Chapter 18 - Brothers (3)

"Bro..."

Adam stared at Malachi's fallen body, face filled with disbelief.

Slowly, he took a step towards it, then another. The middle brother fell to his knees and brushed his hand across Malachi's face.

Just like that, he had been killed.

Levian had no time for sentiment. He was too busy trying to control the changes taking place within his body after breaking through to gold.

A few of his stats had increased, but he had no time to look over them.

He was more focused on a new area of his system opening up to him.

[Class Awakened: Godsmith]

A master craftsman with the unique ability to alter and enhance weapons, purely through sheer thought and will alone. Where other smiths forge with tools and materials, the Godsmith taps into the essence of creation itself.

[Mastery Path: 0%]

Upon completion, the Godsmith will awaken a new talent.

---

Finally, my class has awakened... but what is this?

Levian had never heard of the godsmith before. Many people had awakened classes related to forging tools, especially those of the dwarven race.

However, the godsmith was one he had never heard of. It made sense, due to his strange talent.

"A silver..."

Adam's quivering voice drew Levian from his thoughts. He looked down to find the man kneeling by the corpse of his brother, fists clenched in rage.

"Killed in one hit by a silver... is that what a mythical weapon is capable of?"

The man pushed himself to his feet.

Of the three brothers, Adam was the smallest. He had to look up at his youngest brother, and as he did, tears fell from his eyes.

Levian could sense the malice behind them.

"At first, I was here for Malachi. There needed to be another witness to make sure that his story held up, but now..."

They looked down at the man's bleeding corpse. The shadow sword had now faded, but the wound remained.

"But now, I've decided that I will handle things correctly."

Adam stretched his hand out to the side, and suddenly, a spear appeared in his hand.

It was golden like the man's hair, and every now and then, it sparked with light blue energy all the way to its sharp point.

The sun had now set. Only the moons glow was cast upon the scene of the bladeblessed brothers.

"Let us dance, little brother!"

The two brothers dashed towards each other, both were fast, but Adam being the smaller and higher ranked man allowed him to close the distance faster.

He opened with a thrust, crouching and aiming low for Levian's leg. Just in time, he managed to drop his gaurd and parry the strike to the side.

For a moment, Adam's spear point was stuck in the earth.

An opening!

Levian thrust his blade forwards, but in the same instant, Adam and his weapon vanished.

Levian stood there, confused.

A weapon skill? But where did he—

Levian dove to the side at the sound of an approaching strike from above.

Adam crashed into the grass where he stood with incredible force. It was as though a spark of lightning had crashed, sending mounds of dirt flying into the air.

With a roll, Levian managed to get to his feet. His eyes glared at Adam with surprise.

"You already knew that I was one of the rare bladeblessed to awaken a class that mixed both physical and magical combat. Do not be so shocked that I am not as one dimensional as Malachi."

Levian felt nerves flow through him. Adam was right.

Whilst Malachi was a simple knight, Adam was known to have awakened the Arcane Knight class.

However, Levian knew that the gap between himself and his brother had now been shortened.

Levian's stats had increased, and he was the one that wielded the mythical weapons.

Under these circumstances, even whilst currently holding half the life force of his opponent, Levian felt confidence surge through him.

"I'll show you the difference between us Adam. I'll prove that I'm not the failure of the family."

The two entered their stances one again, and then, Adam charged.

This time, the man was a blur that left a trail of lightning travelling behind him. He arrived with a thrust that crashed through the air like thunder.

Levian managed to parry the blow, but his defence failed him once again. The strike made it through his gaurd, and managed to knick him in the side of his stomach.

It was a grazing wound, but he still felt warm blood running down his body.

[Life force: 150/210]

Levian remained on the defensive, parrying whatever strikes that he could. After taking a few more cuts, he cursed to himself through gritted teeth.

This isn't how I should be fighting.

Why do I always let me opponents put me on the defensive?!

Levian charged forwards, mounting a strike of his own. He swung his blade sideways with a two handed grip, even with the pain in his right wrist.

The strike was easily parried by the pole of Adam's spear. In the same second, the man aimed a thursted strike for Levian's neck.

He thought that it was all over.

The experience of the two men had put both of his brothers far above him when it came to combat theory and martial arts. That was exactly why he found himself constantly on the defence.

Levian found himself left with no other choice.

He sent Nyx back into his soulspace space and rose his right hand up to his face to defend.

"Aghhh!" He cried, as the spear tore through his palms, slowing down the strike. With his other hand, he grabbed the head of the spear and pushed against it with all of his might.

Just in time he had managed to stop the point of the spear from piercing his face. However, Adam simply smirked.

The smaller man withdrew his spear rapidly, sending blood from Levian's hand spraying with blood.

Arteries had been torn, and his life force began to drain from him with every moment.

Adam delivered a kick to his stomach, sending him stumbling backwards and he cried in agony.

"This is what Malachi spoke of, even if he failed to show it himself. For two years, me and him have worked our ways up from bronze, training in the dungeons everyday. You on the other hand, happened to stumble across a broken talent, simply because of luck... Even with those mythicals, your efforts are futile."

[Life Force: 100/210]

Levian stood there, blood pouring from his hand as he panted for air. He slowly felt himself nearing his death with every passing second.

[Life Force: 95/210]

A-am I going to die?

In that moment, his mind raced through countless plans. He thought over the skills of his weapons and how he could combine them together in order to create an opportunity to win, or even just escape.

And then, it came to him. An idea.

He summoned Nyx into his hand once again, carrying it in his singular good grip.

Adam looked at his brother with a raised brow. "Still won't give up? Fine, then I must cut you down—"

Absolute Silence.

Levian slammed Nyx into the ground, and in an instant, a white glowing circle formed around the top of the hill. All sound disappeared, and for any opponent that stood inside, their skills became useless.

Adam looked at his spear, confused. Then, his mouth moved, but Levian couldn't hear the words.

It was that moment of confusion that Levian wished to take advantage of.

Adam had expected Levian to continue fighting using Nyx, hoping that if Adam could not use magic, then he might stand a better chance.

Levian was not that stupid. He had already confirmed that with simple martial arts alone, Adam was his better.

So instead, be withdrew Nyx into his soulspace, and summoned White Sun, all in the matter of an instant.

Absolute Silence disappeared, and sound had returned to the hilltop once again.

Adam's face filled with confusion once again. Was his opponent playing games with him?

However, it was at that moment where he noticed the sky open up above him. Arrows began to fall like rain, which forced him to dash out of the way towards the side.

Rain of Jericho!

THUD THUD THUD

Arrows crashed into the grass in succession, but it was an easy strike to dodge.

Adam turned his eyes back to his opponent, disappointed that he thought such a strike might work.

And then, he noticed it.

Levian stood there, holding his weapon up towards the heavens. At the head of the mace, a glowing white orb began to rapidly expand.

It first doubled, then quadrupled. Only a second later, it was the size of a small house, a mass of swirling white solar energy that acted as a second sun.

Levian stood beneath the weight of the spell, blood dripping down his body and clothes torn.

Adam felt fear running through his body, and instantly, his instincts begged him to run.

But it was too late.

Levian tossed the sun towards his opponent.

White Eclipse.
