Chapter 8 - Operation no: 2

[Helen]

"So, who's gonna be the next to be saved?"

[Dr. Ren]

"I don't know, i don't pre-pick them you know, i have to treat the ones within the highest risk of death. If i don't priorities them according to their severity, many lives would be lost. That is how almost all the doctors in the world treat and pick their patients"

[Helen]

"So, according to what you're saying your supposed to treat the one closest to dying yeah?"

[Dr. Ren]

"Yes"

[Helen]

"Then shouldn't you have picked the chard guy with no face, rather than a girl without an arm?"

Silence fell within the room, none present could say another word without contradicting the safety conduct, just mentioned by Dr. Ren.

This was a sensitive subject for Dr. Ren she had lost patient's in the past for not dealing with less lethally injured patients, who ended up being prone to infections leading to organ failure and death....

Which made Dr. Ren change her mind, regarding the patient treatment priority conduct sworn by all the doctors all across the globe.

Losing her faith has, changed her treatment style and method significantly whilst increasing her patient recovery and mortality rate as well. And yet, the fact that Dr. Ren defies the oath she took as a medical student, makes her question her methods from time to time, keeping her in a constant turmoil against herself.

[Helen]

"Chill...i was just pointing it out, not accusing you of malpractice or anything, ok? Let's get to work on the next one"

The sole reason Helen said this was, because she saw what Dr. Ren was going through. It was her eye's that always gave away her emotions, no matter how hard Dr. Ren tried to steel her expressions.

It was always Ren's eyes that pleaded and looked devastated anytime someone suffered and she couldn't help them, this was what made me act kinder to her, more kinder than I'd ever been to a kitten.

Anyway, back to the story.....

[Dr. Ren]

Sigh....Right, get patient number 2 ready....

Mary prepped the patient and got him read for treatment, with all the iv's hooked to him. The patient was also given a ventilator and on dialysis for blood purification. All of this was done and ready in 5 minutes of the request.

[Mary]

"Sure, Patient 2 is ready and on stand by"

[Dr. Ren]

"Great....let's get started, push in the vitamins and lower his heartbeat to 40-50 per minute. We better avoid a cardiac arrest for the entire duration of the procedure"

[Mary]

"Sure ma'am, pushing 0.5 mg adenosine...heart rate dropping from 210 bpm to 150.....100.....60....50.....40, (under her breath)1,2,3 45 bpm now constant"

[Dr. Ren]

"Perfect, start the saline's, melatonin, benzodiazepines, zolpidem, and doxepin continue these every 30-40 minutes 0.5mg to 1.5mg. Reassess the needed amount according to the situation"

[Mary]

"Got it, now pushing 0.5mg melatonin, benzodiazepines, zolpidem, and doxepin each, chemical induced sleep will be in effect within 3.....2.....1 the patient is asleep, the wave monitor suggests rem sleep, we are good go"

With Mary's confirmation, Dr. Ren placed herself right above the patients head...in this case, me she was standing over my head, i was laid face down, back up, to be operated on...since i was the second closest to death, Dr. Ren picked me to operate on...which i consider her biggest miscalculation, if only that day she had followed the code of patient care conduct, i wouldn't have ended up here, with so much blood on my hands. But it's also true that if she hadn't the good things that have transpired through these ordeals wouldn't even have existed, so i guess, i can't really blame her, she did the best she could. Yet i wish she had made a different choice that day....anyway back to it

Once Dr. Ren was ready to begin the procedure, once there she took a deep breath and with her sigh she let out her radiation through the tips of her fingers, those green tendrils traveled towards me from the under the operation table.

The green tendrils in question are, more like uniform green mist, which look like roots, but aren't which is why, they are referred to as tendrils.

Now, i can't really remember what happened after my anesthesia kicked-in but i'll relay what i was told by Dr. Ren.

As soon as she had started the procedure, my body immediately went into shock, and seizures ensued, but suddenly stopped and started again, all the while Dr. Ren was analyzing me and what she noticed was, my body was catharizing all the attached iv's, vitamins, and life force from her tendrils, even before they had reached the wound.

All the while they were trying to stabilize me Dr. Ren noticed that all the damaged tissue was repairing itself at a rapid pace....a which even Helen couldn't handle, and was being exhausted pretty quickly, and yet Dr. Ren wasn't feeling any form of fatigue or discomfort, it was as if my body was use her as an conduit, to syphon Helen unlimited source of life force....

Once my body was done repairing itself, according to Dr. Ren i woke up, briefly but when i did i seemed confused about my body and my surroundings, which was of course normal in most cases, but i was floating above my operation table with such a bright glow in my eyes that they could have been mistaken for headlights of a car...

And the only thing i uttered in that state was :oh i'm here....okay, and so are my chances:

After saying this in a very disturbingly distorted voice, my body collapsed and didn't move until 2 more days after the procedure.....so the official time of the surgery was 3 minutes and 42 seconds approximately, and was declared safe for transport and moved to room 03 on 3rd floor.

After the incident, Dr. Ren and her team performed similar procedures on the 3rd patient, and classified his file as extreme, for he was too damaged to completely rebuild from scratch, in order to do so, it would take half the planets energy just to revive one person, so they made the tough call of sealing his wounds and treat the reaming body to health, which meant the patient would suffer from permanent blindness, impaired sense of touch, almost no sense of taste or smell, but luckily for him his ears survived granting him full use of his ears.....

once he was sealed up, the patient was declared safe to move, and was relocated to room 17 on the 8th floor of the under ground building system of the Facility.

3Day's Later.....

[Dr. Ren]

"They should be waking up by now, what do u think Helen?"

[Helen]

"Sure, they should have, i'll go check on them. But how are you doing? I've noticed a significant drop in your diet, the General won't react kindly to this you know that....."

[Dr. Ren]

"Yeah.....yeah, I remember, and don't worry he's not keeping an eye on my diet chart, you do remember we're in an emergency, he should barely have time to eat himself, so i'm sure i'll be fine"

After their conversation, Helen walked out of their resting area on the 3rd floor, activated the glide function in her boots, and basically air skated all the way to the elevator, and went on down to the 8th floor, to check on the special cases.
