Chapter 10 - Chapter 9:The Prophet's Gambit

A sharp scream tore through the silent night sky. We thought to ourselves, "Someone's been eliminated again."

The system's prompt immediately followed:

"All players, please return to the main hall at once."

15 and I exchanged glances — we both knew time was running out.

We rushed back to the hall. The others began arriving as well, each wearing a different expression. Some looked terrified, others were unreadable.

Moments later, the cold voice of the system echoed once more:

"Player 1 has been eliminated."

The hall erupted in murmurs. Player 1? That was the one who had spoken in support of Player 12 on the very first day. He didn't say much, but it was clear he was on our side.

I frowned. The werewolves were clearing out potential allies.

Player 12 gritted his teeth and whispered, "They did this on purpose. He defended me in the first round."

I nodded. My resolve hardened.

Lucy stood off to the side, her gaze dark. "So, like you said, we start with Player 2 next?"

I replied softly, "Exactly. Emotions are running high now. As long as we lead the charge, getting him voted out won't be a problem. Anyone who defends him will be under immediate suspicion."

Lucy nodded. "Understood."

I scanned the room, already planning the order and rhythm of the coming accusations.

I spoke according to the plan, directing everyone's attention toward Player 2:

"Did anyone notice something strange? In the first round, Player 2 brought up how breaking the collars would lead to elimination. But here's the thing — how would he know that? That's something only a werewolf would know."

"Yeah! That rule wasn't even listed!" Player 4 suddenly realized.

"Now it's obvious. Player 2 has to be a werewolf. If we don't vote him out now, the game will spiral out of control."

The atmosphere quickly shifted. Everyone turned toward Player 2, whose face was noticeably growing tense.

Just then, Shura suddenly stood up, his voice raised:

"Let me say something. I'm the Seer. Whatever Player 9 just said? Completely false."

Silence fell instantly.

His gaze swept the room coldly, his voice unwavering:

"I checked Player 6 on the first night — they're good. Second night, I checked Player 4 — also good. Remember? Player 6 was eliminated during the second round. Player 10 was right there and did nothing to help. I'm sure of it — Player 10 is a werewolf."

"I've been on the side of the villagers the entire game. The ones I've checked have all been confirmed good."

My heart skipped a beat — but before I could respond, Shura continued:

"And last night, I checked you."

He stared straight at me, his voice slow and firm:

"You are a werewolf."

All eyes turned to me, sharp and piercing like arrows. The room went dead still.

I froze — I hadn't expected this at all.

Time seemed to stop.

Shura's gaze was fierce and unwavering. I was about to speak when suddenly, Player 4 stepped forward, frowning:

"If Shura says he checked me and I know I'm good, then… he's probably telling the truth."

That one sentence tipped the balance. Several players who had been on the fence began to waver.

I opened my mouth to speak — but was cut off by a cold laugh from Player 13.

"If he's the Seer — then what does that make me?"

Everyone paused.

Player 13 slowly stood, his expression calm but voice firm:

"I'm the real Seer. Shura is lying."

The room erupted.

Shura sneered, unfazed. "You're the one acting. Jumping in now to muddy the waters? How convenient."

The argument between them escalated rapidly. The tension in the hall was about to explode.

Just then, Ron stood up and waved his hand, silencing them.

"Alright. Since Player 13 claims to be the Seer too, tell us your checks — just like Shura."

All eyes turned to Player 13.

He hesitated for two seconds — just a little too long — before speaking:

"I haven't found any werewolves yet. The people I checked were all villagers. But I'm certain Shura is lying — because I'm the real Seer."

Ron frowned, eyes narrowing. "You expect us to believe that just because you say so? At least give us something to work with."

Player 13's tone grew anxious. "Shura jumped too early — he knew I'd check him next. Think about it! Why else would he pop out now and conveniently say he checked Player 4? It's all staged!"

The two men continued their standoff. The rest of the room was left in confusion.

And I stood still, alarms blaring in my mind. The situation was slipping beyond my control. Player 2 was no longer the focus — now I was one of the prime suspects. Player 13's sudden claim... was he trying to save me? Or did he have another agenda?

As everyone hesitated, Player 13 threw out one more line — calm, but deadly:

"Let's not forget — if Shura were truly a Seer, a good guy, why has he been stealing everyone's coins?"

That struck a chord with the crowd.

"On the first night, he grabbed a bunch of gold coins in the park," Player 13 added. "Second night, he took ours too. Remember what those coins mean in this game."

At those words, even Player 4's face darkened, his expression turning uncertain.

"Is he really... the Seer?"

I saw the shift in Player 4's gaze and felt a pang of unease. The situation was slipping fast.

Then, the system's voice returned, cutting through the noise:

[Please begin voting.]

One by one, the vote lights blinked.

1 vote.

2 votes.

3 votes...

Shura: 7 votes

Player 13: 4 votes

Me : 1 vote

The broadcast sounded:

[Player 5 has received the most votes. Player 5 has been eliminated.]

The next moment, Shura threw his head back and laughed maniacally, the sound echoing through the hall like a jagged blade.

"Hahaha—!"

Everyone froze, eyes locked on him.

Then he stopped laughing, his gaze sharp as knives.

He shouted:

"Sorry, everyone!"

My heart dropped, cold sweat dripping down my back.

No way… don't tell me… he's the Jester?!

If that were true… we'd already lost.

My mind went blank.

But then Shura gave a twisted smile and said slowly:

"I'm the Wolf King — your Seer is coming with me!"

Player 13's eyes widened.

The system's voice followed:

[Player 13 has been taken by the Wolf King and eliminated.]

I let out a long breath of relief.

Thank God he wasn't the Jester…

But the bitter taste in my mouth remained.

The Seer — the most crucial role in this game, the one who can cut through the darkness — was gone.

I clenched my fists. Shura had played us. He exposed himself on purpose just to bait the real Seer.

It looked reckless, but it was brilliantly ruthless —

One move, and our best line of defense was gone.

I took a sharp breath.

He had gambled that the real Seer couldn't resist revealing themselves.

As the system confirmed Player 13's elimination, the room was in an uproar.

But Player 13 didn't look panicked. Instead, he smirked slightly, stood up straight, lifted his head, and calmly said:

"Wait a moment."

He scanned the room, his gaze sharp as a blade.

"I was never the Seer."

The room shook.

I instinctively widened my eyes, my heart skipping.

What?!

Then, in a voice calm yet chillingly firm, Player 13 said:

"I'm the Hunter."

A thunderclap seemed to explode above the hall.

"I knew the Wolf King might come for me, so I was ready. Bet you didn't see this coming."

"And before I go, I'm taking down — Player 2."

The system responded instantly:

[Player 13 has activated the ability. Player 2 has been eliminated.]

The room exploded.

Some stood there, speechless. Others were still frozen in shock.

I stood rooted in place, only one thought in my mind:

This round... is absolutely insane.
