Adrian's POV
"Mr. Carter?…" Lucas's voice rang for the fifth time, louder this time, until I finally snapped out of my haze.
I stared around, to the afternoon sun still seeping into the room. Since the board hadn't finalized their decision of removing me from office, u was still CEO. And until they are able to do that as well as find a replacement, I'll still be here.
My head had been spinning since last night and the madness hadn't stopped. I hadn't even processed the news of my pregnancy before walking into the house to be told that my wife was pregnant too. And that had come with it's own issues. More complicated than the one that I was already grappling with.
Two pregnancies. Two ticking bombs. Both mine—or maybe not. I couldn't even wrap my mind around it.
I forced my gaze upward, staring blankly at Lucas. My thoughts scattered again, circling back to what felt wrong about this morning. The empty table, the quietness of the morning with no one pestering me.
Landon.
