Chapter 4 - INTERROGATION

As Bachi and Kaguro sat in the back of the police car, a heavy silence consumed them. The flashing red and blue lights outside didn't comfort them—they only reminded them of the harsh reality they were stepping into. Both knew that what they had just witnessed at Alan's house would haunt them for a long time.

Bachi looked over at Kaguro. "We… we might have to go to court for this, right?"

Kaguro gave a slow, stiff nod. "Yeah. And court cases are expensive. Really expensive. We don't have the money or the connections."

A cold knot of anxiety formed in both their stomachs. Even though they had done the right thing, they weren't prepared for what came next. Filing a proper police complaint, legal testimony, investigations—it was all foreign to them. None of this was ever taught in school. They were just kids—thrust into something adults struggle to handle.

Inside the Police Station

The police station felt grim. The white fluorescent lights above buzzed dully as Bachi, Kaguro, and the unconscious Michelle were led through the main hallway. The two boys exchanged glances again as the weight of what they were doing pressed harder onto their shoulders.

Michelle lay slumped on a stretcher, still knocked out from the tranquilizer injection Kamiko had arranged.

Kaguro stepped forward, determined. He looked the duty officer in the eye and began recounting everything in a firm but steady voice.

Kaguro: "She stabbed her own son twenty-four times. Why? Because he scored 76% in his exam. That's literally the reason—100 minus 76. She beat him ten times with various objects because she 'expected' 86 marks from him. Four with a belt, two with her hands, three with slippers... and one with acid. Pure hydrochloric acid."

The officer's eyes widened, but Kaguro continued.

Kaguro: "She said she bought the acid from the dark web. She didn't even try to hide it. And if that wasn't enough—when we discovered Alan's condition, she tried to poison us too. She offered us water, but it wasn't water. It was poison—intended to kill or at least silence us. And one more thing... she took down three teenagers on her own. She's nearly 50. That's not normal strength."

Police Officer: "Those are some serious accusations. We'll get her tested for drugs or other substances. You two, wait in the interrogation room while we begin processing her. We'll inform you if anything turns up."

Meanwhile, at the Hospital

As Kaguro and Bachi waited at the station, Kamiko, Kashimo, and Alan had reached the hospital.

Thanks to Kamiko's foresight, the police had brought along the glass Michelle had given them—the one containing the alleged "water." The hospital's forensic lab quickly began analyzing the liquid.

A few minutes later, a toxicologist approached Kamiko.

Doctor: "That wasn't just poison. It was snake venom—diluted and mixed with water. Even diluted, it's incredibly dangerous. If any more had been ingested, it could've been fatal."

Kashimo, though unconscious, still had a faint pulse. He was rushed into emergency care and administered an ASV—an anti-snake venom antidote. Monitors were hooked up to him, and he was placed under constant observation.

Alan's condition was worse.

He was rushed into surgery. Twenty-four stab wounds had torn through his limbs, stomach, and lower body. The acid burn on his face had caused deep scarring, and X-rays showed three broken bones—likely from the beatings or when his head was slammed against the monitor. The doctors quickly began the first operation and put Alan under general anesthesia.

Kamiko waited outside both rooms, heart pounding, hoping for the best.

Back at the Station – The Interrogation

Michelle finally began to stir in the interrogation room, her wrists cuffed to the chair. Her eyes fluttered open as she groaned, the sedative wearing off.

A senior officer entered, clipboard in hand.

Police Officer: "Michelle… is what these boys said true?"

Michelle (with a sneer): "No! They're lying! I was the victim! They attacked me in my home. I had to defend myself!"

Officer: "Is that true, Kaguro?"

Kaguro stepped forward, voice cold.

Kaguro: "We defended ourselves after she tried to kill us. She almost murdered her own son in front of us. We were trying to stop her. You can check the CCTV footage from her house."

Bachi: "And I didn't even touch her. I was busy trying to keep Alan alive with CPR. But she's the one who forced Kashimo to drink poisoned water. She's the only monster in this story."

The officer eyed Michelle for a moment. Her demeanor was defensive, but not convincing. She wasn't outraged or defiant—she looked bitter, as if she already knew she was caught.

Police Officer: "We'll verify everything. Stay put."

At Michelle's House – Searching for Truth

The police dispatched a forensic team to Michelle's house. Every room was searched thoroughly. Then they recovered the CCTV footage—and it changed everything.

The video clearly showed Michelle stabbing Alan repeatedly while screaming about his "low marks." Her movements were furious and deranged. The tape even showed her preparing the poisoned water and hiding a second knife in her clothes. Kaguro had been right about all of it.

But the most shocking discovery came from her room.

Among her belongings were several illegal substances, including a stimulant called Pervitin—an extremely dangerous drug used during World War II by Nazi soldiers during the Blitzkrieg campaigns. It explained Michelle's abnormal strength and violent energy.

The evidence was irrefutable. Michelle was arrested on multiple charges, including:

Attempted murder

Assault with a deadly weapon

Possession of illegal substances

Intent to poison minors

Child abuse

The Aftermath

With the case now in the police's hands, Bachi and Kaguro were finally allowed to leave the station. They immediately rushed to the hospital to check on their friends.

There, they found Kamiko waiting outside the ICU.

Kamiko: "Kashimo's still unconscious, but his vitals are stable. The antidote's working. Alan… he's been taken into surgery. They said it might take a few hours."

Bachi slumped into a nearby chair, exhausted. Kaguro leaned against the wall, his fists clenched.

They had saved their friend. But they had also crossed a line—from being ordinary students to stepping into a nightmare of trauma, violence, and survival.

Still… they had done the right thing.
