I stood at the entrance of the grand ballroom, the soft glow of chandeliers and the gentle hum of conversation creating an atmosphere that felt magical but instead left me feeling completely out of place.
The annual gala was in full swing inside, with elegantly dressed couples dancing and mingling. Everyone seemed to have a partner except me and I had to leave the hall and stand at the entrance, wishing my partner for tonight would show up
A few minutes turned into ten minutes, into twenty, thirty and now one hour. An entire hour, that’s how long I’ve been waiting for Jason.
I’d taken so much time to look perfect for the gala. First, it was my first inter-pack social function and I wanted to leave a good impression for the future. I wouldn’t want anyone to remember me as shabby when I and Kai finally get to be together.
But now, after waiting for one hour, I felt like all my efforts was wasted.
