Chapter 132 - Chapter 68: Proper Waste Disposal Starts With Me

Chapter 68: Proper Waste Disposal Starts With Me

Izuku Midoriya was sent for treatment. Sensing that something was wrong, Ryanne made a call and summoned Recovery Girl back from the third-year event.

The matches over there, while exciting, were being fought with restraint. There weren't many serious injuries. When Recovery Girl heard that the injured student was Izuku Midoriya, she hastily explained the situation to the principal and rushed over.

Everyone had now seen Shoto Todoroki's true power. All eyes turned to Tenya Iida and Yoshikage Kira. The two of them would be competing against each other shortly, and the winner would have to face the incredibly powerful, now-unleashed Todoroki.

Tenya Iida turned to Kira and said seriously, "Class Rep, I will not be holding back against you."

"Same here," Kira said, standing up and stretching. "But shouldn't we go check on Midoriya right now? I'm a little worried about his condition. Besides, Uraraka has already gone."

Toru Hagakure turned her head and, seeing the empty seat, cried out, "So fast! When did she leave!?"

"In any case, let's go together."

They learned from the staff on duty that Izuku Midoriya's injuries were too severe and that he had been taken to the main infirmary for treatment. Coincidentally, Cementoss announced that since Midoriya and Todoroki had destroyed the stage, he needed to wait for a new batch of cement to arrive to rebuild it. He told them that the matches would be postponed for at least twenty minutes, and they could use that time to visit Midoriya.

The group rushed to the infirmary. The moment Kira pushed open the door, he saw Recovery Girl and Ryanne examining Midoriya, who was lying on the bed. A blond-haired man was also standing beside them.

Kira recognized him. It was the same stooped man he had seen outside the break room when he had been talking with Aizawa. He's a school staff member. Is he related to Midoriya?

Minoru Mineta tugged on Denki Kaminari's sleeve, drooling as he stared at Ryanne. "Kaminari, look at that girl! Her chest is a little flat, but the doctor's uniform adds so many points!"

Kaminari glanced inside and his heart also began to pound. She's just my type!

"Hello," Uraraka said, politely greeting the blond man. She then turned to Recovery Girl anxiously. "How are Midoriya's injuries!?"

Iida, Kirishima, and Asui all crowded in, chattering as they asked about Midoriya's condition.

Recovery Girl, at the end of her rope, shooed them all out of the room. "He's about to go into surgery! Please go outside and keep quiet!"

Recovery Girl spotted Yoshikage Kira in the crowd, and her eyes lit up. "Kira, you stay. I need your help."

"Class Rep, please make sure Midoriya is okay!"

"Midoriya will be fine, right!?"

Listening to his classmates' pleas, Kira nodded to each of them and closed the infirmary door.

Surprisingly, the blond man showed no intention of leaving. Kira glanced at Recovery Girl, who gave no sign, so he tacitly accepted his presence.

"Recovery Girl, I'm really sorry about this," Midoriya said guiltily. "But when I saw the sad look on Todoroki's face, I felt like I couldn't just leave him like that..."

"If 'sorry' was enough, what would you need doctors like us for? You're not the first reckless fool I've met who thinks 'I can just get healed afterward'," Recovery Girl said, shooting a glare at the blond man. She turned back to Midoriya. "It's a comminuted fracture in your right arm. An injury this severe would normally require me to remove all the bone fragments from your body before I can even begin treatment. And even then, it would never heal back to the way it was. At least, that's how it should be..."

The blond man's face lit up with surprise. "Recovery Girl, does that mean Midoriya's injury can be healed!?"

Recovery Girl sighed. "Actually, Ryanne also bears some responsibility for Young Midoriya's injury this time. As her grandmother, I must have her take responsibility."

Recovery Girl looked at Ryanne, who was busy writing on a clipboard. "You'll be using your Quirk this time, won't you?"

"My Quirk? I've already used it several times," Ryanne said, standing up and handing the clipboard to Recovery Girl. She complained, "You already knew this would happen, didn't you? You never told me there would be this many injuries in the first-year tournament. They're completely reckless with their own bodies. If I hadn't used my Quirk, how could those contestants have recovered so quickly?"

Seeing the confused look on Kira's face, Recovery Girl explained, "Ryanne's Quirk is 'Extraction.' It allows her to extract and activate the effective substances from herbs, living organisms, or even medicines. She can then perfectly fuse the extracted liquid and inject it into the human body, allowing the patient's injuries to recover rapidly."

Ryanne added, "For example, I can extract the factors that promote rapid cell division from a plant and then fuse them with Midoriya's own cells. This way, his body can recover quickly without depleting too much of his own life force."

The blond man slammed a fist into his palm in a moment of enlightenment. "I see! So the medicine you prepared for me was... ahem, ahem..."

The man realized Kira was still in the room and began to cough loudly.

Recovery Girl handed the clipboard to Kira. "This is a list of what we need. Help me get them from the storage room."

"There are still 20 minutes before the next match. I'll go and tell the referee to let the others compete first," the blond man said decisively. "Young Kira, I'm leaving Young Midoriya in your hands."

"Of course. Thank you for your trouble," Kira said, looking at the man with some surprise. He looked so frail, yet he could influence decisions at the school level. Who is he? And that way of speaking is so familiar...

Although the thought crossed his mind, Kira had little interest in prying. Everyone had their secrets, himself included.

He looked down at the list on the clipboard, and his expression turned strange. "Mistletoe, oak branches, rosemary, lizard tails... Are you sure these are medical supplies and not ingredients for a medieval witch's potion?"

"Medicine and witchcraft are interconnected, you know," Ryanne said, slightly annoyed by his skepticism. She waved a hand at him dismissively. "Now hurry up and go get me the herbs. The names are all written on the jars. Remember to get the correct dosage, okay?"

Forget it. If that's what she says, I'll just go. Kira shrugged and headed for the storage room.

Uraraka was still waiting outside the door. Kira smiled at her. "Don't worry, Midoriya will be fine. You and the others should go on ahead. I'll be there in a bit. Also, my match with Iida has been postponed. Tell Tokoyami and the others to get ready."

The blond man and Uraraka's group headed for the stadium. For some reason, when Uraraka curiously asked about his relationship with Midoriya, the man became a little nervous and kept changing the subject.

Halfway there, Kira separated from them and went to the rarely visited basement of the integrated studies building. This was where the medical supplies were stored. He took out the key Recovery Girl had given him and opened the dusty door.

It was like a specimen room. Countless jars and vials were arranged on neat shelves. Some materials were preserved in liquid, some in soil, and some were dried, vacuum-sealed in glass containers.

A strange thought suddenly occurred to Yoshikage Kira—if he had to sort all of these materials for garbage disposal, which category would each of them fall into? Which ones were dry waste, and which ones were wet waste?
