Chapter 9 - Tiger's Lair

From the gym to Tiger's office, I was thinking about how I would try to please him. Mara had asked me, actually it was advised, whatever she had said I had to please Tiger and show him I was valuable to the good. I was trying to rehearse the lies to say and trying to recall the information about The Order that I'll reply if Tiger asked to tell how knowledgeable I was.

Well in under two minutes I was standing at the door of Tiger's office. With his office having a view of the sitting room, I realised he had seen me arriving at his door. I still hadn't gotten a strategy for how to deal with this conversation.

"Come in." Tiger's voiced boomed from the inside. I figured well maybe he thought I was waiting for an invitation. As my hand rested on the doorknob, I just assured myself that they probably needed me more than I realised.

I entered the office. It was quite luxurious for a room in the basement of a century old industry that'd retired for over a decade, thanks to the bad politicians in our country who most of whom recently I've learned might be part of The Order and might be actually trying to kill me.

I sat on the leather sofa probably for visitors and probably ate down the whole design of the office and the decorations with my eyes.

"To what do I owe the pleasure." Well I think that's what he actually said. I never got what he said truly, I just assumed that's what he said because that's the question I recited an answer for. An answer I'd been reciting ever since we had entered this humble abode, The Hub, quite a fancy name though for such a trashed place but what can I say, beggars don't choose.

"Mr Tiger…"

"Just Tiger please."

"Oh okay." Started off on a wrong foot. I'd thought maybe humbling myself and elevating him would make him a little human." Tiger, firstly I want to thank you and your team for saving me from death. Also, I want to thank you for having me here in your home." Well that had come out perfectly as planned, just that the supposed audience kept his straight face in form.

"Was just following order."

I tried to feign being amazed now though from my talk with Mara and Amad I had figured out they were only a remote group at most just available for covet operations. They were probably higher ups. Besides why would Tiger pity himself against politicians, but anyone could see he aspired to be one hence the formal wear and not trying to be friendly to subordinates. Dude sure was dreaming big. " Then to whom do I owe my life?" I asked him.

He finally brought his back to rest on the chair. It seemed comfortable but from my judgement I was sure it would never beat the comfort of Davids chair, my chair. Guy had been sitting like an interviewee trying to impress the HR.He grinned at me, "Well to The Assembly…." Fine so of course, this group had also a a name. He continued, "…and me actually, I slept in a giant bed alone for three days and that was the longest she's been away for a long time."

I did a small laugh, not that it felt fun but I had to appreciate the boss's attempt at a little humour and then added "Oh thank you Tiger." I added a little nod. Fromy study of people, I'd realised that adding a little nod especially after saying thanks makes people believe you mean it. I quickly changed the expression on my face putting on an air of surprise and being confused, "O f course thig group has a name but why is it Bruce never mentioned it? And I'm sure you wouldn't mind introducing me to the code of this group." I did a face wide smile after the question and favour asking combo I had just shot at him, the joker type of smile it was.

Well, "...….."
