Chapter 19 - Invite

It was a group of three girls. The leader of this group was a blonde beauty with delicate curves that could easily pass her off as a model. Her pretty face only accentuated her gorgeous figure. She was walking with two of her friends.

The other two girls with her weren't bad looking either. One had long black hair with a few strands dyed purple. If I remember correctly, her name was Allyah, and she was part of the swimming club.

A slight blush appeared on her face when she caught sight of Ken, but I doubted Ken noticed, given his nature.

The other girl seemed a bit eccentric as she waved over to us.

"Cassy, Kenny!"

She rushed over to us, practically beaming with joy. The first thing I noticed about her was her long, pink-dyed hair. She had a cute face and, for some reason, was dressed in a baggy school tracksuit. They called her Lulu, but I, for one, wasn't going to utter such a ridiculous name.

As she ran, I couldn't help but notice the graceful movements of her chest which was basically defying physics. Even her baggy clothes couldn't hide it. I heard she was in the track club, so I was left wondering:

How could she run with those?

[Focus idiot. Stop drooling over girls with big chest.]

"Hey, don't call me Cassy! That's a girl's name!" Cassian quickly retorted.

"I also don't want to be called Kenny. It's Ken, and if you're not comfortable with that, feel free to call me by my last name."

Lulu smiled unassumingly.

"Cassy, Kenny, how was training? Did you beat anyone up?" she asked, ignoring them while making punching movements with her fists.

"Why do I even bother?" Ken mumbled under his breath. "She is hopeless, no use in making her rile you up again, Cassian."

"To hell with leaving it! What if that name catches on?" Cassian protested.

Lulu giggled at their banter before her eyes finally landed on me.

"Who are you?"

For some reason, she circled around me with her hand on her chin. Looking me up and down as if examining a rare specimen.

"Nope, never seen you before," she retorted talking as if I was some lost puppy.

"This is Liam," Ken explained. "He's our classmate and a new member of the boxing club."

"Ah, I see," she shifted her attention back to me. "So you like punching people too, huh?"

Confused, I glanced around at the others; Ken was pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration, and Cassian's face was still red with anger from being called 'Cassy.'

"I guess," I answered, not sure of what the best response was.

Her pink plush lips curved into a smile.

"It's nice to meet you, Liam," she said, extending her hand for a handshake. But the moment I tried to shake her hand, she grabbed my arm and began examining my muscles.

"Wow, you work out a lot, don't you?"

"I, uh…"

"And you have a handsome face too." she continued. "How haven't I ever notice you before?"

"Interesting, isn't it?" Ken interjected, adjusting his glasses. "His appearance has improved a lot in such a short time."

"He has?" Lulu asked, sliding her hand down to my abs then gasping in astonishment. "What were you like before?"

Her eyes sparkled as she gave me an inquisitive look, but just then, Kiki and Allyah finally caught up to us.

"What's up? Are you coming from volleyball practice?" Cassian asked her.

"Yeah, the coach is really pushing us hard this year; my shoulders are killing me," Kiki said, massaging her shoulder. Her eyes swept over to me, where Lulu still had her hand on my abs, and a frown appeared on her face. "Lulu, what are you doing?"

"Huh? What do you mean? Anyway have you met him, this is Liam; he just joined the boxing club."

"You shouldn't touch people you don't know." Her words were harsh as she glared at me and dragged Lulu away by the arm. An awkward silence ensued after that.

I didn't know why, but I had the feeling Kiki didn't like me much.

"Anyway," she continued, "we were planning on heading to the mall for an after-school smoothie. Do you guys want to join us?"

"Yeah, you guys should come with us," Allyah backed her up, stealing glances at Ken.

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Cassian said. "What do you guys think?"

"Well, the coach said it's fine for us to relax after our training," Ken said, with his hand on his chin, looking as if he were deep in thought. "Though I don't think a smoothie will be good for my diet; I'll have a fruit juice instead."

I should probably do the same thing. The system will probably give me a stomach ache if I eat anything I shouldn't.

"In that case, I'll have the same thing as Ken." I replied.

"Alright, since we're all in agreement, let's go!"

As always, the mall was bustling with life. Students from different schools were huddled together in groups. There was some sort of sale going on, and we couldn't hear over our own voices, so we decided to go upstairs to the third floor, where the restaurants were.

We entered a small café called 'Sunset Sips.' The scent of freshly ground coffee beans and sugary treats hung in the air. The inside was cozily decorated with yellow cushions and stools.

Luckily, a few seats opened up just as we arrived. We took a seat by the window, where we had a view of the activity on the second floor. Shortly after, a young girl dressed in a cute maid outfit came over to take our orders. I ordered a regular orange juice while Ken opted for grape juice.

Cassian and the girls ordered different flavors of smoothies. Ken glared at him as he took a sip of his drink.

"What!" Cassian exclaimed, noticing Ken's stares.

"You know better than to drink that. You need to keep a proper diet."

"Whatever, I can't drink all that fruity stuff," Cassian said, making a sour face before turning his attention to the girls. "Anyway, how are you guys' training coming along?"

"Tiring," Kiki sighed exhaustedly. "the coach is pushing us hard this year,"

"That is to be expected," Ken replied. "We only obtained two medals last year, and the years before that, we got nothing. They want to make sure that we first years can perform well this year."

"Oh, I heard about that from some of the upperclassmen in my club," Allyah's face lit up. "Your brother was the one who landed a silver in the final round of the boxing tournament. I'm sure you'll do well in the tournament too."

[Someone got a crush.] Alexa remarked sounding smug.

Try refraining from making snarky comments in my head. Anyway, she said Captain Lucian won a medal last year.

[Yeah, your captain is quite the boxer. Do you want to see his stats?]

Hmm… Maybe later.

"Hehehe, the captain of the track club managed to snag a bronze medal last year too," Lulu said with a cheeky smile.

Just then, Kiki's lips curved into a smile.

"The captain of the track club is so hot—"

"Enough of that!" Cassian quickly cut her off immediately. "We're not here to talk about that."

Kiki stuck out her tongue at him, crossed her legs, and continued sipping on her smoothie as if she were Queen of England.
