Chapter 15 - The Military Academy

The Military Academy is not an academy but rather a training ground.

From all over Neero, young people get admitted to the academy, and the only requirement is to have a system and reach level 5.

The Neero world has many races other than Humans, like werewolves, Elves, dwarves, and furry races.

But there were only two Empires: The Holy Empire of Humans and the Sun Empire of the werewolves.

Elves, dwarves, and furry races live in the Neutral country, called 'Naria'.

The Vampires were not considered part of the Neero; they were named traitors.

As time passed, 21st March came, the day of the Military Academy recruitment.

Knock, knock, knock.

Click- Door opened.

Before Victor's eyes, Zara stood with her usual clothes, a skirt, and a shirt.

"Are you ready to go?" Zara asked, smiling.

Victor nodded and replied with a smile, "Yes, I'm ready."

Victor came out of his room with his backpack strapped to his back. He closed the door to his dorm room.

Zara moved before him, and he followed her.

'I have been coming to meet Victor daily, but after that kiss, things became a little awkward at first.' Zara thought

She stole glances toward Victor, who was completely wrapped from head to toe in black clothes.

He was wearing a black hat, sunglasses, and dark clothes, which felt odd.

Zara didn't say a word because she thought he looked more handsome and mysterious.

A small smile stretched on her face, and she moved, skipping her feet happily.

On the other hand, Victor's mind was somewhere else 'What's going on? Why was Zack still not able to reach level 20 after a week?'

His frown deepened as they walked through the streets of Elarion City.

His eyes drifted toward the girl walking alongside him, and his expression became relaxed.

He felt happy when Zara came to meet him daily in the last week.

He felt he was losing himself, but Zara's little action made him feel different. He realized he wasn't losing himself, no, he was evolving.

He was evolving to become stronger, and now, every little achievement felt more rewarding.

As they walked through the bustling streets of Elarion City, they reached the gate of Elarion School.

The iron gate was wide open, with a road leading inside, surrounded by a small garden, which ended in the school building.

The road was filled with a crowded line of students standing on either side.

Their chatting and laughing sounds drowned every other sound.

Victor and Zara stepped through the gate without stopping, even a little; they moved.

As they reached near the school building, Zara's eyes drifted toward the three girls standing by the side of the stairs leading inside.

Zara looked back toward Victor and, with her awkward eyes, she said in a whisper, "Victor, my friends …are waiting for me."

"Don't worry about me, go," Victor replied with a warm smile.

Zara nodded with a sweet smile and ran toward her friends.

Victor, on the other stepped inside the building, passed through the crowded corridor of the school.

As he was passing, students looked at him with the same hate and disgust. They started whispering to each other. Some mocked, some laughed, and some had pure hatred in their eyes for Victor, but no one, not one of them, noticed how Victor had changed.

Lyla stood beside the two girls, and they seemed busy. But Lyla's face, which always has a light smile, filled with pride, was absent today.

A girl beside Lyla nudged her with the elbow and pointed towards Victor, who was just coming through the corridor.

Lyla's absent eyes fell on Victor, and they opened wide. Her face became so shocked, like she had seen a chaos alien walking by, not Victor.

Victor passed by her ground without giving her even glancing toward her.

Lyla came back to her senses with another nudge from her friend, and both girls asked, "What happened?"

Lyla turned and looked at them, staring for a second.

Her friends looked at each other with worried expressions.

"Did you not notice that?" Lyla pointed in the direction Victor had left.

"Notice what?" one of her friends asked.

"Did you not notice the change in Victor? He became taller and… different." Lyla asked, still confused

Both girls shook their heads.

"He looked the same to us," one girl said, and looked at another who nodded in affirmation.

"What!" Lyla exclaimed, then she stopped herself, putting both hands on her mouth.

She has not been by herself ever since the death of her brother.

'I may have noticed wrongly.' Lyla thought, but still an image lingered in her back of her mind.

Little faraway in the corridor against a wall, a boy with black hair and small eyes stood.

As Victor was passing through the corridor, his face became sharp, not with disgust or hate like others. They were observing Victor like prey. He muttered under his breath, "Why do I sense danger from the trash?"

Then he drifted toward the Zara who had just entered the corridor with her friends. He smiled, muttering, "Let's focus on the mission."

Victor reached the end of the corridor, before a brown polished wooden door with a golden handle decorating it. Near the closed door, his homeroom teacher stood, his eyes widened as he noticed Victor standing opposite him.

"Victor?" He asked unsure

Victor nodded toward him with a neutral face.

He stepped toward Victor and circled him with wide eyes.

He stood before Victor, tilting his head upward at the eyes of Victor. He gulped, "You…have changed."

Victor nodded with a flat face.

"Ahem, anyway…ahh, you'll be allowed to enter the assembly hall in a few minutes, where you'll be tested." The teacher composed himself and said to Victor standing beside him.

"Taste… is simple, just as I had told you previously, awakening system and reaching level-5." He continued, trying to get on Victor's good side.

Such a drastic change is not common. One changes when leveling up and as their bodies become accustomed to origin magic.
