At first, Gale wasn't sure how to react to Ren's question. He wasn't teasing her, nor was he trying to make fun of her, he was genuinely curious. She softened, letting out a small breath before smiling.
"I mean, who wouldn't?" She began, her eyes drifting toward Kaien, who was laying up ahead like a carefree child. "Sure, he's strong, no one can deny that. But more than that, he brings happiness, lightness, and peace into this cruel world. He carries a lot on his shoulders, maybe even more pain than he lets on, yet just being around him makes me feel lighter. Like even in this kind of world, I can still breathe, still smile."
Ren nodded, glancing at Kaien as well. "I can kind of see that. I don't know what's going on in his head, but I can tell he's a good hearted person. Still, aren't you afraid? That one day he'll get caught up in something dangerous?"
