"Then why would she do it now?" Axel finally asks, not even looking in Fenris's direction. His voice is quieter now, but sharp, like he's trying to make sense of something that doesn't add up. "Why him? Why with... Fenris?"
Jeremy shrugs slightly, like he doesn't have the perfect answer, but he isn't going to stay silent either. "Maybe because the two of you need each other in ways you don't understand yet. I don't know the reason, really, but there has to be one. Or maybe..." he adds, his tone shifting ever so slightly with amusement, "...maybe you're both gay, and someone just still doesn't realize it until now."
He glances cautiously at Fenris, as if testing his reaction, but his smirk disappears immediately.
"It's not funny," Fenris growls, his voice low, rough, the first thing he's said in a while.
Jeremy only chuckles under his breath, unbothered.
