When Chase picked up Elijah and Alexei, he was more stunned than the time he'd heard Nikolai speak in a devil's voice.
And that was one of the scariest things he had witnessed.
"Chase, how is Arvy?"
With how things had been last night, it wasn't exactly a pleasant time for him to ring her.
"She's good. She even posted, 'You got a girlfriend.' Though honestly? Hard to believe."
"He didn't," Alexei cut in at once. "It was the ghosts who kissed your dear monk until his lips turned blue."
Elijah, "..." Well, whatever.
It was as plain as day that the young lord was angry.
But maybe that was for the best. If Alexei stayed irritated, he wouldn't start pestering him with confessions again.
Elijah scrolled through his emails while the car rolled on in silence.
If it weren't for Chase's early morning practice, he doubted they'd even be riding together like this.
Perhaps it was time to start using his own car again.
