Kyra's POV
I sighed, maybe for the twentieth time that day. I was back in my office, waiting for Nathan and Snow to return. My mind kept circling what Attorney Lee had told me. Everything about my mother felt like a mystery.
Mom had been an heiress—Eva Foster—kidnapped as a child and raised as Kate Peterson. My chest felt tight. I couldn't breathe properly. Sylvia was stirring inside me. She could sense how upset I was.
Did Mom know who she really was? Did she ever find out she was from the Foster family?
Dad was gone. I had no one to ask about Mom's past. Attorney Lee had said Madam Foster died three months ago. Now, only Mom's siblings were left—a whole family I'd never known about.
"Mommy!"
Snow ran into my office, happiness lighting up her face. She jumped onto my lap and I hugged her tightly.
"How was Daddy's company, little lady?" I smiled and kissed her head.
She giggled. Ana flopped onto my couch, looking tired.
Nathan sat across from my desk, silently watching us.
