itself miraculously.

The forest burst back to life. The frozen wasteland created by Wes's magic gradually melted, returning to its original state.

The entire island seemed to rewind time, reverting to how it looked before Grimoire Heart's invasion.

The only one capable of this was Ultear. Her actions were undoubtedly a betrayal of Grimoire Heart — and of Hades.

Hades had never expected his most trusted subordinate to betray him at such a critical moment.

His expression turned colder than ice, the killing intent in his heart no longer restrained.

Seeing Tenrou Island restored, Fairy Tail's morale surged as they prepared for the decisive battle to come.

Then suddenly, the sound of wings beating through the air echoed across the sky:

"Whoosh~"

"Whoosh~"

"Whoosh~"

The sound grew closer and closer, as if some terrifying existence was flying toward them.

Everyone felt as though an invisible hand had gripped their hearts tightly, making it hard to breathe.

This was an instinctive warning — heralding the arrival of an irresistible force.

All eyes turned toward the sky.

A gigantic black dragon came soaring in, its scales engraved with mysterious patterns. Its massive wings blotted out the sun, plunging the heavens into shadow.

"A DRAGON!!"

The most excited were the three first-generation Dragon Slayers.

Natsu reacted instantly, waving enthusiastically at the black dragon and shouting:

"Hey! Do you know where Igneel is?!"

In response came only a terrifying roar, carrying a clear intent within it.

Destruction! Annihilation!

Gildarts hurriedly stopped Natsu's reckless behavior:

"Natsu, calm down! This is the dragon that attacked me before!"

Cold sweat seeped from Gildarts's forehead — he understood this black dragon's power all too well.

Only Wes, Hades, and Makarov noticed that there was someone sitting atop the black dragon.

Hades's voice trembled as he recognized the figure immediately:

"Zeref… Lord Zeref!!"
