Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9: Corrupt the Pure

Sunday morning was supposed to be quiet.

Holy.

Repentant.

But when Min-Joon stepped into the university chapel, all three of those concepts politely checked themselves out of existence. The doors creaked open like they were afraid of him. Sunlight streamed through stained glass and refracted off his sunglasses like divine sarcasm. He strolled down the center aisle like a sinner looking for applause, not forgiveness.

A priest near the altar paused midsentence. A choir girl dropped her hymnal.

He kept walking.

"System," he murmured, "where's my lamb?"

He grinned.

"Time to light a candle and blow out someone's worldview."

He turned into Seminar Room B like a man meant to rewrite scripture. The room was dim — a few flickering candles, old wood desks, shelves of books written by people who'd faint at the thought of casual touching. At the far end, Eun-Hye sat alone, her knees pressed together, white blouse tucked too neatly, eyes down, hands folded.

She didn't see him.

Not at first.

He sat in the desk next to her, casually, without invitation.

"You believe in miracles?" he asked.

She looked up, startled.

"I... I'm studying for theology finals."

"That wasn't my question," he said.

She blinked.

Cheeks pink.

He leaned in slightly.

"I asked if you believe in things that make you tremble without touching. If you've ever heard something so intimate it felt like your soul was being kissed."

Eun-Hye swallowed.

Her throat worked hard.

"You shouldn't be here," she whispered.

"You're right," Min-Joon said, smiling lazily. "I should be under you in a moment of doubt."

She gasped.

Stood up.

Books fell.

He didn't flinch.

Didn't move.

Just let the words hang there like incense.

[Target Response: High Conflict / High Curiosity]

"Why are you like this?" she asked, backing away.

He stood too — slowly.

Towering without aggression.

"I'm not a temptation," he said softly. "I'm the answer to questions you were too scared to ask."

She backed into a bookshelf.

He stepped closer.

But stopped — inches from her.

"Tell me to leave," he whispered.

Silence.

Her breathing fast.

Tell me, he thought.

Push me.

End this.

She didn't.

Instead…

She touched his chest.

One hand.

Barely there.

Shaking.

But there.

"W-What?"

"With the lights off."

Ten minutes later, they stood in the private confession booth.

Dark.

Tight.

Silent.

He sat where the priest would normally sit.

She knelt on the other side.

Only a screen between them.

Only their breath.

"Tell me your darkest thought," he whispered.

"No," she said, voice trembling.

"I'll start," he said. "I want to be your prayer. The one you whisper when you're too ashamed to say it out loud."

She gasped softly.

He leaned closer.

"Now yours."

Her voice was almost gone.

"I think about… touching."

"Where?"

"Everywhere."

"Say it."

"Myself."

Her breath broke.

His did not.

He opened the screen slightly.

Enough for eyes to meet.

Enough for rules to die.

She reached through the divide.

Touched his fingers.

Whispered, "Make me stop believing in heaven."

And him burned into her belief system forever.
