Chapter 24 - A Big Change

"A what?"

Alexa smiled and laid her slender hand on my chest.

"You'll be completely melted in acid and then reborn so your body will be strong enough to keep up with our advanced training. Don't worry; you'll still be recognizable to your family and friends. We're only giving you the perfect human body."

"Let me get this straight: you want to melt me in acid?" I took a deep breath and pronounced my words clearly so she would understand the weight every word. "Hell. No."

"I'm afraid you don't have a choice in the matter; it has already been decided."

"Decided by who? I'll become a boxer in my own way."

"I'm sorry, darling, but that's not how it works," she said, trailing her hand up my chest playfully. "Don't you want a better body? You'll have the peak human form. Most people will be jealous."

"I thought that was the entire reason I was training."

"Training alone can't give you that. It will all be over in mere seconds."

Just as her words struck me, I felt a gust of wind against my ears and realized that I was falling from the sky. A cold chill enveloped my body as everything hit me. How is this even possible? I was lying on the ground mere seconds ago.

Alexa had completely vanished, and all I saw was the sky as I plummeted downward.

This is it!

I held my breath, waiting for the inevitable moment until I finally hit the ground with a thud, but instead, I heard a loud splash as if I had landed in a body of water. My back stung from the force until my entire body felt as if it were melting alive.

I was floating in an entirely white solution, as white as milk. The milky white solution soon turned red as chunks of flesh began floating about. An indescribable pain hit me as I realized this was my flesh.

Bubbles rippled around me as I shouted on the top of my voice. Before I could thrash around, my limbs were already gone.

My mind reeled from the agony of the situation, and I didn't even have time to process exactly what was happening. It felt as if I were floating in a bath of meat. Soon, the pain stopped, and I realized only bones remained beneath me.

[Deconstruction completed] Alexa's voice rang out in my mind. [You will now be put in a state of hibernation as we rebuild your body from scratch.]

Everything went black as I lost myself to a deep sleep. The next thing I knew, I was lying on something soft and comfortable. My mind slowly began to drift back to sleep because of how comfortable it felt.

"Wake up, sleeping head," a sweet voice spoke, prompting me to slowly open my eyes.

The first thing I saw was a face so pretty it must have belonged to a goddess. White strands of hair draped over her shoulders as she gave me a smile that could brighten the darkest days. My heart pounded like a war drum inside my chest until the realization hit me, causing me to want to throw up on the spot.

The girl was Alexa.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Her smile morphed into a frown.

My disappointment was immeasurable until my mind finally caught up, and I realized what had happened. A sort of phantom pain erupted in my body when I remembered how I had been skinned alive in acid.

My breathing grew ragged as I clutched at my throat.

"Calm down; it's all over now. Don't worry about it."

I closed my eyes, focused on my breathing, and tried to calm myself. I regained my composure easily; maybe it was because that Stat had increased during my training. When I achieved this, I finally opened my eyes again and realized that I was somehow back in my room. And that I was lying on Alexa's lap.

"Is it over?" I asked.

Alexa smiled at me and gestured to the mirror.

"Take a look for yourself."

I did as she instructed and stood in front of the mirror. My heart skipped a beat when I saw myself.

"Gorgeous, isn't it? You are now the perfect human," Alexa said proudly.

For one, I was completely naked. I could hardly recognize myself. There were so many changes that it was hard to take it all in at once.

"I look taller," I commented.

"That's right; you are now 6 feet 2 inches."

My arms were a bit larger, and my abs were now much more defined, with six-packs standing out like the Eiffel Tower. My skin shimmered like crystal. It was smooth and clear, with not even the slightest imperfection.

My jawline was now well-defined, with cheekbones so sharp they could cut diamonds. My once dull green eyes were now shining like a pair of jade crystals. Overall, I would make a killing as a model.

My appearance had been changing ever so slightly ever since I started training. It wouldn't be hard to explain my changes to everyone as just a simple glow-up. I guess everyone would just assume that was the case.

After looking over my appearance, I got dressed and went downstairs to see if anyone was home yet. Unfortunately, no one was. It was just after 10 PM. Thalia was out late again. It seemed our heated argument yesterday hadn't changed a thing.

In fact, I might have made things worse. I sat on the couch, feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything that had happened. I didn't feel like staying home anymore, so I pulled out my phone to message Cassian.

'Hey man. Are you still planning to go to that boxing match?'

Seconds later my phoned pinged with a respond.

'Yeah, I was actually just heading out. Want to join?'

'Yeah, sure.'

'Alright, text me your address, and I'll come pick you up.'

I messaged Cassian my address, and a few minutes later, he arrived outside my house in a taxi.
