So..." Jeremy continues, and this time his voice is a little softer, more careful, because he can tell that something has shifted in Axel.
Whether it's understanding, memory, or suspicion, he doesn't know but something has clicked. "When that boy... the first of us, grew older and reached a certain age, it was like something inside him was turning wild. He didn't understand what was happening to him. He was overwhelmed with this desire, this craving for someone, and he had no idea how to stop it or where it was coming from. He didn't even know how to explain it to anyone."
Jeremy watches Axel carefully, but Axel doesn't look at him. He turns around slowly, pacing a little, his jaw tight, clearly trying to make sense of something that now seems far too close to home.
Jeremy can't tell if Axel is reacting because it all sounds familiar, or if he's suspicious that Jeremy might somehow know more than he's letting on.
