Levian threw the sun.
It felt good to release the weight from on top of him. Watching the twirling white mass of flames flying through the sky towards his brother felt theatrical, but he couldn't stay to enjoy the show.
The strike was sure to hit. Of that he was certain. Whether it killed or not would bring about a different question.
So instead, Levian ran. He withdrew his weapons into his soulspace and sprinted with all of his might down the hill.
He heard and felt the impact of the white sun as it rumbled the ground of the field and startled the nearby creatures, sending them fleeing from their homes.
It was sure to draw the attention of nearby estates, but he hoped that no one from the bladeblessed estate would see it.
Either way, it didn't matter. He had to escape.
He had to make it back to Bladeblessed's dungeon and free Cassius.
There was no time to collect his bags or anything else he wished to carry; he just needed to escape the Human Empire and make his way towards the elves.
"Afterwards... everything will be okay, " he muttered to himself, as he continued sprinting towards the estate. "Everything... Will be okay."
---
Levian slowed down as he came into view of the Bladeblessed estate. It was well into the night, so the lights were all off.
However, with the absence of three lords, there were sure to be some people waiting for their return, even if they were just maids and servants.
Levian looked down at himself. He wore all black, which hid his wounds well, but it was clear that he had been damaged severely, especially through his hand.
That meant that he had to be even more careful not to be seen.
As fast as he could, he made his way around the gardens of the estate and climbed through his bedroom window, which he had left open.
Inside, he saw his possessions. Items that carried memories of his childhood...
However, they would only slow him down. He had to make sure that he freed Cassius and escaped with the young elf as fast as possible.
He entered the hallways of the estate. It was still dimly lit and quiet, which meant that he had to creep through. A hard feat for a man with a constantly draining life force and no energy.
Luckily, he managed to make it to the dungeon entrance without spotting anybody.
It was there that he faced his first problem.
"Young lord... is that you?"
It was the guard's voice, sitting on a nearby chair and woken from his sleep.
Levian tried to ignore the man and continue into the dungeon, but it was a foolish move. After all, how would he escape without seeing the man again?
The guard stirred and sat up taller. His eyes adjusted to the darkness and he caught sight of Levian's form.
"By the gods... your hand, my Lord. It's—"
THUD
Levian drove his elbow into the man's jaw. A sharp crack followed as he was knocked right back to sleep and slumped into his chair.
So much for going unnoticed.
After knocking out the guard, he unlocked the dungeon door and quickly made his way down the stairs.
As he descended, he realised that it had been a while since he had seen Cassius. He only hoped that the young elf was still alive.
After reaching the bottom floor, he spotted Cassius' cell. To his surprise, the young elf lay there fast asleep.
However, he looked different from before... Much different.
His long brown hair had been shaved bald. One of his eyes had been cut out, now replaced by a crude scar. His right hand was missing its middle finger, and purple bruises riddled his entire body.
Levian stood there in disbelief, a wave of emotions spreading through him.
"This... is this what we did to you?"
At his hoarse words, Cassius stirred from his sleep. With a yawn, he pushed himself to a seated position and his singular good eye met Levian's.
"You look terrible Levian. What happened to you?"
I look terrible?
Levian bit his lip and forced his tears back. He couldn't let his emotions escape, otherwise it would just slow them down.
In an instant, he started working on the lock of the cell, which he had stolen from the guard.
Cassius's green eye glared at him with surprise.
"I've killed Malachi, and maybe Adam. We need to escape from the empire."
CLANK
The door to the cell opened, and Levian stared down at his broken servant. A boy he had known for years.
Despite the circumstances, a smile spread across the young elf's face. Somehow, he was still able to put on such a cheerful expression.
"I thought that this time would never come!"
---
As the pair hurried out of the estate, Levian felt his head becoming light, and his vision going blurry.
Cassius kept asking him questions, but all he could make out were faint words like "how?" And "What now?"
It continued like this until they reached the estate stables. There, Levian began to mount his horse, and Cassius climbed onto the horse next to him.
It was Adam's.
The fresh breeze of the wind brought his senses back to him enough so that he could hear Cassius' words.
"You can't ride like that, Levian. Give me your hand."
Groggily, Levian did as he said.
The young elf took his hand, and suddenly, a green blur began to form over the gruesome wound where the spear had pierced his limb.
Suddenly, he felt a warm sensation spread throughout him, as his flesh was being knitted back together.
Cassius is a healer class?
He then did the same for the wound on his side.
Once done, his life force remained the same, blood still caked the wound, and he still had no feeling in his fingers; however, the pain had started to vanish, and the wound had been sealed with a scar.
He nodded his head thankfully and began to take off with the horse, heading away from the estate with Cassius following behind him.
"What now, Levian? Will we head straight to the Elf Empire?"
Levian directed the large white horse down the familiar path, heading towards a direction which he had travelled before.
He gritted his teeth through the pain whilst wondering whether his next decision would be a mistake.
"Not yet. First, we need to go and get Diana Emberbury."
